Happy Valentines Day

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well and that the start of the year has been good to you.
I’m sorry that I haven’t been around for a while, I have arthritis in my hands and wrists, it flared up before Christmas and has been so painful, I couldn’t do anything and didn’t feel like doing anything and the doctor told me not to do anything. They’re now a lot better than they were and I’ve started doing bits and pieces about the house, my husband has never peeled so many potatoes in his life before.

I managed to get in my craft room yesterday to make a Valentines card, hopefully I’ll be able to do more crafting and start blogging again soon.

I stamped and embossed the hearts on the background and coloured it with distress ink, the large Dina Wakley heart was stamped on card and cut out. I added some sequins.

Thank you for visiting me to take a look, I hope to visit you all soon, have a lovely weekend. xxx

Trick or Treat Art Journal Page

Good morning everyone, today I'm very happy to be a guest designer for Try It On Tuesday, the theme for their latest challenge is Trick Or Treat/Halloween.

I've made an art journal page.

I covered a page in my Dina Wakley journal with a sheet of Gecko Galz background paper and then I  painted the edges with white paint. I printed a mixture of Gecko Galz and Mischief Circus images, cut them out and adhered them to the page, I added a little colour to some of the images with coloured pencils. The red moon's made of tissue paper. I used a Sizzix die for the crow and branch, for the cat and flying witch I used Cherry Pie Art stamps, the spider and cobweb are Inkadinkado stamps and the sentiment is a Tim Holtz stamp, I wrote Trick Or Treat on the roof. The image with the horns was just a head and shoulders so I used a silver Gelato to make him look like he had a ghostly body.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look, why not pop over to Try It On Tuesday to see the inspirational pieces that the design team have made. xxx

Sunny Landscapes

Were having a new boiler fitted today and the front door is wide open and I'm freezing, so I decided to share one of the pages that I made for the Art Journal Summer School 2018, the guest teacher was Marlene Meijer-Van Niekerk, I loved this lesson and I'm hoping that thinking of the sunny landscape will warm me up a little.

I'm entering my page into the Art Journal Journey  Creature Comforts challenge chosen by Linda, being warm to me is defiantly a creature comfort.

For the fields I adhered some patterned paper to the page, and the rest of the background was coloured with Decoart acrylic paint. I used acrylic paint and Neocolour 2 to colour the colourful striped field, this is to represent fields of tulips growing. For the houses I used Paperartsy stamps, I used a Finnabair stamp on some gold card for the circle. The sun is stencilled with a Tim Holtz stencil and acrylic paint, the flowers were stencilled with black acrylic paint. I used a Dina Wakley stamp for the trees at the bottom.

Well I haven't warmed up but Iv'e enjoyed looking at my sunny page. Thank you for dropping by to take a look, you're all very welcome. xxx

Dragonfly Journal Page

Hi everybody, I'm sharing a journal page with you today and I'm also entering it into the Art Journal Journey Recycle and Collage challenge.

I used one of the pages in my Dina Wakley joural. I started by making a collage of patterned paper, tissue wrap, music and book pages. I stencilled some modelling paste with a Crafters Workshop stencil. I added some colour with Gellatos and water letting some of the colour run. I dry brushed some Imagination Craft Starlight paint over the stencilling and added some white splatters. The  words were stamped with an Artistic Stamper stamp. For the dragonfly I printed a Gecko Galz image, adhered it to some card and cut it out. I put stickles on the wings before adhering it to the page. Lastly I used a black pen to doodle round the edge of the page.

A close up of the dragonfly - you can just about see the glitter on the wings.

Thank you for visiting my blog, have a lovely weekend. xxx Hazel.

SPA - Flourishes

Good morning, I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I managed to spend a little time in my craft room and made a postcard for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge, the theme is Flourishes.

The background is from my stash, I stamped some swirls and white circles with Fresco paint, the flower and quote were stamped with black Archival, the flower was coloured with pitt pens, I drew some swirls over the white circles.
All the stamps are Paperartsy apart from the white circles, that was a Dina Wakley stamp.

