Altered Wooden Clock

Good morning everyone, it’s March 1st already and time for the latest  Altered Eclectics challenge, as always the theme is anything goes as long as it’s altered art/mixed media, paper crafts aren’t allowed.
I've altered a wooden clock for my DT project.

I found this wooden clock in a local charity shop.

I gave the clock a coat of gesso then a coat of Decoart paynes grey acrylic paint, I then gave it a coat of Weathered Wood crackle medium and a coat of Decoart spa blue acrylic paint, I waited for the cracks to appear, I wasn't happy with the crackle, I must have put the crackle medium on too thick as the cracks are quite wide.

I covered the clock with a napkin that has blue roses on it.

I sprayed some cofffee shop Glimmer mist at the bottom of the clock and added some washi tape.

To decorate the clock I used my finger to spread some Imagination Craft moonlight black wax over some silver metal flowers and a paper flower that had been sprayed with moonlight Glimmer Mist. I also used my finger to spread a little treasure pewter on the edges of the clock.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look, have a lovely day. xxx

Moon Godess

Good morning everybody, the sun is shining today, I hope it lasts. Today I'm sharing a journal page that I made in July, it was made for a Burkmates Creative Outlets challenge (James Burkes Facebook group}. James posted an image of one of his drawings and we could use it anyway we wanted.

I'm entering my page in the Art Journal Journey challenge A World Of Fantasy, the theme was chosen by Yvonne.

I used Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powder and a stencil for the background, I printed James image and cut her out together with the moons. I drew the dangling stars and coloured them and her hair with a gold Imagination Crafts starlighs paint. I added gold splatters and edged the page with a black marker. The shimmer on the page doesn't show up very well on the photo.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look, have a lovely day. xxx

Dragonfly Journal Page

Hi everybody, I'm sharing a journal page with you today and I'm also entering it into the Art Journal Journey Recycle and Collage challenge.

I used one of the pages in my Dina Wakley joural. I started by making a collage of patterned paper, tissue wrap, music and book pages. I stencilled some modelling paste with a Crafters Workshop stencil. I added some colour with Gellatos and water letting some of the colour run. I dry brushed some Imagination Craft Starlight paint over the stencilling and added some white splatters. The  words were stamped with an Artistic Stamper stamp. For the dragonfly I printed a Gecko Galz image, adhered it to some card and cut it out. I put stickles on the wings before adhering it to the page. Lastly I used a black pen to doodle round the edge of the page.

A close up of the dragonfly - you can just about see the glitter on the wings.

Thank you for visiting my blog, have a lovely weekend. xxx Hazel.

E is for Elephant

Hi everybody, still not a lot of crafting being done at the moment but I've managed to make a journal page for the Art Journal Journey challenge the theme was chosen by Rike and is Animals A - Z.

I painted the edge of the page with black acrylic paint and stamped the flowers onto a geli print, I tore the edges and adhered it to the page. I coloured the flowers with felt tips and stencilled some gold Imagination Crafts starlight paint. I used a wooden block to stamp the black elephants. The little elephant image was on the front of a card that a friend sent me.

The flower stamp is by Elusive Images.

Thank you for visiting my blog, have a lovely day. xxx Hazel.

Christmas Coasters

Good morning everybody - I can't believe that it's December already, the year has flown by and the weather has turned very wintry - it's bitterly cold and we had our first snow yesterday.

Today I'm sharing with you some Christmas coasters that I've made for the Altered Eclectics design team. As always the challenge is Anything Goes as long as its Mixed Media or Altered Art - cards are not accepted.

I used beer mat blanks for the coasters.

I was going to paint the mats but decided to cover them with some gelli prints instead.

For the toppers I used a brayer with acrylic paint to colour some card, I also stencilled some stars with Imagination Craft Starlight paint. I stamped the images with black Archival ink.

I stamped the images onto white copy paper, coloured them with pitt pens and cut them out.

