Love

February has flown by and it's the last day of the Art Journal Journey challenge If Music Be The Food Of Love. I've enjoyed hosting the challenge and I'd like to thank everyone that entered - your creations were wonderful - so many different styles of crafting. Thank you also Valerie and Susi for letting me host the challenge. I've made one last entry for the challenge.

For the background I used Brushos and acrylic paint, I also did some stencilling with modelling paste and let some acrylic ink run down the pages. The stamps I've used are by Dina Wakley, I've also used a little bit of tissue wrap.

Thank you for looking.

A Red Red Rose

Good morning everyone, not done much crafting for awhile as some nasty bug has laid me low for a couple of weeks but I'm getting better and have started to feel human again. Today I'm sharing a journal page that I've made for the Art Journal Journey challenge - If Music Be The Food Of Love. I've taken my inspiration from the Robert Burns poem "A Red Red Rose".

I covered my page with a piece of gift wrap.

Then I gave it a coat of gesso using a brayer. I used a My Craft Studio silhouette image for the couple  and added some tissue wrap music and some roses cut out of the gift wrap that I had left. I printed the Robert Burns poem.

Here is the poem, sorry it's a bit blurred.

Song Birds

We're having trouble with the internet at the moment, it's been going on and off every few minutes for the last couple of days and it's driving me mad, I'm hoping that it will last long enough for me to get this post done.

I've done another page for the Art Journal Journey  challenge - If Music Be The Food Of Love.

I used a brayer to colour the background. I stamped the birds on a wire and coloured them with pencils, I stamped the bird on the branch and also stamped it onto white card and coloured it in, I cut it out and glued it over the image on the page. I drew the leaves and coloured them in with pencils. I put some tissue tape across the top and stamped the postmark onto card and cut it out. The small birds were stamped onto card, coloured and cut out. I added some tissue wrap at the bottom. I wrote the words.
The stamps I used are
Inkylicious - birds on the wire.
The Artistic Stamper - bird on the branch.
TJ Designs - small birds and postmark.

Thank you for looking, the internet has held out so now I might be able to get some commenting done.

Alpha/Dictionary Challenge - F

The latest letter in the Craft Barns Alpha/Dictionary challenge is the letter F and we must put a heart on our entries as well.

I decided to go for F is for Fabric.

Here is my postcard.

I used fabric that came free with a magazine. I glued some fabric on the postcard and added some lace and burlap. The fabric had a heart and a flower on it, so I cut them out and glued them to the postcard, I also added a button.
I put a strip of fabric along the bottom and added the dictionary meaning.

A Gothic Romance

I'm hosting the challenge at Art Journal Journey this month and the theme I've chosen is If Music Be The Food Of Love. We've had a lot of wonderful entries, so if you have a few moments to spare why not go and take a look or enter the challenge.

I've been a fan of Matthew Bourne's since I first saw his Swan Lake where all the swans are men. I've been to see a few of his ballets but have only seen his Sleeping Beauty on film so when I found out it was on at Sadler's Wells over Christmas and New Year I knew I had to go. I wasn't disappointed - it was amazing and so romantic.

For my journal page I photocopied the flyer for the show and cut out some of the images.

I painted the pages with black gesso and stamped the La Blanche rose with VersaMagic ink. I wrote the words with a white Sharpie pen.

Thank you for looking, have a lovely day.

The small hearts were stamped onto the card and the large heart was stamped onto card that had been coloured with Brushos and cut out. The butterfly lady was stamped onto card, coloured with pencils and cut out. I wrote the words and drew squiggly lines round the edge.
Stamps used:
Indigo Blu - splodges.
Dina Wakley - hearts.

That's Amore

Hi everyone, today I'm sharing another journal page that I've made for the Art Journal Journey - If Music Be The Food Of Love.

In my Gecko Galz collection of images I found an image of some script with the word amore, straight away all I could think of was Dean Martin singing the song That's Amore.
I enlarged the image and printed it, I tore round the edges and glued it to my journal page. I painted the page with acrylic paint, I let some of the paint drip down the page. I enlarged one of my photos of the moon and printed it and glued it to the page. I stencilled some stars using some Imagination Crafts Sparkle medium. I went a bit mad with the stars so I tore some bits of music from some tissue wrap and glued them over some of the stars. I printed a photo of Dean Martin and glued him to the page. The words are the first line of the song and I did them on the computer.

A close up of the Sparkle Medium stars.

Love Is Like A Butterfly

I've made another journal page for the Art Journal Journey challenge, the theme is If The Music Be The Food Of Love.

The quote says "Love is like a butterfly, it goes where it pleases and it pleases wherever it goes".

I started by covering the pages with a pretty butterfly paper napkin,

I then added some pink and mauve acrylic paint with my finger.

I then glued a butterfly and some music that I'd cut out of tissue wrap and then I gave the pages a thin coat of gesso.

I stamped some circles, letters and dots with Versamagic chalk inks, the stamps that I used are Indigo Blu and PaperArtsy. I used a Stampendous die and stamp to die cut and stamp the butterflies out of patterned paper, I glued them to the page, I did the words on the computer. I gave the whole page a coat of Multi Matte Medium.

When the matte medium had dried I gave the butterflies and words a bit more colour and shading using Faber-Castell Pitt pens. I also added a bit of colour to the edges.

SPA - Add A Charm

Add A Charm is the Sunday Postcard Art challenge this week.

I used a Creative Expressions stamp to stamp the bird houses onto card and used distress ink to colour the images and the background. I stamped another birdhouse and the words onto scrap card and coloured them with distress ink. I used an embossing folder to emboss the card and I stamped some birds. I cut out the images on the scrap card and glued them to the card and added a couple of bird charms. The embossed card was too small to be a postcard so I distressed the edges and glued it to a postcard,  I drew lines round the edge.

