HAPPY EASTER everybody. It's the 1st of the month so that means the start of a new challenge over at Altered Eclectics, the theme as always is anything goes as long as it's Mixed Media/Altered Art, no cards or ATCs are allowed.
For my DT piece I've decorated an 8" x 10" canvas.
I painted the canvas with gesso and adhered some book page strips then I added colour with acrylic paint and a brayer. I stencilled some paint and when it had dried I stamped some postmarks and script with black archival ink. I stamped the Paperartsy flowers onto patterned paper, cut them out and adhered them to the canvas. For the words I used a Paperartsy stencil and modleing paste. I gave the canvas a coat of matte medium and when it had dried I coloured the flowers with my pitt pens and went round them with a black pen, I went over the stencilled words with a white pen.
Thank you for visiting, have a lovely Easter and try not to eat too much chocolate. xxx Hazel.

Another Christmas Canvas
It's time for the December challenge at Mixed Media Mojo the theme is Sentiment and the twist is NOT to use red of green.
For my DT piece I've made a Christmas Canvas.
I used the same technique as the canvas on my previous post.
I covered the canvas board thickly with gesso and made marks in it, the tiny stars were made using a very small star icing cutter.
I scraped acrylic paint over the dried gesso.
I used my finger to spread some Treasure Pewter over it.
I decorated it by gluing some gauze to the bottom. I embossed the edges and the gauze with shabby white Frantage enamel, I also used it on the star. The words were done on the computer and die cut, I went round the edge with some distress ink and matted them onto die cut black card. I edged the canvas with Gelatos and a damp brush. I added some glass stars.
Here is a closer look at the star.
Thank you for looking at my project, please take a visit to the Mixed Media Mojo blog to take a look at the beautiful things that the rest of the DT have made.

Christmas Canvas
I can't believe its December already and it's time for Altered Eclectics last challenge of the year and as always the theme is anything goes as long as it's mixed media/altered art. This challenge will last for two months.
For my DT piece I've done a Christmas canvas.
I thickly covered a canvas board with gesso and used a pokey tool to make some marks, they're supposed to be holly leaves.
I scraped some green acrylic paint over the dried gesso .
Then I spread some Treasure Pewter over the canvas.
This is a close up of the canvas.
I decorated the canvas with die cut holly leaves and handmade roses and a decorated ATC size piece of stampboard. I covered the leaves and flowers with stickles.
Here is a close up of the roses.
For the centre piece I used an ATC size stampboard. I stamped the image [The Artistic Stamper] and coloured it with felt tips. I covered it with crackle paint and embossed the edges with gold embossing powder.
This is a close up of the crackle.
I hope you'll be able to join in with the challenge, the rest of the DT have made some fabulous samples and they would love you to take a look.

A Slashing Time At The Craft Barn
Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a good weekend. I'd like to say a big hello to my new followers, it's lovely to have you with me.
A week ago I went to a brilliant Darcy Wilkinson workshop at the Craft Barn, we made a slashed canvas.
Everybody enjoyed themselves using the PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paints and fussy cutting the PaperArtsy stamped images. You can read more about the workshop on Darcy's blog, the link is at the start of this post.

Butterfly Canvas
The theme for the August Challenge over at Mixed Media Mojo is Anything Goes.
For my DT piece I made a Butterfly Canvas.
I started by sprinkling Brushos onto the canvas and spraying with water.
I then covered the canvas with tissue wrap and painted it with clear gesso.
Then I stencilled some DecoArt Media Modelling paste, let it dry and painted it with white gesso.
I then coloured it with Gelatos and sprayed water, when it had dried I stamped some script and splattered with white paint.
For the large butterflies I used a Stampendous stamp and cutting dies, for the small butterfly I used a Martha Stuart punch and stamp. For the quote I used a stamp by The Artistic Stamper.
My DT teamies would love you to visit Mixed Media Mojo to have a look at their fabulous makes.

Mixed Media Wednesday
Today it's my turn to share a project for Mixed Media Wednesday over at Mixed Media Mojo.
I covered a 7"x 5" canvas board with dictionary paper, when the glue was dry I stuck down pieces of very sticky masking tape and pulled it of, this removed some of the paper leaving some of the underside, that had stuck to the glue, showing, I also scraped bits of with my finger nail.
I gave the page a wash with watered down acrylic paint and put other colours on with my finger.
I stamped some crackle and flowers, then I splattered some white acrylic paint over it.
The flower and sentiment were stamped and embossed. I used the stem of the flower to go round the edge, The butterflies were stamped onto previously coloured card and cut out, I painted a glossy accents over them.

Tic Tac Toe
The theme for this months Mixed Media Mojo Challenge is Tic Tac Toe and the twist is to use all the squares.

