March Bullet Journal

Hi everyone. This year I’ve started a bullet journal and am sharing some of my March pages with you. I never really saw the point of these journals until I watched some videos and thought I’d have a go - I’m now hooked.
I’m entering my spread in the Art Journal Journey challenge, the theme is the colour yellow.

One of the first signs of spring in my garden are the yellow flowers on my forsythia hedge so they are the inspiration for my March pages. I drew the flowers and coloured them with coloured pencils. I made a lot of mistakes with January and February and am learning with each month. Below are some more pages that are finished and ready to be filled, there are another eight not quite finished.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog, you're all very welcome, have a lovely day. xxx

Your’e a Star

Good morning everyone. Geometric shapes is the theme chosen by Alison at Art Journal Journey

I would also like to enter my page in the Moo Mania And More challenge Cold and Frosty Colours.

The background was a mop up page in my journal. I stamped some stars with metalic glaze on the background but they don't show up very well. I stamped some larger stars [Carabelle Studio] and doodled on them with white pen. I adhered a Tim Holtz paper doll to a large star that I'd cut out of previously coloured card. I drew zig zag lines round the page to frame the image and coloured it with a silver Posca pen. The photo below shows the silver star sequins that I'd adhered to the page.

Thank you for dropping by, have a lovely weekend. xxx

Sunny Landscapes

Were having a new boiler fitted today and the front door is wide open and I'm freezing, so I decided to share one of the pages that I made for the Art Journal Summer School 2018, the guest teacher was Marlene Meijer-Van Niekerk, I loved this lesson and I'm hoping that thinking of the sunny landscape will warm me up a little.

I'm entering my page into the Art Journal Journey  Creature Comforts challenge chosen by Linda, being warm to me is defiantly a creature comfort.

For the fields I adhered some patterned paper to the page, and the rest of the background was coloured with Decoart acrylic paint. I used acrylic paint and Neocolour 2 to colour the colourful striped field, this is to represent fields of tulips growing. For the houses I used Paperartsy stamps, I used a Finnabair stamp on some gold card for the circle. The sun is stencilled with a Tim Holtz stencil and acrylic paint, the flowers were stencilled with black acrylic paint. I used a Dina Wakley stamp for the trees at the bottom.

Well I haven't warmed up but Iv'e enjoyed looking at my sunny page. Thank you for dropping by to take a look, you're all very welcome. xxx

Moon Godess

Good morning everybody, the sun is shining today, I hope it lasts. Today I'm sharing a journal page that I made in July, it was made for a Burkmates Creative Outlets challenge (James Burkes Facebook group}. James posted an image of one of his drawings and we could use it anyway we wanted.

I'm entering my page in the Art Journal Journey challenge A World Of Fantasy, the theme was chosen by Yvonne.

I used Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powder and a stencil for the background, I printed James image and cut her out together with the moons. I drew the dangling stars and coloured them and her hair with a gold Imagination Crafts starlighs paint. I added gold splatters and edged the page with a black marker. The shimmer on the page doesn't show up very well on the photo.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look, have a lovely day. xxx

Butterfly Make and Take

A few weeks ago I went to Ally Pally and did a great make and take with the lovely Tracy Evans using the stamps she designed for AALL & Create. I was really pleased with what I made and decided to turn it into an art journal page.

I'm entering my page in the Art Journal Journey Flora and Fauna challenge.

I made the background the same way as the make and take using gesso, AALL & Create stamps and stencils and distress oxides. I adhered the make and take to some black card and adhered it to the background. I added a couple of stencilled words and word stickers.

This is the make and take that I made.

Thank you for dropping by, have a lovely Sunday. xxx Hazel.

Dragonfly Journal Page

Hi everybody, I'm sharing a journal page with you today and I'm also entering it into the Art Journal Journey Recycle and Collage challenge.

