Dragonfly Journal Page

Hi everybody, I'm sharing a journal page with you today and I'm also entering it into the Art Journal Journey Recycle and Collage challenge.

I used one of the pages in my Dina Wakley joural. I started by making a collage of patterned paper, tissue wrap, music and book pages. I stencilled some modelling paste with a Crafters Workshop stencil. I added some colour with Gellatos and water letting some of the colour run. I dry brushed some Imagination Craft Starlight paint over the stencilling and added some white splatters. The  words were stamped with an Artistic Stamper stamp. For the dragonfly I printed a Gecko Galz image, adhered it to some card and cut it out. I put stickles on the wings before adhering it to the page. Lastly I used a black pen to doodle round the edge of the page.

A close up of the dragonfly - you can just about see the glitter on the wings.

Thank you for visiting my blog, have a lovely weekend. xxx Hazel.

I painted the diary page with blue Fresco paint and stencilled the snowflakes, I added some stickles.
The jumper is part of some junk mail, it was a grey drawing that I coloured with felt tip pens. I added a few doodles and wrote "what you need on a cold and frosty morning is a nice warm wooly jumper"

Thank you for dropping by to take a look, have a lovely day. xxx Hazel.

Altered Playing Cards C and D

I've just finished the next two cards for the Maremi's Creative Cafe Facebook group challenge. For the letters C and D the words we were given were coffee and dragonfly.

I used an Impression Obsession stamp and Kaleidacolor inks for the background, I flicked water on it. I drew the mug and coloured it with felt tips and stamped some hearts. The mug stains are a Stampers Anonymous stamp.

I used a stencil and modelling paste on the card and painted it with gesso. I coloured it with Gelatos. and spread some micro bead gel, when this dried I used my finger to add some gilding. The dragonfly was coloured stamped, coloured with felt tips and cut out. I put stickles on the wings and a metal game pointer on the body. The quote was stamped with an Artistic Stamper stamp. No idea who made the dragonfly.

Thank you for looking.

Try It On Tuesday - Guest Designer

I was thrilled to find that a tag I'd made had been chosen as one of the top 5 in the Try It On Tuesday Book Pages challenge and I was even more thrilled when I was asked to be a guest designer.

I have made a couple of postcards for my GD spot - the theme of the challenge is Sun/Moon/Stars.

For my sun postcard I used modelling paste with a Memory Box stencil, then I gave it a coat of gesso. To colour the background I used acrylic ink sprayed with water.

I kept adding more ink and water until I got the colours that I liked.

I stamped the PaperArtsy flower onto some white card twice, I coloured the flowers with the inks and cut them out, I glued one of the flowers to the card and then I cut the outer petals of the second flower and glued it over the first flower.

My moon and stars postcard was made the same way as the sun card.

I used a Crafters Workshop stencil with the modelling paste and used acrylic ink to colour it. I dry brushed some white acrylic paint over the top of the stars and then I added some stickles to the stars. The Clarity stamp moon was stamped onto white card, coloured with watercolours, cut out and attached to the card with thick double sided tape. I wrote the W. Clement Stone quote and added it to the card.

Please take a look at the challenge to see the fabulous samples that the very talented design team have made and I hope you can enter the challenge as well.

W is for Wizard

W is the latest letter in the Craft Barns Alpha/Dictionary challenge. The word I have chosen is Wizard.

I've used a gelli print for the background of my postcard. I mixed some yellow paint with some modelling past and stencilled the stars using a That's Crafty stencil. I stamped the wizard [Stamps Happen] onto some white card, he was coloured with pencil, cut out and glued to the card. I stamped the W and added the dictionary definition. I put some stickles on the stars.

December Calendar

I've just made it for the Craft Barns December calendar challenge, the theme is Gold and/or Silver and Christmas Trees. December has been a bit fraught and I've not been able to do much crafting or blog hopping, things seen to be getting back to normal so I will be visiting you all in the New Year.

I used Brushos for the background, I sprinkled them onto card and sprayed with water. The PaperArtsy tree has been stamped onto coloured card, I cut out the pieces and glued them to gold card and then cut out the whole tree. I spread some gold Stickles onto the card and then glued the tree and presents, the presents and star have gold Stickles on, I also added red glitter glue dots on the tree. The calendar page and dates have been matted onto gold card.

A close up of the tree. The calendar is a lot more glittery than it looks on the photos.

Thank you for looking.

Halloween Postcards

Halloween is the latest theme for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge.

I have a couple of postcards for Halloween and my Web postcard that I never got round to posting last week.

