Hi everyone, the first half of the year has gone already and it's now July and time for another challenge at Altered Eclectics, as always the theme is Anything Goes as long as it's Altered Art/Mixed Media, no cards of ATCs are allowed.
I've signed up for the online Art Journal Summer School at the Blocknote Academy, the course starts today and ends in September. For my DT piece I've decorated the front cover of the journal that I will be using for the course.
I decided not to cover the whole of my black journal just the front cover. I masked the edges with masking tape to make a frame. I gave the cover a coat of gesso.
I painted the cover with Fresco Finish pains layering the paints with stencilling and stamping. I wrote the words Art Journal with a black marker and then painted the words with green paint.
I added more paint and stamping until I got a result that I liked. I gave the cover a coat of matte medium. When the medium had dried I used my indian ink pens to make more marks and to add some scribbles.
Thank you for dropping by to take a look, have a lovely day. xxx

Gothic Arch - Time
Good morning everyone, it’s going to be another beautiful day. I hope you’re all having a lovely bank holiday weekend.
I have a Gothic arch to share with you, I made it for a UK Stampers challenge, the theme is time.
I used Paperartsy Fresco Finish paints on the background and a Seth Apter circle stencil. The doll [Non Sequitur] was stamped onto card that I had previously coloured, I used pencils to add a bit more colour then I cut her out and adhered her to the background. I embellished the arch with remnent rubs, metal clock hands and a word sticker.
Thank you for dropping by to take a look, have a lovely bank holiday Monday whatever you're doing, I'm going to have a lazy day in the garden and perhaps a some crafting. xxx Hazel.

DCD Week 3
Hi everybody, I've my Dylusions Creative Dyary week 3 to share with you today.
I'm entering my diary in the Try It On Tuesday Fire and Ice challenge.
I painted the diary page with blue Fresco paint and stencilled the snowflakes, I added some stickles.
The jumper is part of some junk mail, it was a grey drawing that I coloured with felt tip pens. I added a few doodles and wrote "what you need on a cold and frosty morning is a nice warm wooly jumper"

SPA - Flourishes
Good morning, I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I managed to spend a little time in my craft room and made a postcard for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge, the theme is Flourishes.
The background is from my stash, I stamped some swirls and white circles with Fresco paint, the flower and quote were stamped with black Archival, the flower was coloured with pitt pens, I drew some swirls over the white circles.
All the stamps are Paperartsy apart from the white circles, that was a Dina Wakley stamp.
Thank you for dropping by, have a lovely day. xxx Hazel.

Flourish Postcard
Good morning, it looks like it's going to be another scorcher today, I hope you're all enjoying sunshine wherever you are. I'm now back online after five days without the internet - it seemed longer.
I'm sharing with you today a postcard that I made earlier in the year for a UK Stampers swap the theme was flourishes.
The card was coloured with Fresco Finish paints and the Creative Expressions swirls were stamped with white acrylic paint. I put some tissue tape at the bottom and stamped the main image [Paperartsy] directly onto the card. The moth at the bottom was stamped onto card, coloured, cut out and glued to the card. I added some Tim Holtz small talk stickers.

UK Stampers January Postcard Swap
Good morning everyone. In January I decided to join in with the UK Stampers postcard swap, the theme was anything goes.
For the background I used a baby wipe to spread the Fresco Finish paint. I stamped the images onto the postcard and also onto a lightly patterned paper, The images were cut out and glued over the images on the postcard. I stamped the words and then gave the card a coat of matte medium. When the medium had dried I coloured the images with Faber-Castell Pitt pens. As the postcard had to go in the post I gave it another coat of matte medium for extra protection..
I used a Paperartsy/Jofy stamp for the background grass, for all the other images I used Paperartsy/Elena Guzinska stamps.

Going Dotty
There's a new tag challenge started called Go Tag Thursday, the theme this week is Going Dotty. I made my tag a few months ago and never got round to blogging it.
I used an acrylic tag so all the decorating was done on the back. I don't have the tag anymore but I think I stamped and embossed the image on the front of the tag - I really must write down how I make things.
For the tag I used
Fresco Finish paint.
That's Crafty Dinky Stencil.
PaperArtsy - dotty stamp
Carbelle-Studio - main image and quote.

