Craft-Room Challenge - Picture Inspiration

Another fortnight has flown by and it's time for another craft-Room Challenge. This is the last challenge of the year and sadly it will be the last ever Craft-Room Challenge. It's been a difficult and busy year for some of the DT  and other members are moving to new pastures so we've decided to call it a day. Debi is the hostess of this last challenge and she has a lovely picture for us all to be inspired by.

Our sponsor for the challenge is The MDF Man

Inspiration Picture

For my DT piece I've decorated a frame and taken my inspiration from the roses, colour blue, snow and frost.

I gave the frame a couple of coats of gesso and then painted it blue, when the paint dried I dry brushed a paler blue over the top. I stencilled some snowflakes with modelling paste, when the paste dried I sprayed the frame with Glimmer Mist and melted some white Frantage embossing enamel. I printed the image and painted the edges with blue paint then I put it in the frame. I die cut the leaves and ivy and covered them with Stickles. I've had some red roses in my stash for a long time and I covered them with frosted lace Stickles. Then I glued them to the frame and added some silver cord.

A close up of the frame.

A close up of the flowers.

The rest of DT have been inspired by the picture and have made some gorgeous samples so why not visit the Craft-Room and take a look.

Craft-Room Challenge - 3D

Good morning all, it's time for another Craft-Room Challenge and it's the lovely Christi's turn to choose the theme, she has chosen 3D. You can create anything as long as there's a 3D element on it.

Our sponsor this time around is Tando Creative.

For my DT piece I've made three 3D decoupaged Christmas cards. I use to do a lot of 3D decoupage years ago and it made a nice change to to do some again.

I've shown the front and side view of the cards, the side view is to show the layers. My photos aren't very good as the light wasn't very good when I took them.
There's not a lot to say about the cards - I cut out all the bits and used silicone glue to adhere them to the card.

The rest of the DT have made some great samples and would love you to visit the Craft-Room to take a look

A Vintage Christmas At The Craft-Room

Time for another Craft-Room Challenge. We do not have a host this time, following a group discussion we thought it would be fun to have a Vintage Christmas.  You are welcome to make anything Vintage Christmas Themed that strikes your fancy.

Crafty Individuals are our Sponsors for the challenge.

For my DT piece I've made a Christmas card using a Gecko Galz image.

I covered half the card with Christmas vellum and the other half with some paper from my stash. The image was edged with fired brick distress ink and matted onto a some patterned paper, I used the same patterned paper to die cut the holly leaves [Sizzix], I covered the leaves with stickles, I also put some stickles on the image. I dyed some seam binding green [wished I'd used a different green] and added it to the card then I added the holly, red beads and sentiment.

This is another card using a Gecko Galz image.

Again I used patterned paper and card from my stash. I put some stickles on the image and added some wooden snowflakes that I embossed with glittery white embossing powder, the glittery bits don't show up very well in both photos.

If you've started to make your Christmas cards and need some inspiration why not pop over to the Craft-Room challenge to see the fabulous samples that the rest of the DT have made.

Make Your Own Background

Another fortnight has flown by and it's time for another Craft-Room Challenge
Lovely Mervi has chosen the theme Make Your Own Backgroun, she doesn't want to see any designer papers.

Our sponsor for the challenge is The Stamp Man.

For my DT piece I've made a card.

I started with one of my mono prints.

I spritzed some felt tipped spots

I used a stencil with some distress ink and stamped some script [Dina Wakley] with distress ink.

I adhered my background to a card blank and stamped the image and sentiment.
The main image [Dina Wakley] and the sentiment [The Artisic Stamper] were stamped with Versamark and embossed with black powder.
I drew some lines and dots around the edge of the card.

My very talented teamies have made some beautiful samples so why not pop over to the Craft-Room to take a look.

Summer Garden

It's time for the another Craft-Room Challenge and it's my turn to choose the theme. We've been having some lovely sunny weather here in the UK and the gardens are in full bloom, so my theme for this challenge is A SUMMER GARDEN.

The winner of the challenge will be chosen by the team and will receive goodies from Tanda Stamps and Woodware Stamps.

I've made a wall hanging with lots of summery flowers for my DT piece.

I stencilled some flowers with a PaperArtsy mask and Grunge Paste then I painted it with white gesso, I then painted it with different coloured acrylic paint. I stencilled the leaves on the background with green acrylic paint and drew round the leaves with black pencil, I also used coloured pencil on the pink flowers. I stamped and drew some small flowers but only a couple are showing. I cut some plant pots with a Sizzix die and added a lot of quilled flowers. I don't know who made the stamp that I used for the sign. I added some ladybirds, butterflies and a wooden bird that I'd painted.

The rest of my team mates have made some beautiful samples and they'd love you to visit the Craft-Room to take a look.

