UK Stampers January Postcard Swap

Good morning everyone. In January I decided to join in with the UK Stampers postcard swap, the theme was anything goes.

For the background I used a baby wipe to spread the Fresco Finish paint. I stamped the images onto the postcard and also onto a lightly patterned paper, The images were cut out and glued over the images on the postcard. I stamped the words and then gave the card a coat of matte medium. When the medium had dried I coloured the images with Faber-Castell Pitt pens. As the postcard had to go in the post I gave it another coat of matte medium for extra protection..

I used a Paperartsy/Jofy stamp for the background grass, for all the other images I used Paperartsy/Elena Guzinska stamps.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look, have a lovely day - the sun is shining at the moment but I'm sure it won't last.

Altered Greeting Card Book

It's April 1st already and time for a new Altered Eclectics challenge, as always the theme is Anything Goes as long as it's altered/mixed media, no cards allowed.

For my DT piece I've altered a Greeting Card Book.

These cute pups were on the front of the book.

The book has pockets on the inside to store greeting cards.

Inside the book were these adorable cards.

I covered the covers with paper, then I painted them with gesso and acrylic paint.

I stamped and stencilled the covers.

I stamped the PaperArtsy poppies on to paper and cut them out, I glued them to the covers and painted them with matt medium. I coloured the poppies with Faber-Castell Pitt Pens and blended them with my finger. I doodled round the edges with a black pen. I haven't done the inside of the book yet but I shall cover parts with paper and do some stamping.

I hope you will be able to join in with the challenge, my teamies have made some wonderful samples and they would love you all to take a look.

Thank you for looking, have a lovely day.

Love Is Like A Butterfly

I've made another journal page for the Art Journal Journey challenge, the theme is If The Music Be The Food Of Love.

The quote says "Love is like a butterfly, it goes where it pleases and it pleases wherever it goes".

I started by covering the pages with a pretty butterfly paper napkin,

I then added some pink and mauve acrylic paint with my finger.

I then glued a butterfly and some music that I'd cut out of tissue wrap and then I gave the pages a thin coat of gesso.

I stamped some circles, letters and dots with Versamagic chalk inks, the stamps that I used are Indigo Blu and PaperArtsy. I used a Stampendous die and stamp to die cut and stamp the butterflies out of patterned paper, I glued them to the page, I did the words on the computer. I gave the whole page a coat of Multi Matte Medium.

When the matte medium had dried I gave the butterflies and words a bit more colour and shading using Faber-Castell Pitt pens. I also added a bit of colour to the edges.

Thank you for looking.

Low Flying Skulls Journal Page

I've done a journal page for my October Mixed Media Mojo DT piece. The theme for the latest challenge is Halloween/Wings.

I painted the background with acrylic paint and stencilled a skull and letters with modelling paste.

I then dribbled some Dylusion ink down the page.

I stamped the pumpkins[Hero Arts], bottles[Creative Expressions] and wings[Hampton Arts] onto card and coloured them with acrylic paint. I covered the small wooden skulls with DecoArt Media Crackle Paste. When the paste had dried I glued the wings to the back of the skulls and glued all the stamped images to the page. I gave the page a coat of Multi Matte Medium, when this dried I added more colour to the images with some Faber-Castell Pitt pens. I used a white Posca Pen to whiten the larger skull.

I hope you can find time to visit and enter the challenge, my team mates have made some fabulous samples and they would love you to take a look.

Have a lovely day.

Mixed Media Mojo - Art Journal Monday

Good morning all. I hope you all had a good weekend, I went to Alexandra Palace on Saturday, didn't spend to much but it was lovely meeting up with blogging friends.

Today it's my turn to post for Mixed Media Mojo - Art Journal Monday. This page was inspired by Jenni Niemi, I've been watching her videos on You Tube.

I started by spreading acrylic paint over the page.

I did some stencilling and stamping over the page.

Then I drew the face and stamped some flowers.

I painted round the face and flowers leaving the background showing, then I painted the face.

I coloured round the face with Faber-Castell Pitt pens and did some doodling round the flowers and on her hair. I stamped some small flowers and script on the background, I also added some shading to the face.

I must admit that I'm pleased with the result as it's the first face I've done. I hope you like it.

I'd like to share my face with Kim Dellow's - Show Your Face.

Thank you for looking.

Mixed Media Canvas Board

I can't believe it's September already and time for another challenge at Altered Eclectics, as always the theme is Anything Goes but it must be Mixed Media/Altered Art - no cards are allowed.

For my DT piece I've made a mixed media piece on a canvas board.

I started by covering a 8" x 8" canvas board with bits of patterned paper and giving it a light coat of gesso.

Then I added some coloured acrylic paint.

I then used some texture paste with a stencil and painted some gesso over it.

The canvas board was then coloured with Gelatos.

I stamped the leafy branch onto the board and stencilled some tiny pink circles, I also stamped some postmarks. I stamped the leafy branch, flowers and bird onto some of my Gelli prints and cut them out, I adhered them to the board, I also added some Remnent Rubs and the quote. I gave it a coating of Multi Matte Medium.

I finally added more colour to the leaves, flowers and bird with Faber-Castell Pitt pens.

The stamps I used are;
Sheena Douglas - the leafy branch, flowers and bird.
Hobby Arts - the quote.
Postmark - unknown

Thank you for looking at my work, I hope you can take time to look at the lovely inspirational pieces that the rest of the Altered Eclectics DT have made.

Butterfly Journal Page

Last week my friend Alison came to play, we had a great day playing with our Gelli Plates and we both ended up with loads of lovely prints.

I've used one of them on my journal page.

My print wasn't big enough to cover the pages so I painted the edge of the pages with Acrylic paint, tore round the print and glued it to the pages. I used Kaisercraft, Inkadinkado and Stampendous stamps on the background and I used Versamagic chalk ink. The butterflies [Stampendous stamp and cutting dies] were stamped onto cream card, cut out and glued to the pages with Mod Podge, I also spread the Mod Podge over the butterflies so that I could colour them with Faber Castell Pitt artist pens. Spreading the glue over the images and letting it dry meant that I could colour with the pens and spread the ink with my finger before it dried. I uesd an Artistic Stamper stamp for the quote.

I'm sharing my pages with Art Journal Journey their theme this month is Time.

Thank you for looking.

The dragonflies were stencilled with gesso, when this was dry I coloured them with Inktense pencils and a water brush.

The Documented Life - Week 6

Still trying to play catch up with the DLP. The theme for February is Layers You Will Love. For week 6 we had to use as many layers as possible.

I'd like to share my pages with Bumblebees and Butterflies - A Visual Journey 12

Here are my finished pages, I tried to count the layers as I went along but lost count.

I thought I'd have a go at doing a collage.

This was my first layer, I glued patterned paper the the pages.

I scraped white paint over the pages and added my calendar.

I coloured the pages with acrylic paint and gelatos.

I stencilled the rays and hearts with gesso and coloured them with brushos. I lost count of the layers at this stage. The houses were drawn onto patterned paper, cut out and glued to the pages. I found a piece of paper that had small squares over it and some of the squares had people and animals looking out of them so I used these for the windows. I stencilled some trees with felt tips.

I used Faber-Castell pitt pens to colour and add shading to the houses I also used a white sharpie to take out some of the colour of the hearts and add a fence at the bottom. I added a cut out tree and some rub ons.
