SPA - Hats

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a good weekend.

Hats or Headpieces is this weeks theme for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge.

I used alcohol ink on the background, for the white skull I used a stencil and some alcohol blending solution. The web, spider and words were stamped directly on the card. I coloured some white card with brimstone wings Color Bloom spray and stamped the skulls, I cut them out and glued them to the card. I stamped the hat and bow tie and embossed them with a purple glitter embossing powder, you can't see the glitter on the photo.

Stamps
Stamp Addicts - skulls, hat and bow tie.
Inkadinkado - spider and web.
Graphic 45 - words.

Thank you for taking a look, have a lovely day. xxx Hazel.

Good morning everyone, I've two posts scheduled for today, this is the first one.

Today I'm guest host for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge, my theme is Wonderland.

The background for my card was made using alcohol inks on glossy card.
The Alice and rabbit images are by Carabelle Studio and I stamped them onto white card, coloured them with pencils, cut them out and glued them to the card.
The Cheshire Cat is a Cherry Pie Art Stamp, he was stamped directly onto the card.
The heart, diamond, spade and club are Non Sequitor stamps and were stamped directly onto the card.
I stamped the quote [Carabelle Studio stamp] and Wonderland [Indigo Blu stamp] onto tissue paper and use a white marker on the back of the words to make them stand out more.

Thank you for dropping by, have a lovely Sunday. xxx Hazel.

SPA - The Beatles

The Beatles is the new challenge theme at Sunday Postcard Art and it's being hosted by Marion.

I printed the image of the internet, cut it out and glued it to some card that I'd coloured with alcohol inks ages ago. I wrote some of the Beatles song titles on the card.

H Is For Harlequin

H is the latest letter in the Craft Barns Alpha/Dictionary challenge and I've chosen the word Harlequin.

For the background of my postcard I used card that I'd coloured with alcohol inks a few months ago. I stamped the harlequin onto the postcard and onto some white card, I coloured it in with felt tips, cut it out and glued it to the image on the postcard. I edged the card with some tissue tape and stamped the H and added the word definition.
The harlequin is a Judikins stamp.

Thank you for dropping by, have a lovely weekend.

Altered Fridge Magnet

The theme for the latest Mixed Media Mojo challenge is to recycle with a twist of using metal.

I'd like to enter my magnet in the That's Crafty challenge - All Things Bright And Beautiful.

For my DT piece I've altered a postcard size fridge magnet that a local estate agents put through our door.

I also used three metal butterflies of this necklace that I found in a charity shop.

I covered the magnet with copy paper and painted it with gesso and acrllic paint.

I then glued some butterflies taken from a paper napkin and added more acrylic paint and some stencilling.

I stamped the Paper Inspirations image onto white copy paper, coloured it with pencils and glued it to the magnet. I splattered some black and white paint. I used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch and stamp for the small butterflies.

I cut three butterflies from the necklace and left the chain on. I coloured them with alcohol ink, bent the wings up and glued them to the magnet. I added the words.

I hope you can join in with the challenge, why not take a trip to Mixed Media Mojo to see the fabulous samples that the rest of the DT have made.

Thank you for looking.

Autumn Colours

Last week I had a play with my alcohol inks on vellum and have made a journal page out of one of my samples.

The theme this month at Art Journal Journey is Autumn Colours.

I started with a piece of vellum that had green leaves printed on it, I dripped the alcohol inks and spread the ink by blowing through a straw, when I was happy with the result I stamped some leaves [La Blanche stamp] with black archival ink.

The words are printed on vellum and I've had them in my stash for years, I attached them to white paper with some brads and then attached them to my page with double sided tape. I drew the pumpkin, coloured it with coloured pencils and cut it out, I glued it to the page together with some punched out leaves.

Thank you for looking.