Inspired By A Tattoo With A Little Pen Work

Another fortnight has flown by and it's time for another Craft-Room Challenge, it's the turn of Zoe to choose the theme and she has chosen Inspired By A Tattoo With A Little Pen Work Of Your Own.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Tando Creative,

I must admit that when I saw the theme I hadn't the foggiest idea of what to do until I started to think about my uncle Bill, I was about 10 when he died, I can't remember too much about him apart from his tattoos - I was always facinated by them, he had been in the navy and most of his tattoos were of a nautical theme, so for my DT piece I've gone nautical.

I found this digi image of an anchor, I thought it looked like a tattoo. I added some pen lines to make a sea and coloured it with coloured pencils.

This is the card that I made with the image.

The background is paper from my stash, I matted the image onto some black card. I embellished the card with string, metal charm, ticket and a Tando compass.

Why not pop over to the Craft-Room to see the inspirational pieces that my teamies have made.

Craft-Room Challenge - Recycle

Time for the latest Craft-Room Challenge and this fortnight it's Esthers turn to choose the theme, she would like you all to RECYCLE something - this can be either giving an old creation a new lease of life or starting from scratch using a recycled object (or both!!).

Our sponsor this time is Ali-Craft

For my DT piece I've recycled a tin can and a tag that I made in 2011 - I'm going to use it for my paint brushes.

I covered the inside of the can with paper and the outside with a Gelli print, then I put a strip of tissue tape round the top edge of the can. I stamped some paintbrushes onto tissue paper and adhered them to the bottom edge of the can.

I carefully took the images of the tag and adhered them to can, I also added a couple of other stamped images.

The stamps that I used are
The Stamp Bug for the paint brushes.
Katzelkraft for the rest of the images.

I'd like to enter my paint brush holder in the following challenges.
Katzelkraft - Anything Goes.
Altered Eclectics - Anything Goes.
Rhedd's Creative Spirit - Anything Goes.

Craft-Room Challenge - Dance

Another fortnight has flown by and it's time for another Craft-Room Challenge, it's my turn to choose the theme and I have chosen Dance.

Tando Creative are the sponsers for the challenge.

I've made a card for my DT project.

I made the background paper on my Gelli plate, the diamond paper is from my stash. I coloured a couple of pieces of card with distress ink and stamped the dancer and sentiment, I also stamped the dancer on some patterned paper and paper pieced the dress onto the main image. I adhered some lace and dyed seam binding. I stamped the ballet shoes on to shrink plastic, after shrinking them I attached them to the bottom of the seam binding. I embellished the card with some ribbon roses and some gems.
The ballet shoes and dancer are Stamp Addicts stamps and the sentiment is an Art Declassified stamp.

Humour

Good morning and Welcome to the latest Craft-Room Challenge. It's Mervi's turn to choose the challenge and as it's April Fools Day she has chosen Humour for the challenge theme.

Our sponsor for the challenge is The Stamp Man

For my DT piece I made some fridge magnets using blank coasters - if you prefer they could be made into coasters instead of fridge magnets by giving them two to three coats of varnish at the end of decorating them.

I've used some of my Gelli backgrounds for all the magnets. I'm not sure who made the background stamps.

Stamps and sentiment are from a Murray and Ethel stamp set by Creative Expressions.

I think the stamps on this magnet are made by Designs Ink'd.

Here are the magnets on my fridge.

The rest of the DT have made some fabulous makes to make you smile and they would love you to visit them at the Craft-Room

Transport

Another fortnight has passed and it is time for a new Craft-Room Challenge. We had some wonderful 20th century entries and I don't envy Zoe having to choose her top three.

The lovely Suzanne has has chosen the latest theme but sadly she has had to step down from the team for personal reasons. We are all very sad but understand how things are for her and hope there are good things to come to her very soon. As challenges are planned in advance we are using the theme set by Suzanne.

TRANSPORT
We'd love to see any form of travel that gets us from A to B:
from bicycles to hot air balloons to ships!

Our sponsors are Crafty Individuals

It was my son's birthday yesterday, he was 26, I decided to combine his birthday and the challenge together, this is the card that I made.

I coloured a card blank and a piece of white card with faded jeans Distress ink and stamped the train [Katzelkraft stamp] on the card. I wrapped some ribbon around a piece of Tim Holtz kraft resist paper and attached it to the card with some screw brads. I wrapped a piece of wire round the image and adhered it to the card.

Craft-Room Colour Challenge

It's Ambers turn to choose the latest theme for the Craft-Room Challenge, she has chosen a colour challenge and has provided the lovely picture below with the colours that are to be used.

We are sponsored this week by the wonderful Stamp Addicts.  Click on the link to see all of the amazing stamping products they have available.

This is my DT card.

Last week I spent a lovely crafty day at my friend Alisons, we played with our Portfolio  oil pastels. I used them to colour  the background of my card together with a mask and a baby wipe. I stamped some script and then matted it onto some black card. I used felt tips to colour the Hero Arts flower stamp and then matted the image onto black card. The sentiment is a Darkroom Door stamp.
Helen Chilton has an article in January's Craft Stamper using Gelatos for the same technique.

The rest of the DT have made some beautiful samples and they would love you to visit the Craft-Room to take a look.