Heart Journal Page

Before I share today's post with you I would like to say a big hello to my new followers, lovely to have you join me.

Today I'm sharing a journal page with you, I'm linking my page to Art Journal Journey, I'm hosting the challenge this month and I've chosen the theme If Music Be The Food Of Love.

Here is my Page.

The pages in the journal that I've used are very thin so I gave the page two coats of gesso, when this was dry I coloured the page with Gelatos, spreading them with my fingers.

I used a heart stencil and a baby wipe to remove some of the colour, the word love is also a stencil.

I stamped some script on the page and stamped round the edges with a Dina Wakley heart stamp.

I splattered the page with white paint and used a white pen to put some dots round the black hearts. I stamped the two main hearts onto a book page and cut them out. The stamps I used are Elusive Images[Chocolate Baroque]. I glued the hearts to the page and added a couple of red gems.

Thank you for looking and have a lovely weekend.

Queen Of Hearts

I cheated a bit with this journal page, I've used a topper that I made for a valentines card for my husband a few years ago, I make him a card every year but I'm sure if I gave him the same one every year he wouldn't notice.

I'm linking my page to the Art Journal Journey challenge - If Music Be The Food Of Love.

The only thing that I can remember about what I used on the topper is that the image is a Crafty Individuals stamp and everything was coloured with distress ink.
I painted the background with gesso and stencilled some hearts with modelling paste. When the paste was dry I sprayed some creme de chocolat Glimmer Mist and let it run down the page, when this was dry I then sprayed some turquoise blue Glimmer Mist and let that run down the page. I stamped round the edge with a Dina Wakley swirly stamp and some white distress paint, it doesn't show up very well - you can just about see it at the bottom. The last thing I did was to add a little bit of music tissue tape.

Have a lovely day.

Q is For Queen

Q is the latest letter in the Craft Barns Alpha/Dictionary challenge.

I used a Gelli print for the background and stamped the PaperArtsy image onto the postcard and also onto a piece of white card. I stamped the Ecogreen Crafts swirls around the edges and embossed with gold, the ink on the image hadn't dried properly so parts of that got embossed as well. I cut out the head from the image on the white card and glued it over the image on the postcard. I stamped the crown with Stazon onto gold card and cut it out, I glued it onto the head and added some gems. I added the part of the dictionary page that had the definition of queen and stamped the letter Q.

Thank you for looking.

SPA - Orange

Orange is the theme for this weeks Sunday Postcard Art challenge.

I made the background of my postcard sometime last year using Gelatos and a PaperArtsy stencil. I used a baby wipe on the stencil to take away some of the Gelatos.

I put some orange Magic Colour Liquid Acrylic at the top of the card and sprayed with water so that it ran down the card, when this was dry I turned the card upside down and did the same with green Magic Colour. I used a pen to outline the leaves. I stamped the PaperArtsy tulip onto card and coloured it with pencils and felt tips, I cut it out and went round the edges with black ink and glued it to the postcard, then I stamped the word tulip.

Have a good day

Mixed Media Mojo - Hearts/Paper Piecing

It's the first of the month so that means that it's time for the latest Mixed Media Mojo challenge, the theme is Hearts and the twist is paper piecing.

For my DT piece I've done a journal page.
I'm going to link it to the Art Journal Journey challenge If Music Be The Food Of Love.

I covered the page with tissue wrap and used an old credit card to scrape acrylic paint over it. I stamped some hearts [Dina wakley] with Versamark ink I also stamped some script with black Archival ink, the word love is a Dina Wakley stamp.
For the hearts I cut some strips of patterned paper and glued them to a piece of card then I die cut the hearts with the Sizzex primitive hearts die. I glued the hearts to the page and doodled some dots round them. I added some string and doodled some bows. I die cut some small hearts and wrote the letters on them, then I glued them to the page.

AJJ Challenge - If Music Be The Food Of Love

I was so thrilled and excited when Valerie and Susi got in touch with me a few months ago asking me to host the February Art Journal Journey Challenge. As it's February I thought that the theme should something about love so in the end I decided  to use part of the first line from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night – “If Music Be The Food Of Love”, there are lots of possibilities with this theme, it doesn’t have to be about love and romance, it could just be about music or food or anything that you love. I hope that you will take part in the challenge.

Here is my page.

I started by covering the page with tissue wrap and I used a brayer to cover it with acrylic paint. I used the following stamps on the background.
Kaisercraft - music and edge.
Dina Wakley - large hearts.
PaperArtsy - dots.
Clearly Impressed - Love.
Judikins - small music notes.

The image is a Gecko Galz digi stamp that I printed and coloured in with pencils. I cut it out and glued it to the page. I was quite pleased with the page but wished I hadn't stamped the small hearts as I think it looks a bit cluttered.

Thank you for looking. This is my second post of the day - just one more to go.

Altered Tic Tac Toe Board

It's February already and time for Altered Eclectics first challenge of the year, as always it's Anything Goes as long as it's Mixed Media/Altered Art - no cards.

For my DT piece I've altered a tic tac toe board

I've had this board in my stash for years and thought it was time to do something with it.

I first gave it a coat of gesso and then painted it with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paint.

I added some Aged Spice Frantage embossing enamel and oceanic Crushed Glass Glitter. I used a felt tip pen to colour some little wooden houses. I painted the heart with red acrylic paint and covered it with some crackle paste. I glued the houses and heart to the board.

A close up of the Frantage enamel and the heart.
