First Post Of The Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone, this is my first post of the year and it's my DT piece for the Mixed Media Mojos January challenge, The theme is Winter with Glitter as the twist.

My project is a journal page.

I'm linking my page to the Art Journal Journey challenge - Winter Wonderland.

I covered my page with a very dark Gelli print, using a palette knife I spread some gesso that had gone very thick over it and added some white acrylic paint, I stamped the Artemio trees with Archival ink.

I covered the snowy area and parts of the trees with Imagination Crafts Sparkle Medium.

I stamped the Personal Impressions images onto white card, coloured them with coloured pencils and cut them out. After gluing them to the page I splattered some white paint over everything. The words are PaperArtsy stamps.

Here is a close up of the snowman showing the glitter. Sorry the photos are so dark, the light wasn't very good when I took them.

Thank you for looking, enjoy your day.
xxx Hazel.

A Vintage Christmas

It's time for another Craft-Room Challenge, Mervi is the hostess and as Christmas is only a month away she would like to see some vintage style Christmas cards or presents.

Our sponsor for the challenge is Rogue Redhead.

I've made a card for my DT piece.

I wrapped some ribbon round some Gecko Galz holly background paper and adhered it to a card blank. The image was stamped with walnut stain Distress ink and adhered to a square doily. The holly leaves were covered with Ice Stickles before I put them on the card, then I added some red beads. I adhered some die cut icicles and covered then with the stickles, I also put some stickles on the image.

Items used
Personal Impressions - the stamped image.
Sizzix Holly Branch die.
Marianne Designs Icicle die.

The rest of the design team have made some fabulous samples and would love you to visit the Craft-Room Challenge to take a look.

Tea and Cake Deco Pages

Hi everybody, I hope you are all well, before I show you my pages I must apologise for my lack of commenting - I've got behind again and hope to catch up at the weekend.

These are the pages that I've made for Anne in the KCUK deco swap - the theme for her book is Tea and Cakes.

This is the tea page. I covered the page with some teacup peel offs before colouring it with picked raspberry and squeezed lemonade Distress ink, then I removed the peel offs. I then stamped the background.
I stamped the main images onto white card and coloured them with Promarkers then I fussy cut them and adhered them to the card and added the sentiment.
The stamps I used are
Character Construction for the main images and background.
Papermania for the sentiment.

This is the cake page. I used the same coloured distress inks for this background and stamped some hearts. I stamped the cakes and coloured them with Promarkers and I also used glitter pens to colour them, I then fussy cut them and adhered them to the card, then I added the sentiments.
The stamps I used are
Personal Impressions for the cakes.
Molly Blooms for the hearts and banner.

Craft Room Colour Challenge

Sadly the Craft Room online store is closing so this is the last challenge that the store will be sponsoring. The randomly drawn winner of this challenge will receive Andy Skinners Batik Garden stamp set. Why not pop over to the Craft Room and grab a bargain as there is a massive 40% discount at the moment.

The latest Craft-Room challenge is a colour challenge and the colours to use are BROWN ORANGE and CREAM.

It's my brother in laws birthday this week so I decided that my DT piece would be his birthday card.
I covered a card blank with dark brown card and then matted various papers and card onto it. I wrapped some bakers twine round the stamped image before attaching it to the card and added a silver fish charm and the sentiment.
The stamps that I used are
Personal Impressions for the main image.
After Midnight Art Stamps for the sentiment.

I'm entering my card into the Just For Fun  Sporty For a Man challenge.

Why not pop over to the Craft Room Challenge blog to see the fabulous work that the rest of the DT has done and to enter your own work.

Acrylic Block Printing

KCUK's challenge this month is to use acrylic blocks to make backgrounds.
What you do is scribble felt tip pens onto an acrylic block, spray it with water and then stamp it onto card, it gives you a nice background to stamp on.
I used very old cheap felt tips that I have from when the kids went to school. These are some of the cards that I made.

  Stamps, Dina Wakley.

Stamps, Hampton Art for the dragonfly and Hobby Art for the sentiment.

Stamps, Penny Black for the iris and Stampotique for the sentiment.

Stamps, Personal Impressions for the daffodil and Stampotique for the sentiment.

Chunky Alphabet Book S T and U

Here are my STand U pages for the Chunky Alphabet Book swap over on KCUK.
S is for strawberry.
I coloured the background with distress ink and then stamped some strawberries over it with the same colour. I stamped the main image onto cream card and coloured the edges with distress ink and coloured the image with Promarkers. The large strawberry was stamped and coloured with Promarkers, the two smaller strawberries were cut out of some patterned paper. I double embossed the strawberries with clear embossing powder before attaching to the page.
T is for tea party.
The background paper is from my stash. I stamped the main image onto white card then masked it of before colouring with broken china Distress Ink then I went round the edges with weathered wood. I removed the mask and left the image white then I matted it onto some pink card. I attached part of a book page to the background then attached the main image. The cup and saucer were stamped onto white card and coloured with Promarkers the letter T is a rub on. Last but not least I added a silver teapot charm to the image.
U is for umbrella.
The page is coloured with broken china and weathered wood Distress Ink and I used my finger to go round the edge with rusty hinge. I stamped the image with dried marigold onto the background then stamped it onto white card with black ink and coloured it with dried marigold, then I cut it out and attached it to the card. I stamped the image twice again and cut the umbrellas out, two were left black and white and I coloured the other two with Promarkers. I attached them to the page together with a torn piece of a dictionary and some raindrop and splat stickers from my stash.

Stamps used.
Craft Stamper free stamp, background strawberry and teacup and saucer.
Joanna Sheen, strawberry recipe.
Personal Impressions, strawberry.
Lost Coast Designs, tea party.
Magenta, umbrellas.

Cherry Ripe

I made this card for the Bella Muse challenge on Bella Creations.
We were given the image to use on whatever we wanted, I decided to make a card. The background paper is a freebie from the Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine, I've had it for a long time, knew it would come in useful one day. I attached it to a brown pearl card blank. I put a strip of turquoise card across the middle with a strip of some free paper. Using the same colour card as the card blank I used a Spellbinder die for the border and a Marianne die for the flourish. I stamped some cherries onto white card and coloured them with Promarkers, then I cut them out and double embossed them with some clear embossing powder to make them glossy then I attached them to the card. The sentiment is a sticker from my stash. The last thing I did was to put some sticky backed red gems along the border.

Stamps used.
Personal Impressions for the cherries.

Chunky Alphabet Book G H and I

G is for Glamour Girl.
The stamp I used for the background flourishes is a Darcies stamp. I'm not sure what make the stamps are that I used for the main image and words. I stamped them onto white card and matted them onto black card. I added some gems for a bracelet and a ring and added gems all around the edge of the page. Wish I'd signed my name in a different place.
H is for Hitchcock.
I stuck a strip of tissue tape [that I was never going to buy, not ever lol] to the top and bottom of the page, then I stamped Alfred [Cherry Pie Art Stamps] onto a piece of card that looks like a film strip and then stuck this across the middle of the page. The words are out of an old dictionary. Last but not least I attached a metal H to the page with a couple of brads.
I is for Ice Cream.
I used a Xyron Design Runner for the words, it took me a few attempts to try and get them straight, this was the best I could do. I stamped the background with a stamp by Pink Cat Studio and I coloured the edges of the page with distress ink. I embossed the three ice creams [Personal Impressions] with a shimmery embossing powder and coloured them in with Promarkers, after cutting the images out I spread Stickles over the ice cream, when this was dry I stuck them to the page with silicone glue.
