Use A Stencil Or Two

Good morning all, today is the start of a new challenge at Try It On Tuesday, the theme is to Use A Stencil Or Two. I’m very happy to be a guest designer for the challenge.

For the challenge I’ve Made a card.

For the background I sprayed some Dylusions ink through a stencil and then sprayed a little water to make some of the ink run. I added some gold paint splatters.

For the main image I used a sweet poppy stencil and Versamagic ink then I added some doodling on the flowers.

I adhered the background to a card blank then I wrapped some cord round the image and adhered it to the card,  I die cut some butterflies using a Martha Stewart butterfly punch and added them and a sentiment to the card.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look, have a lovely day. xxx

Art Journal Page

Good morning everybody. It's time for a new challenge at Altered Eclectics, as always the theme is Mixed Media/Altered Art.

I've done an art journal page for my DT piece.

I started by adding some colour to the page using watered down Dylusions ink, then I added some torn strips of washi tape, strips of book pages, a bit more colour and then I added some stamped script. I scribbled a circle on the corner and scribbled some writing round it. I die cut the circle using an Elizabeth entwined circle die and embossed it with some Frantage embossing enamel, the butterfly was made using a Sizzix stamp and die. I added a pen nib for the body and some stickles on the wings, the words are a Tim Holtz sticker.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look, have a lovely day. xxx

SPA - Water

Water is this weeks Sunday Postcard Art challenge theme.

The background was coloured with acrylic paint and the puddles were stencilled, I drew the rain drops. I stamped the image onto card, coloured it, cut it out and glued it to the card, the stamp I used is a Dylusions stamp.
My card was larger than a postcard so after I wrote the words I took a photo and loaded it into my Serif programme and resized it, I added the pink and green border and added some script and a postmark to the background.

Thank you for looking. xxx Hazel.

The butterflies were stamped and punched out with a Martha Stewart stamp and die and I used a Finnabair word stamp.

I painted the diary page with blue Fresco paint and stencilled the snowflakes, I added some stickles.
The jumper is part of some junk mail, it was a grey drawing that I coloured with felt tip pens. I added a few doodles and wrote "what you need on a cold and frosty morning is a nice warm wooly jumper"

Dylusions Creative Dyary Week 1

Hi everyone, I hope you're having a good weekend.

Today I'm sharing with you the first week of my creative journal, I'm going to try to keep the journal going all year.

All the pages on the right side of the journal are already coloured ready for decoration, so I decorated the page with some die cut circles and a Dylusions die cut that I'd coloured with felt tip pens, the diary page was stamped. The word stickers says - and so the adventure begins.

I'd like to enter my journal in the Art Journal Journey challenge - New Year, New Adventures.

Thank you for dropping by, have a lovely Sunday. xxx Hazel.

Friends Journal Page

Good morning everyone, I've a journal page to share with you today.

My Friend is the theme for the Try It On Tuesday challenge and Colour My World is the theme for the Art Journal Journey challenge. My favourite colour is green and my favourite colour combination is green and pink although there is more pink than green on my page.

I coloured the background with Distress Oxides and stamped with Archival ink. I used a stencil for the leaves. The stamps that I used are Paperartsy, Seth Apter and Kaisercraft.

I found some lovely napkins at Ally Pally last weekend, one of them had pink roses on so I cut out some roses and glued them to the page.

I added some Tim Holtz images and stamped some words with Art Impressions and Dyan Reaveley/Dylusions stamps.

The words are
A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.

Girlfriends make the best accessories.

Thank you for visiting me, have a lovely day. xxx Hazel.

Thunder Bolts and Lightning

Linda has chosen the theme for this months Art Journal Journey challenge, the theme she has chosen is For The Record/Inspired By A Song. I couldn't decide what song to choose and then we had a storm one night and the words "Thunder bolts and lightning, very very frightening" came into my head so my song is Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.

I had a very dark gelli print that I wasn't sure what too use it for, it looked stormy so I decided to use it for the background and glued it to my journal page. I used a Dylusions umbrella stamp and patterned paper, after I stamped the umbrellas I cut them out and glued them to the page. I used a white pen to draw the thunderbolts and lightening and scribbled round them with a white pencil, I think I put to much white on as it got rid of too much of the dark background.

Thank you for looking.
xxx Hazel.

Low Flying Skulls Journal Page

I've done a journal page for my October Mixed Media Mojo DT piece. The theme for the latest challenge is Halloween/Wings.

I painted the background with acrylic paint and stencilled a skull and letters with modelling paste.

I then dribbled some Dylusion ink down the page.

I stamped the pumpkins[Hero Arts], bottles[Creative Expressions] and wings[Hampton Arts] onto card and coloured them with acrylic paint. I covered the small wooden skulls with DecoArt Media Crackle Paste. When the paste had dried I glued the wings to the back of the skulls and glued all the stamped images to the page. I gave the page a coat of Multi Matte Medium, when this dried I added more colour to the images with some Faber-Castell Pitt pens. I used a white Posca Pen to whiten the larger skull.

I hope you can find time to visit and enter the challenge, my team mates have made some fabulous samples and they would love you to take a look.

Have a lovely day.
xxx Hazel.

August Calendar - Pink and Butterflies

My August calendar page for the Craft Barns calendar challenge is a bit grungier than my other pages.

I enlarged a photo of a hydrangea from my garden and printed it onto copy paper. I tore round the flower head and adhered it to the page. I then stencilled some modelling past with a Dreamweaver stencil and when the paste had dried I gave the page a light coat of gesso.

I sprayed the page with water and added some Dylusions ink.

I went round the edges with picked raspberry distress ink and stamped some butterflies and letters. I stamped and die cut the large butterfly and added it and the calendar to the page.

I used Stampers Anonymous stamps for the background letters and butterflies, for the large butterfly I used a Stampendous stamp and die.

Thank you for looking.

I used Dylusions ink on the background and stamped the Inkadinkado branch. The Dina Wakley scribble bird was stamped onto a separate piece of card and cut out.

The background on this ATC is weaved pieces of handmade paper. The Sheena Douglas stamps were stamped onto white card and watercoloured and then cut out.

Halloween Journal Page

Today I'd like to share with you my Halloween journal page - I had great fun making it.

I'm linking it to the following challenges
Artist Trading Post - Halloween.
That's Crafty - Spooky.
Order Of The Opus Gluei - Ghostly Goings On.
Make My Monday - Halloween.
Haunted Design House - Hellacious Halloween.

I started by painting the page with gesso and then I used an Andy Skinner skull mask with some modelling paste. When everything had dried I sprayed it with different colours of Dylusion ink. I used an orange Zig felt tip pen to make some flames at the bottom of the page. The bats and web were stamped straight onto the page, all the other images were stamped onto tissue paper and glued to the page. I made a wash with black acrylic paint and water and painted it over the skull, when I mopped up some of the  wash it took some of the inks away and I rather like the effect it had on the skull.

The stamps I used are
Stampotique - the spider.
Inkadinkado - the two graves at the bottom of the page, on says "I'll be back" and the other one says "Holy smoke, it's hot down here.
Cherry Pie Art Stamps - bats, skeletons, gravestones,