Thank you for dropping by, have a lovely day. xxx Hazel.

Art Journal Summer School 2016 - Layers

Good morning everybody, I hope you all had a good weekend.
Robin - Marie Smith was the teacher for lesson 6 at the Art Journal Summer School 2016.

We built up lots of layers using scraps of paper, watercolours, acrylic paint, stencils and marker pens.
We made a pocket on one of the pages, I met a couple of friends for lunch in Chelsea a couple of weeks ago so I put some photos of Chelsea in the pocket and did some journaling on the front of the pocket. The heart was left over from a project I'd made earlier in the year using a Dina Wakley stamp.

Heart Journal Page

Before I share today's post with you I would like to say a big hello to my new followers, lovely to have you join me.

Today I'm sharing a journal page with you, I'm linking my page to Art Journal Journey, I'm hosting the challenge this month and I've chosen the theme If Music Be The Food Of Love.

Here is my Page.

The pages in the journal that I've used are very thin so I gave the page two coats of gesso, when this was dry I coloured the page with Gelatos, spreading them with my fingers.

I used a heart stencil and a baby wipe to remove some of the colour, the word love is also a stencil.

I stamped some script on the page and stamped round the edges with a Dina Wakley heart stamp.

I splattered the page with white paint and used a white pen to put some dots round the black hearts. I stamped the two main hearts onto a book page and cut them out. The stamps I used are Elusive Images[Chocolate Baroque]. I glued the hearts to the page and added a couple of red gems.

Thank you for looking and have a lovely weekend.

Queen Of Hearts

I cheated a bit with this journal page, I've used a topper that I made for a valentines card for my husband a few years ago, I make him a card every year but I'm sure if I gave him the same one every year he wouldn't notice.

I'm linking my page to the Art Journal Journey challenge - If Music Be The Food Of Love.

The only thing that I can remember about what I used on the topper is that the image is a Crafty Individuals stamp and everything was coloured with distress ink.
I painted the background with gesso and stencilled some hearts with modelling paste. When the paste was dry I sprayed some creme de chocolat Glimmer Mist and let it run down the page, when this was dry I then sprayed some turquoise blue Glimmer Mist and let that run down the page. I stamped round the edge with a Dina Wakley swirly stamp and some white distress paint, it doesn't show up very well - you can just about see it at the bottom. The last thing I did was to add a little bit of music tissue tape.

Have a lovely day.

Mixed Media Mojo - Hearts/Paper Piecing

It's the first of the month so that means that it's time for the latest Mixed Media Mojo challenge, the theme is Hearts and the twist is paper piecing.

For my DT piece I've done a journal page.
I'm going to link it to the Art Journal Journey challenge If Music Be The Food Of Love.

I covered the page with tissue wrap and used an old credit card to scrape acrylic paint over it. I stamped some hearts [Dina wakley] with Versamark ink I also stamped some script with black Archival ink, the word love is a Dina Wakley stamp.
For the hearts I cut some strips of patterned paper and glued them to a piece of card then I die cut the hearts with the Sizzex primitive hearts die. I glued the hearts to the page and doodled some dots round them. I added some string and doodled some bows. I die cut some small hearts and wrote the letters on them, then I glued them to the page.

Thank you for looking.

AJJ Challenge - If Music Be The Food Of Love

I was so thrilled and excited when Valerie and Susi got in touch with me a few months ago asking me to host the February Art Journal Journey Challenge. As it's February I thought that the theme should something about love so in the end I decided  to use part of the first line from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night – “If Music Be The Food Of Love”, there are lots of possibilities with this theme, it doesn’t have to be about love and romance, it could just be about music or food or anything that you love. I hope that you will take part in the challenge.

Here is my page.

I started by covering the page with tissue wrap and I used a brayer to cover it with acrylic paint. I used the following stamps on the background.
Kaisercraft - music and edge.
Dina Wakley - large hearts.
PaperArtsy - dots.
Clearly Impressed - Love.
Judikins - small music notes.

The image is a Gecko Galz digi stamp that I printed and coloured in with pencils. I cut it out and glued it to the page. I was quite pleased with the page but wished I hadn't stamped the small hearts as I think it looks a bit cluttered.