I started by covering my postcard with strips of gauze and then I put some acrylic paint at the top, sprayed it with water and let the paint run down the card. When the card had dried I used some modelling paste with a skull stencil. When the paste dried I went over it with white paint. I squirted some orange stickles over the card. The wooden bats were coloured black and covered with distress stickles and I added some red gems for their eyes.

The stickles can be seen a bit better in this photo.

I used a Gelli print for the background of this postcard and stamped the hearts. The two zombies [Octopode Factory stamps] were stamped onto white card, coloured with felt tips and cut out, I also stamped and cut out the label.

This was my postcard that I never got round to posting for last weeks challenge. I painted the background with acrylic paint and stamped Inkadinkado stamps over it. I made the web with a Quickcutz die. The spider was stamped, painted black and cut out.

Thank you for looking.

The Butterflies and the Bees

Hi everybody - I hope you are all well.

I thought it was time I posted something on my neglected blog.

I'm sharing with you a couple of pages that I made for the KCUK Deco Swap, my swap partners theme was Anything That Flies.

I used Brushos on the background and stencilled the mesh with Distress ink. I stamped the Jofy quote and small Stampotiqe bees. The large and medium Stampotique bees were stamped onto white card and coloured with Pitt pens, cut out and adhered to the page. I put stickles on the wings.

I coloured the background and stamped the butterflies with Distress ink and stamped some script. The large butterfly was stamped and die cut with a Stampendous stamp and die. The Quote is a Hobby Art stamp. The butterfly and quote were stamped onto card that had been coloured with Brushos.

Thank you for looking.

Craft Barn Calendar Challenge - January

I've decided to join in with the Craft Barns Calendar Challenge, for January the theme is Aqua and Snowflakes.

I used a baby wipe to colour the background with peacock feathers distress ink. The trees [Artemeo stamp] were stamped with evergreen bough distress ink. I glued bits of a lacy handmade paper at the bottom. For the snowflakes I used a mixture of Tattered Lace dies and a Martha Stuart punch. I put stickles on the snowflakes and handmade paper but the photo doesn't show it very well.
I shall probably matt the pages onto card but I'm not sure how I'm going to bind them yet.

Craft-Room Challenge - Picture Inspiration

Another fortnight has flown by and it's time for another craft-Room Challenge. This is the last challenge of the year and sadly it will be the last ever Craft-Room Challenge. It's been a difficult and busy year for some of the DT  and other members are moving to new pastures so we've decided to call it a day. Debi is the hostess of this last challenge and she has a lovely picture for us all to be inspired by.

Our sponsor for the challenge is The MDF Man

Inspiration Picture

For my DT piece I've decorated a frame and taken my inspiration from the roses, colour blue, snow and frost.

I gave the frame a couple of coats of gesso and then painted it blue, when the paint dried I dry brushed a paler blue over the top. I stencilled some snowflakes with modelling paste, when the paste dried I sprayed the frame with Glimmer Mist and melted some white Frantage embossing enamel. I printed the image and painted the edges with blue paint then I put it in the frame. I die cut the leaves and ivy and covered them with Stickles. I've had some red roses in my stash for a long time and I covered them with frosted lace Stickles. Then I glued them to the frame and added some silver cord.

A close up of the frame.

A close up of the flowers.

The rest of DT have been inspired by the picture and have made some gorgeous samples so why not visit the Craft-Room and take a look.

Tea Bag Folded Star And Felt Reindeer Christmas Tree Decorations

Two decorations to share with you today.

The first one is a tea bag folded star.

I got the pattern of the Internet but there's no link as I can't find where I got it from.
I made eight sections and glued them all together, then I covered it front and back with stickles, I embossed two wooden snowflakes with a glitter embossing powder and glued one on the front and one on the back.

This reindeer was a free kit in a magazine some time ago. It  was very easy to make.

Craft-Room Challenge - Christmas Decorations/No Cards

Good morning, it's my turn to choose the theme for the latest Craft-Room Challenge and I have chosen Christmas Decorations/No Cards.

Our sponsor for the challenge is Crafty Individuals,

For my DT project I've made a few Christmas tree decorations.

I wont show all the decorations today as my post will be too long so I'll share them with you over the next few days. I'll start off with the lantern as I was pleased with how it turned out..

I found the template for the lantern on Pinterest, here is the link.