I used one of the pages in my Dina Wakley joural. I started by making a collage of patterned paper, tissue wrap, music and book pages. I stencilled some modelling paste with a Crafters Workshop stencil. I added some colour with Gellatos and water letting some of the colour run. I dry brushed some Imagination Craft Starlight paint over the stencilling and added some white splatters. The  words were stamped with an Artistic Stamper stamp. For the dragonfly I printed a Gecko Galz image, adhered it to some card and cut it out. I put stickles on the wings before adhering it to the page. Lastly I used a black pen to doodle round the edge of the page.

A close up of the dragonfly - you can just about see the glitter on the wings.

Thank you for visiting my blog, have a lovely weekend. xxx Hazel.

Flower Collage

Hi everybody, today I'm sharing an art journal spread with you that I've made for Alison's Art Journal Journey Collage/Recycle challenge.

The background of my spread is a mop up from another project. I stencilled some script with modelling paste and cut out lots of flowers from some patterned paper and adhered them to my spread. I then adhered the magazine image and more flowers. I added some word stickers and gave the page a coat of matte medium, then I went round the flowers and image with a pitt pen to give them some shadow.

It looks like were going to have another lovely sunny day here, I hope it's going to be the same for you. Thank you for dropping by and have a good day. xxx Hazel.

AJJ - Recycle and Collage

Good morning all, I hope you're having a good weekend, I had a great day at Ally Pally yesterday, it was lovely catching up with people that I haven't seen for a while and buying new goodies to add to my huge craft stash.

On Wednesday I had a lovely day being creative with my my friend Alison/Craftytrog, she's hosting this months Art Journal Journey challenge, the theme that she's chosen is Recycle and Collage. I made an art journal page, it has a little bit of collage on it so I'm entering it in the challenge.

The background was a mop up page in one of my journals, I adhered a strip of patterned paper on the left hand side of the page and added some stencilling and some stamping with black Archival ink, I then added some strips of patterned paper and the lovely green butterflies that I found on some paper in my stash. The words were stamped onto white paper with Finnabair stamps and I added some remnant rubs. I gave the page a coat of matte medium and when it had dried I used my pitt pens to add some shading.

Spring Tulips

The weather has been a bit better today, it was lovely and warm in the sun when I walked the dogs earlier today so perhaps spring will be here soon. I love all the spring bulbs that are flowering at the moment, especially tulips, so today I'm sharing a simple drawing of some tulips.

I'm entering my drawing in the Art Journal Journey Spring challenge.

I drew the tulips and coloured them with watercolour pencils. I lightly coloured the background and stamped some script and added some splatters. I stamped the word tulip but its's a bit wonky.

E is for Elephant

Hi everybody, still not a lot of crafting being done at the moment but I've managed to make a journal page for the Art Journal Journey challenge the theme was chosen by Rike and is Animals A - Z.

Santorini Sunset

I'm hosting this months Art Journal Journey challenge, my theme is a Magical Mystery Tour, there has been some wonderful entries and I've enjoyed looking at them, Bluebeard and Elizabeth has made some gorgeous pages of Santorini and it reminded me that I did a painting of Santorini last year for an online workshop that I was doing. It's not that good and it never got blogged but I was quite pleased with it, so on this very cold day my old London bus has taken me to be in the lovely sunshine at Santorini.

Thank you for dropping by.

Mad Tea Party Journal Page

Good morning all, it's a lovely bright morning here - a bit chilly though.

I'm linking my page to the Art Journal Journey challenge the theme is Magical Mystery Tour.

My old London bus whooshed me through the swirly tunnel to visit the Mad Hatter's Tea Party,

I decided to have a go at a digital page and for the background I used one of my photographs of a field of buttercups.

I added images from a My Craft Studio programme called Make A Date. When I was happy with the result I printed it and glued into my journal.

I painted the swirl with white acrylic paint and stamped the Emma Godfrey swirl with black Archival ink. I stamped the Paperartsy bus onto shrink plastic with Stazon and shrunk it, I glued it to the page. I cut some words out of an old Alice In Wonderland book, stamped some Indigo Blu words and a Non Sequitur clock and added them to the page. I doodled round the edge of the page.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look.