Playing With Alcohol Inks

I've not played with my alcohol inks for at least two years so I decided to blow the dust of my bottles and play with them. I've spent some time this week watching Alcohol Ink videos on You Tube to see if there's a different technique than using felt to apply the ink. I found a few videos where canned air was used to blow the ink around the card before the ink dried, I haven't got any canned air so I used my Tim Holtz spritzer. I must say I was pleased with the results.

The first two show my attempts at doing poppies - need more practice, I put a few scribbles on with a fine tip pen. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do with the rest of them apart from the pink one.

Tic Tac Toe

The theme for this months Mixed Media Mojo Challenge is Tic Tac Toe and the twist is to use all the squares.

For my DT piece I decided to use all the squares but it wasn't until I'd finished that I realised I hadn't used any tape.

I started by stencilling some raindrops with modelling paste onto a piece of mount board. I then painted it with gesso and when this had dried I painted it with green and blue acrylic paint. I sprinkled lime green and ultra marine Brushos and sprayed a little water. I stamped some leaves [Sheena Douglas] and coloured them with Inktense pencils and a water brush, then I painted some Glossy Accents onto the raindrops.

A few years ago I had a go at doing the Caught In Crystal technique with acetate and alcohol inks, I still have some pieces left so decided to use it for some flowers. You can just about see the glitter that I had added.

Here is a close up of the die cut flowers.

I wrote the quote and used chipboard letters for the word May. I made a couple of holes and used ribbon for the hanger. I'd stamped some extra leaves, coloured them in and cut them out, I added them to the flowers.

Why not visit the Mixed Media Mojo blog to see the wonderful creations that the rest of the talented DT have made.

I'd like to link my project to the following challenges.

Alpha Challenge - A

The letter A is the latest letter in the Craft Barns Alpha Challenge.
The word I have chosen is ARTIST.

I used DecoArt Americana paint for the background with some Distress stain blotches. I used a PaperArtsy stamp for the script. I used a Flonzcraft stamp for the artist - he was stamped onto white card and coloured with Promarkers, cut out and adhered to the page. The flower image is a Gecko Galz image from the Monet collage sheet. I used a Sizzix/Alterations die for the word artist and the letter A, they were cut from some card that had been coloured with Alcohol inks.

Here is a close up of the dictionary page.

Things That Move

LESS IS MORE are looking for Things That Move for their challenge this week. I decided to use this lovely Stampsmith ballerina.
A few weeks ago I coloured some acetate with Alcohol inks and used a piece of it on my card, I'm not very good at stamping on acetate so I like to lay it over stamped images and secure with brads, that is what I've done with this card. The sentiment is a stamp by Art Declassified.

Butterfly Card and Poppy Tag

Here are two projects that I've made for the GECKO GALZ Design Team using the Card Toppers Ephemera Sheet.
I have some acetate that has gold butterflies embossed on it so I coloured the back of some with alcohol ink and then attached it to a white card blank with some gold brads. I wrapped gold thread round the topper then matted it onto black card and then gold card. The butterfly is cut from another topper. I attached some black stamens and some gold beads on the body.
I started of by cutting the tag out of some patterned card then I stamped the poppy silhouette onto card and attached it to the tag. With a punch I cut some notches out of the corners of the topper then wrapped some gold thread around it. I then matted it onto some black card and attached it to the tag. I made the flower out of tissue paper and attached it to the tag with a brad. The last things that I did was to add some black sticky backed gems and some ribbon.
The stamps that I used are by Elusive Images.

Let's Face It

I've made this tag for the Dragons Dream Tag It On challenge, the theme this week is Lets Face It. I made the tag from some card that has fairies on it and I coloured the edges with forest moss distress ink then I stamped some leafy bits on it in dusty concord. I stamped the main image and sentiment onto some card that I'd coloured with alcohol inks then I matted the images onto some black card before attaching them to the tag.
The stamps that I used are:
Paper Inspirations, the face image.
Stampotique, the sentiment.
Tattered Angels, the background