I resized the template to fit on A4 card and printed it twice. I cut out one of the prints and cut out the windows, then I glued acetate over the windows. I scored and folded the sides and glued them to make the lantern shape.
With the second print I cut out the sides and top sections separately so that I could paint them.
I started by painting them with marlin Fresco Finnish and then covered them with Weathered Wood crackle medium. I left the Weathered Wood crackle to dry for a few hours and then painted Snowflake Fresco Finnish over it, this dried with a lovely cracked effect, I then sponged all the edges with weathered wood Distress ink, then I glued all the sides and top sections to the lantern. I put some Aleene's glitter snow on the top.
I die cut some ivy and leaves with a Sizziz die and green card and poinsettia flowers with a Spellbinders die and red card. I covered the die cuts with frosted lace Stickles. When the stickles dried I glued the flowers and leaves to the lantern and glued some beads to the centre of the poinsettias.

I used inks on the background and splashed with water. I stamped the Crafty Individuals image on to white card and onto card matching the background, The white image was adhered to the ATC and I cut out the coloured star and adhered it to the image on the ATC. I added some silver stickles.

I adhered some patterned paper to the ATC and stamped the Sheena Douglas image onto white card. The image was watercolured with Distress ink. I added some die cut holly leaves, beads, ribbon. and some stickles.

A Vintage Christmas At The Craft-Room

Time for another Craft-Room Challenge. We do not have a host this time, following a group discussion we thought it would be fun to have a Vintage Christmas.  You are welcome to make anything Vintage Christmas Themed that strikes your fancy.

Crafty Individuals are our Sponsors for the challenge.

For my DT piece I've made a Christmas card using a Gecko Galz image.

I covered half the card with Christmas vellum and the other half with some paper from my stash. The image was edged with fired brick distress ink and matted onto a some patterned paper, I used the same patterned paper to die cut the holly leaves [Sizzix], I covered the leaves with stickles, I also put some stickles on the image. I dyed some seam binding green [wished I'd used a different green] and added it to the card then I added the holly, red beads and sentiment.

This is another card using a Gecko Galz image.

Again I used patterned paper and card from my stash. I put some stickles on the image and added some wooden snowflakes that I embossed with glittery white embossing powder, the glittery bits don't show up very well in both photos.

If you've started to make your Christmas cards and need some inspiration why not pop over to the Craft-Room challenge to see the fabulous samples that the rest of the DT have made.

Blue and Cream ATCs

Before I share my ATCs with you I'd like to apologise for my lack of commenting on your blogs, I've been trying catch up with you all but I'm so far behind that I don't seem to be able to, but I shall persevere and you should have a visit from me soon.

Now for my ATCs, I've made them for the July swap at KCUK the theme is Cream and Navy. I used cream card and chipped sapphire Distress ink for all three ATCs.

The stamps I used for this one are Crafty Individuals for the background and Stampers Anonymous for the main image.

The stamp for this one is Crafty Individuals.

The stamp for this one is Stampers Anonymous.

The wooden butterfly and clock were coloured with the chipped sapphire and had Distress Stickles added.

Monochromatic Butterflies

We have two challenges a month on the KCUK forum and this month it was my turn to host the challenges. My first challenge was to do the watercolour stamping technique, I will post the cards that I made for this at a later date, my second challenge was Butterflies and Dragonflies, I'm posting my card now as I want to join in with the Butterflies Challenge the theme is monochromatic.

I covered my card blank with some spotty paper from my stash and stamped the background, I stamped the image onto the spotty paper and matted it onto some blue card. I added the ribbon and wooden butterflies. The butterflies look very dark as I coloured them with chipped sapphire Distress ink, I also stickled them.
I used Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz stamps.

I'd like to enter my card in the
Butterfly Challenge - Monochromatic.

The Stamp Man

For the challenge I've made a card.

I covered a white card blank with vellum that had music printed on it and then I added a die cut [Sizzix/Tim Holtz]. I printed the Gecko Galz image and edged it with green ink, I also cropped the butterflies and printed them three times and covered them with Stickles.

As always the rest of the DT team have made some lovely samples and would love you to visit the Craft-Room Challenge to take a look.

Mono Printing With An Acrylic Block

The theme for the March challenge at the Craft Stampers Take It Make It Challenge is to make some mono prints using acrylic paint on acrylic blocks. Trish Latimer has a project in the April Craft Stamper where she has a tutorial on doing this technique.

This is a tag that I made.

I used a mixture of DecoArt and Fresco Finish acrylic paints. The background stamp is by Kaisercraft, I don't know who made the stamp on the edge.
I used the Sizzix Tattered Florals die for the flower and put a piece of corrugated card behind it so that the flower wouldn't disappear into the background. I also put some Stickles onto the petals. I added the PaperArtsy sentiment.