I glued the toppers to the mats.

Then I glued the cut out images onto the images on the mats.

The last thing I did was to give the mats a few coats of Decoart polyurethane varnish.

I enjoyed making the mats and will be making more.

Stamps used:
Artemeo - holly.
Inca Stamps - poinsettia.
Paperartsy/Zinski - Rudolf

Thank you dropping by, why not pop over to Altered Eclectics to take a look at the wonderful inspirational pieces that the rest of the DT have made.

Altered Wooden Box

The first of the month so that means another challenge at Altered Eclectics, as always the challenge is Anything Altered/Mixed Media no cards allowed.

For my DT piece I've altered a wooden box.

I took the lid of the box.

Then I painted it with Decoart paint.

I then covered it with Imagination Crafts rice paper.

I coloured some card with decoart paint and stamped some Honey Doo flowers on it, I cut the flowers out and painted some distress crackle paint over them, the wooden bird was painted with the paint, then I added a metal clock charm and some metal flowers.

The rest of the design team have made some wonderful pieces and would love you to visit them to take a look.

Thank you for dropping by. xxx Hazel.

That's Amore

Hi everyone, today I'm sharing another journal page that I've made for the Art Journal Journey - If Music Be The Food Of Love.

In my Gecko Galz collection of images I found an image of some script with the word amore, straight away all I could think of was Dean Martin singing the song That's Amore.
I enlarged the image and printed it, I tore round the edges and glued it to my journal page. I painted the page with acrylic paint, I let some of the paint drip down the page. I enlarged one of my photos of the moon and printed it and glued it to the page. I stencilled some stars using some Imagination Crafts Sparkle medium. I went a bit mad with the stars so I tore some bits of music from some tissue wrap and glued them over some of the stars. I printed a photo of Dean Martin and glued him to the page. The words are the first line of the song and I did them on the computer.

A close up of the Sparkle Medium stars.

Thank you for looking.

First Post Of The Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone, this is my first post of the year and it's my DT piece for the Mixed Media Mojos January challenge, The theme is Winter with Glitter as the twist.

My project is a journal page.

I'm linking my page to the Art Journal Journey challenge - Winter Wonderland.

I covered my page with a very dark Gelli print, using a palette knife I spread some gesso that had gone very thick over it and added some white acrylic paint, I stamped the Artemio trees with Archival ink.

I covered the snowy area and parts of the trees with Imagination Crafts Sparkle Medium.

I stamped the Personal Impressions images onto white card, coloured them with coloured pencils and cut them out. After gluing them to the page I splattered some white paint over everything. The words are PaperArtsy stamps.

Here is a close up of the snowman showing the glitter. Sorry the photos are so dark, the light wasn't very good when I took them.

Thank you for looking, enjoy your day.

So Sentimental

Another fortnight has gone by so it's time for another Craft Room Challenge. The theme is So Sentimental and it has been chosen by the lovely Mervi. She would like to see texts, scripts, messages clearly on your projects.
Tando Creative are the sponsors for the challenge.

I decided to make a canvas for my DT piece.

I adhered a torn piece of a book page to the canvas and then I painted the canvas with Fresco Finish paint and stamped various images. I used a Imagination Crafts stencil and DecoArt Modeling paste for the leaves. When it had dried I painted the leaves and using my finger put some Treasure Gold metalic wax on them. Using my finger I added the modeling paste to the edge of the canvas and  when it had dried I added some metalic wax.
I embossed some Frantage embossing powder over some Tando Creative butterflies and adhered them to the canvas. I die cut a label with a Spellbinders die and stamped the sentiment.
I used PaperArtsy stamps for the background and the sentiment is an Artistic Stamper stamp.
Here are some close ups of the butterflies.

The rest of the design team have made some fabulous samples so why not visit the Craft Room blog and take a look.

I'm entering my canvas in the Country View Crafts Butterfly Challenge.