Christmas Banner
For my Altered Eclectics DT post this month I have a Christmas Banner to share with you. I made the banner at a brilliant Jofy workshop at That's Crafty. As always the challenge theme is Anything Goes as long as its Altered Art/Mixed Media, no cards are allowed.
The wooden pieces were painted and stencilled with Fresco Finish paints, a couple of the pieces were covered with book pages before being painted. I stamped the images with PaperArtsy/Jofy stamps and coloured them with Fresco finish paints. I added wooden snowflakes and some stickles. Below are close up photos of the pieces.
Why not pop over to Altered Eclectics to join in the challenge and have a look at the fabulous samples that the rest of the team have made.

Decorated Candle Holder
Another month has flown by and it's time to share my latest DT post for the latest Altered Eclectics challenge. As always the theme for the challenge is Anything Goes as long as it's mixed media/altered art.
A few years ago I bought a wooden candle holder blank and decided it was time to do something with it. I must admit it's not the colour that I started out to do, it was going to be a peachy colour but ended up being mauve.
First I gave the candle holder a coat of gesso.
I adhered some die cuts and lace that had wooden beads attached.
I added some flowers and metal butterflies and gave them a coat of gesso.
The next steps I haven't got any photos for but I painted the holder with green paint and added a crackle glaze, then I painted it with a cream coloured paint. You can see some of the crackles in the photo.
This is where the holder changes colour. I dry brushed the holder with a mauve paint.
Then I sprayed it with a mauve mica spray.
I then used my finger to spread some pewter gilding wax. The photos below show different areas of the finished candle holder.
I used the following sprays and paints.
Fresco Finish - Granny Smith, Vanilla, wisteria.
Fresco Crackle Glaze.
Tattered Angels Mica Spray.
The rest of my Altered Eclectics team mates have made some wonderful inspirational pieces, so why not take a look.

Altered Eclectics - Stampboard Tea Lights
It's the start of a new month so it's time for the latest Altered Eclectics challenge, as always the theme is Anything Goes as long as it's mixed media or altered art, no cards allowed.
For my DT piece I've decorated a wooden tea light holder with stampboard.
The first two photos show the decorated sides of the tea light holder.
I painted the holder with gesso then I gave it a coat of wisteria Fresco Finish paint. I used a Pitt artist brush pen to ink the flower stamp and stamped the four sides and top.
I used black Stazon ink to stamp the images and Versa Magic Chalk ink to colour them.
When they were finished I glued them to the holder.

June Calendar - Lavender and Dragonflies
Here is my June Calendar for the Craft Barns challenge, the theme is Lavender and Dragonflies.
I coloured the background by scraping a mixture of lavender, wisteria and chalk Fresco Finish Paint over the card.
I used Faber-Castel Pitt big brush pens to colour a PaperArtsy flower stamp.
The dragonflies were stencilled with gesso, when this was dry I coloured them with Inktense pencils and a water brush.

Altered Packaging
It's time for the latest Altered Eclectic challenge. As always the theme is Anything Goes but it must be Mixed Media/Altered Art, no cards are allowed.
For my DT piece this month I decided to turn some Amazon packaging into a colourful folder.
This is the packaging I started with.
I started by covering everything with white gesso and then painted it with acrylic paint.
For my DT piece this month I decided to turn some Amazon packaging into a colourful folder.
This is the packaging I started with.
I started by covering everything with white gesso and then painted it with acrylic paint.
I then scraped some gesso over it using a credit card. I left some of the colour showing and added some shapes and lines using my finger and small brush I also used a stencil in places. I stamped some flowers [Chocolate Baroque] onto book paper and cut them out and glued them to the piece keeping some aside for later.
I then added more colour until I was pleased with the result and then I added some black script. I used a mixture of Fresco Finish, DecoArt and Reeves acrylic paint.
I painted the inside of the folder and glued down the flaps, then I added some of the spare flowers.
I decided to use a magnetic closure so I glued in the magnets and covered the magnet on the front with a flower, then I glued a couple of flowers to card so that they were more sturdy, I glued these to the front and back of the magnet on the flap.
This is the back of the folder.
This is a close up of the paintwork,
Why not pop over the the Altered Eclectic Challenge to see the fabulous pieces that the rest of DT have made.
