Mixed Media Postcard

At the beginning of the year I took part in a Mixed Media swap in the KCUK group, I made a postcard and never got round to blogging it as it's very similar to a canvas that I'd made sometime last year.

I started by colouring the background with Gelatos.

Then I added some cotton and painted it with gesso.

I stencilled some flowers with modelling paste and some shapes with crackle paste.

I added some colour with Gelatos and sprayed with water.

I kept adding colour with gelatos and water.

I stamped some black script and splattered some white paint..

I stamped the butterflies and cut them out after I coloured them, The small butterflies are a Martha Stewart stamp and punch and the large butterfly is a Stampendous stamp and die. The quote is an Artistic Stamper stamp.

Below are some close ups of parts of the postcard.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look, have a lovely day.

Altered Fridge Magnet

The theme for the latest Mixed Media Mojo challenge is to recycle with a twist of using metal.

I'd like to enter my magnet in the That's Crafty challenge - All Things Bright And Beautiful.

For my DT piece I've altered a postcard size fridge magnet that a local estate agents put through our door.

I also used three metal butterflies of this necklace that I found in a charity shop.

I covered the magnet with copy paper and painted it with gesso and acrllic paint.

I then glued some butterflies taken from a paper napkin and added more acrylic paint and some stencilling.

I stamped the Paper Inspirations image onto white copy paper, coloured it with pencils and glued it to the magnet. I splattered some black and white paint. I used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch and stamp for the small butterflies.

I cut three butterflies from the necklace and left the chain on. I coloured them with alcohol ink, bent the wings up and glued them to the magnet. I added the words.

I hope you can join in with the challenge, why not take a trip to Mixed Media Mojo to see the fabulous samples that the rest of the DT have made.

Thank you for looking.

Craft Barn Calendar Challenge - January

I've decided to join in with the Craft Barns Calendar Challenge, for January the theme is Aqua and Snowflakes.

I used a baby wipe to colour the background with peacock feathers distress ink. The trees [Artemeo stamp] were stamped with evergreen bough distress ink. I glued bits of a lacy handmade paper at the bottom. For the snowflakes I used a mixture of Tattered Lace dies and a Martha Stuart punch. I put stickles on the snowflakes and handmade paper but the photo doesn't show it very well.
I shall probably matt the pages onto card but I'm not sure how I'm going to bind them yet.

Bah Humbug

I was thrilled to bits when I got an email from Chris at Country View Crafts Challenges telling me that I'd made the top three in the October challenge and was even more thrilled when I was asked to be a Guest Designer for December.

When I found that the theme for the December challenge is Bah Humbug it took me back to my teacher at junior school sitting the class down and reading A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens to us - it became one of my favourite books.

I decided that my project should have something to do with Scrooge on it - I searched the Internet and found an image of Scrooge being visited by the Ghost of Christmas Present [my favourite ghost] and have used it on my Christmas canvas.

Supplies

Canvas.
Red paint.
Martha Stewart snowflake punch.
Corrugated card.
Shabby white Frantage embossing enamel.
Christmas papers.
Scrooge image of the Internet.
Gecko Galz snowmen and music images.
The Artistic Stamper Santa stamp.
Distress Inks.
Sizzix tattered pine cones die.
Sizzix holly branch die.
Spellbinders die.
Wooden snowflakes.
Ice Stickles.
Ribbon, lace and beads.

I adhered some strips of punched snowflakes to the sides of the canvas and then painted the canvas red, I wiped some of the paint of the snowflakes before the paint dried.
I coloured the back of some patterned paper with distress ink so that when I distressed the edges the white background wouldn't show.
I edged a square of corrugated card with some Frantage embossing enamel, adhered  the distressed papers and added the ribbon and lace, then I adhered it to the canvas.
The Santa image was stamped and coloured with distress ink, I die cut the Santa image and snowmen images and edged them with distress ink then adhered them to the canvas.
I made the pine cones and adhered them to the canvas with the holly and beads.
I painted some wooden snowflakes white and added some stickles. I used a lot of stickles on the canvas so it's very glittery - the photo doesn't show it very well.

Here is a side view of the canvas.

Songbird

This is a card that I've made using Gecko Galz lovely July products.

Image from the Let Them Eat Cake Digi Stamp Set.
Two Background Papers From The By The Shore Paper Set.
Martha Stewart Bird Punch.
Black Card.
T J Designs Song Bird Stamp Set.
Stormy Sky Distress Ink.
Square Card Blank.
Black Archival Ink Pad.

Cover the card blank with one of the background papers and tear the other paper and adhere to the card.
Stamp the images then punch the line of birds from the black card and adhere to the card.
Print the image twice and cut out the bird from one of them.
Colour the main image with the distress ink, splash with water and when almost dry colour again with the distress ink, this gives it the darker patches.
Adhere the cut out bird to the image.

Stamp the sentiment onto a scrap of paper and adhere to the card.

Christmas Cards

I made some Christmas cards last week using the Gecko Galz October products.

For this card I used GG Tis the Season background paper and an image from the GG Wintertime collage sheet. I matted the background paper and image onto gold and red card and adhered them to a red card blank. I added some ribbon and a gold snowflake border that I'd made with a Martha Stewart punch.

The image I used is from the GG Vintage Christmas digi set. I cut the image out with a Spellbinders circle die then I layered this onto black and white card. I embellished the card with ribbon, snowflakes, black gems and a merry Christmas peel off.

I used GG Silent Night background paper and the image is from the GG Old Fashioned Christmas collage sheet and I also used a tag from the Christmas Tags sheet. I used Spellbinders scalloped circle dies to cut out the image and gold and red card. I also used holly leaves, red gems, ribbon and gold border peel off.

I'm entering my card into the Out of a Hat Creations Christmas Card/Tag challenge.

A Couple of Christmas Cards

Here are a couple of Christmas cards that I've made for GECKO GALZ.

The image that I've used is from the Winter Wonderland collage sheet.
I started by edging a  white card blank with some blue ink and then I adhered some paper from my stash and I covered this with some angel hair. I matted the image on to some white card and coloured the edge with blue ink then attached it to the card. I cut some snowflakes out of some glitter card using a Martha Stewart punch and attached them to the card then I added the greetings and some ribbon.

For this card I used an image from the Angels collage sheet and Unchainedmelody background paper.
I adhered the background paper to a card blank and edged it and the image with some gold foil. I adhered a couple of cupcake cases to the card and attached the image after matting it onto some red card. I then attached the greetings and a piece of gold mesh.