For my DT piece I decided to use all the squares but it wasn't until I'd finished that I realised I hadn't used any tape.
I started by stencilling some raindrops with modelling paste onto a piece of mount board. I then painted it with gesso and when this had dried I painted it with green and blue acrylic paint. I sprinkled lime green and ultra marine Brushos and sprayed a little water. I stamped some leaves [Sheena Douglas] and coloured them with Inktense pencils and a water brush, then I painted some Glossy Accents onto the raindrops.
A few years ago I had a go at doing the Caught In Crystal technique with acetate and alcohol inks, I still have some pieces left so decided to use it for some flowers. You can just about see the glitter that I had added.
Here is a close up of the die cut flowers.
I wrote the quote and used chipboard letters for the word May. I made a couple of holes and used ribbon for the hanger. I'd stamped some extra leaves, coloured them in and cut them out, I added them to the flowers.
Why not visit the Mixed Media Mojo blog to see the wonderful creations that the rest of the talented DT have made.
I'd like to link my project to the following challenges.
Mixed Media Monthly Challenge - May Flowers
Our Creative Corner - April Showers Bring May Flowers
Rhedd's Creative Spirit - Anything Goes
Altered Eclectics - May DT Post
It's the first of May so it's time for Altered Eclectics new challenge, as always the theme is Anything Goes as long as it's mixed media/altered art, cards and ATCs are not allowed.
My DT piece this month is a set of three canvases that I started at a workshop earlier in the year but didn't get finished, so I've finished them at home and here they are.
I started by glueing tissue wrap, book pages and tissue tape to the canvases and then used grunge paste with a stencil. We cut some hearts out of corrugated card, and used wooden butterflies and hearts, the clock is a Sizzix die. Everything was painted with acrylic paint and we used black antiquing cream on the grunge paste. The last thing I used was Treasure Gold.
Why not pop over to Altered Eclectics to check out the fabulous projects that the rest of my team mates have made.

Bah Humbug
I was thrilled to bits when I got an email from Chris at Country View Crafts Challenges telling me that I'd made the top three in the October challenge and was even more thrilled when I was asked to be a Guest Designer for December.
When I found that the theme for the December challenge is Bah Humbug it took me back to my teacher at junior school sitting the class down and reading A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens to us - it became one of my favourite books.
I decided that my project should have something to do with Scrooge on it - I searched the Internet and found an image of Scrooge being visited by the Ghost of Christmas Present [my favourite ghost] and have used it on my Christmas canvas.
Supplies
Canvas.
Red paint.
Martha Stewart snowflake punch.
Corrugated card.
Shabby white Frantage embossing enamel.
Christmas papers.
Scrooge image of the Internet.
Gecko Galz snowmen and music images.
The Artistic Stamper Santa stamp.
Distress Inks.
Sizzix tattered pine cones die.
Sizzix holly branch die.
Spellbinders die.
Wooden snowflakes.
Ice Stickles.
Ribbon, lace and beads.
I adhered some strips of punched snowflakes to the sides of the canvas and then painted the canvas red, I wiped some of the paint of the snowflakes before the paint dried.
I coloured the back of some patterned paper with distress ink so that when I distressed the edges the white background wouldn't show.
I edged a square of corrugated card with some Frantage embossing enamel, adhered the distressed papers and added the ribbon and lace, then I adhered it to the canvas.
The Santa image was stamped and coloured with distress ink, I die cut the Santa image and snowmen images and edged them with distress ink then adhered them to the canvas.
I made the pine cones and adhered them to the canvas with the holly and beads.
I painted some wooden snowflakes white and added some stickles. I used a lot of stickles on the canvas so it's very glittery - the photo doesn't show it very well.
Here is a side view of the canvas.

Something New
Another fortnight has flown by and it's time for another Craft-Room Challenge the theme is Something New and it has been chosen by the lovely Debi, this is what she has to say about why she chose the theme.
I decided to alter a canvas using some beeswax that I'd bought a few months ago and never used, I also used an Andy Skinner skull mask for the first time. The image and background paper are from the Gecko Galz August products.

Thank you everyone that entered the Bingo challenge, Mervi will have a difficult time choosing her top three.
Have a visit to the Craft-Room Challenge Blog to have a look at the lovely samples that the DT have made.
For my theme I got thinking..... and if you're anything like me, you either have a heap of new stash still waiting to be used, or your Pinterest Boards are full of techniques that you want to try but just haven't got round to it yet lol. So I thought lets have a challenge that might get us using some new stash or a new technique.
Our sponsor is The Stampman.

I painted the canvas with the acrylic paint and stamped the script onto the tissue paper with black Archival ink.
I melted the wax in my melt pot and brushed some wax over the surface of the canvas, then I lay the background paper over the canvas and brushed some of the wax over it then I did the same
with the image and tissue paper.
I then stencilled the skull, stars and harlequin using the gold embossing paste.
When the paste has dried I brushed some wax over the surface and smoothed the
surface with myheat gun. I then let some of the wax drip on the edges –
when the drips of wax had set I went over them with the gilding wax using my finger. The last thing I did was to polish the surface with a soft cloth.Thank you everyone that entered the Bingo challenge, Mervi will have a difficult time choosing her top three.

So Sentimental
Another fortnight has gone by so it's time for another Craft Room Challenge. The theme is So Sentimental and it has been chosen by the lovely Mervi. She would like to see texts, scripts, messages clearly on your projects.
Tando Creative are the sponsors for the challenge.
I decided to make a canvas for my DT piece.
I adhered a torn piece of a book page to the canvas and then I painted the canvas with Fresco Finish paint and stamped various images. I used a Imagination Crafts stencil and DecoArt Modeling paste for the leaves. When it had dried I painted the leaves and using my finger put some Treasure Gold metalic wax on them. Using my finger I added the modeling paste to the edge of the canvas and when it had dried I added some metalic wax.
I embossed some Frantage embossing powder over some Tando Creative butterflies and adhered them to the canvas. I die cut a label with a Spellbinders die and stamped the sentiment.
I used PaperArtsy stamps for the background and the sentiment is an Artistic Stamper stamp.
Here are some close ups of the butterflies.
The rest of the design team have made some fabulous samples so why not visit the Craft Room blog and take a look.
I'm entering my canvas in the Country View Crafts Butterfly Challenge.
