May Calendar - Magenta and Flowers

Hi everyone, I hope you're having a good weekend.

I'm cutting it a bit fine this month with my calendar for the Craft Barns May calendar challenge, the theme is Magenta and Flowers.

I started by stamping and embossing the Woodware clematis, then I made some masks to cover the flowers. I coloured the rest of the page with magenta Pan Pastel. I used a baby wipe with a stencil for the leaves then I sprayed a fixative over the page. I removed the masks and coloured the clematis with Inktense pencils and a water brush.

A Pair Of ATCs

Here are two ATCs that I made for a couple of swaps last month.

I made this one for the UK Stampers swap, the theme was Solitaire.

I stamped the image onto glossy card with Archival ink and added a gem to her ring finger, I don't know who made the stamp.

This ATC was made for the KCUK swap, the theme was anything goes but we had to put a feather on it.

I stamped and embossed some white feathers onto some previously coloured card. I stamped the bird onto white card and coloured it with watercolour. I glued the feather to the ATCs and added the bird.
I don't know who made the feather stamp, the bird is a PaperArtsy/Jofy stamp.

Under The Sea

Good morning everyone, before I share my latest project with you I would like to say hello and welcome to my latest follower Marga.

The challenge this month at Art Journey Journal is The Sea, immediately the Beatles song Octopus's Garden came into my mind.

I'd like to share my page in the following challenges.
Art Journal Journey - The Sea.
The Artistic Stamper - Journalling Your Heart Out.
Rhedd's Creative Spirit - Anything Goes.
Bumblebees and Butterflies - A Visual Journey.

I started by giving my page a coat of gesso and colouring it with gelatos. I sprinkled brushos and sprayed with water. I stamped some grassy type plants on the background and stamped the mermaid, octopus and shells onto white card and coloured them in, I fussy cut them and glued them to the page. I drew some green leafy type plants and added them. I wrote the first line of the beetles song "I'd like to be under the sea, in and octopus's garden in the shade".

I used the following stamps.
Stampotique - the mermaid and octopus.
PaperArtsy/Jofy - background.
Unknown - seahorses and shells.

Mixed Media Wednesday

Today it's my turn to share a project for Mixed Media Wednesday over at Mixed Media Mojo.

I covered a 7"x 5" canvas board with dictionary paper, when the glue was dry I stuck down pieces of very sticky masking tape and pulled it of, this removed some of the paper leaving some of the underside, that had stuck to the glue, showing, I also scraped bits of with my finger nail.

I gave the page a wash with watered down acrylic paint and put other colours on with my finger.

I stamped some crackle and flowers, then I splattered some white acrylic paint over it.

The flower and sentiment were stamped and embossed. I used the stem of the flower to go round the edge, The butterflies were stamped onto previously coloured card and cut out, I painted a glossy accents over them.

Items used:
DecoArt - acrylic paint.
Kaiserkraft - crackle stamp.
Visible Image - flower and sentiment stamp.
Innovative Stamp Creations - butterflies.
Archival Ink - black and French ultramarine.

Tic Tac Toe

The theme for this months Mixed Media Mojo Challenge is Tic Tac Toe and the twist is to use all the squares.

For my DT piece I decided to use all the squares but it wasn't until I'd finished that I realised I hadn't used any tape.

I started by stencilling some raindrops with modelling paste onto a piece of mount board. I then painted it with gesso and when this had dried I painted it with green and blue acrylic paint. I sprinkled lime green and ultra marine Brushos and sprayed a little water. I stamped some leaves [Sheena Douglas] and coloured them with Inktense pencils and a water brush, then I painted some Glossy Accents onto the raindrops.

A few years ago I had a go at doing the Caught In Crystal technique with acetate and alcohol inks, I still have some pieces left so decided to use it for some flowers. You can just about see the glitter that I had added.

Here is a close up of the die cut flowers.

I wrote the quote and used chipboard letters for the word May. I made a couple of holes and used ribbon for the hanger. I'd stamped some extra leaves, coloured them in and cut them out, I added them to the flowers.

Why not visit the Mixed Media Mojo blog to see the wonderful creations that the rest of the talented DT have made.

I'd like to link my project to the following challenges.

Altered Eclectics - May DT Post

It's the first of May so it's time for Altered Eclectics new challenge, as always the theme is Anything Goes as long as it's mixed media/altered art, cards and ATCs are not allowed.

My DT piece this month is a set of three canvases that I started at a workshop earlier in the year but didn't get finished, so I've finished them at home and here they are.

I started by glueing tissue wrap, book pages and tissue tape to the canvases and then used grunge paste with a stencil. We cut some hearts out of corrugated card, and used wooden butterflies and hearts, the clock is a Sizzix die. Everything was painted with acrylic paint and we used black antiquing cream on the grunge paste. The last thing I used was Treasure Gold.

Why not pop over to Altered Eclectics to check out the fabulous projects that the rest of my team mates have made.