Thank you for looking. This is my second post of the day - just one more to go.

I coloured the main image with Faber- Castell Pit pens. I wrote the Marion C. Garretty quote on to paper and cut it out - wish I'd cut closer to the words.

Summer ATCs

I'm sharing with you today the ATCs that I made for the KCUK August ATC swap, the theme is Summer.

I used acrylic paint and Gelatos on the background and stamped the swirls [Penny Black]. The children [Creative Expressions} were stamped onto white card and coloured with felt tips. I fussy cut them out and glued them to the ATC. The words are part of a Crafty Individuals stamp that I cut out.

The background was made with distress ink and the stamps I used are:
Stampers Anonymous - butterflies and moths.
Dina Wakley - leaves.
Craft Extensions - tiny flowers.
Unknown stamp - sun.
I used a Martha Stewart stamp and punch for the three butterflies and I put stickles on their wings.

Thank you for looking, have a lovely day.

Masculine Journal Page

Good morning all, I hope you're all having a good weekend. Mine hasn't been so good, I badly twisted my ankle on Friday and am feeling very sorry for myself, my foot is very painful, very swollen but it's changed to some amazing colours.

I'm sharing my project with
The Art Journal Journey challenge - Masculine - Feminine.
The Anything But Cute challenge - Make It Masculine.

I love this After Midnight stamp,

I started by scraping acrylic paint over the page then I did some stencilling with a fluorescent pink paint

I added some stamping to the background and did some lines with the edge of an old credit card.

I painted some white paint so that the stamped and embossed image would stand out. I edged the page using black Archival ink and then I added the Immanuel Kant quote, he was a German philosopher - born 1724 and died 1804 - "Man must be disciplined, for he is by nature raw and wild". I think the image looks a little wild.

Stamps used
After Midnight - the main image.
Dina Wakley - the border.
PaperArtsy - the white circles.
Stampers Anonymous - background.
There are some stamps on the background that I'm not sure who made them.

A Couple Of Cards

Hi everyone, I've made four cards this year and I'm sharing two with you today.

I used acrylic paint for both cards, building up layers by painting, stencilling and stamping. The main image is a Dina Wakley stamp and both sentiments are by Creative Expressions.

I'm sorry I've not done much commenting for a while, hopefully I can catch up next week.

Song Bird Journal Page

Today I'm sharing with you the journal page that I've for Art Journal Monday on the Mixed Media Mojo challenge blog.

My page is A4 size,

I started by gluing book pages, decorated paper, pink lace and tissue tape to the page, I stamped some Dina Wakley birds but they disappeared underneath all the later.paint layers.

I scraped some white acrylic paint on the page with a credit card.

I scraped some acrylic paint and stamped some numbers using a stamp from  the Stampers Anonymous Documented stamp set.

A bit more white paint.

I added a couple of die cuts and cut out some flowers and birds from patterned paper and glued them to the page, I also stamped some Dina Wakley leaves with olive Archival ink. The dies I used are from the Sizzix Thinlits scrabbles and splat set.

The last thing I did was to add colour and shading to the images with Pitt pens, I also added some doodles with a black and white pen.

I'd like to enter my piece in the following challenge
Mixed Media World - Use Bright Colours.

A Couple of ATCs

Good morning a everyone, I hope you all had lovely weekend, I went on a mixed media workshop yesterday and had a brilliant time. What I made isn't quite finished yet but as soon as it is I will put on my blog.

Today I'd like to share a couple of ATCs with you.

I used one of my mono prints for the background and stamped some script on it.
The Dina Wakley image was stamped and embossed and the Creative Expressions words were stamped and embossed. I went round the edge with some blue acrylic paint.

Again the background is a mono print that I adhered to some blue card. I stamped the Chocolate Baroque flower onto the background in white and also stamped it on to a book page in black. After colouring  the flower with acrylic paint I cut it out and adhered it to the ATC. I also stencilled some dots. I hand wrote the word onto a piece of scrap card.
