Altered Wooden Clock

Good morning everyone, it’s March 1st already and time for the latest  Altered Eclectics challenge, as always the theme is anything goes as long as it’s altered art/mixed media, paper crafts aren’t allowed.
I've altered a wooden clock for my DT project.

I found this wooden clock in a local charity shop.

I gave the clock a coat of gesso then a coat of Decoart paynes grey acrylic paint, I then gave it a coat of Weathered Wood crackle medium and a coat of Decoart spa blue acrylic paint, I waited for the cracks to appear, I wasn't happy with the crackle, I must have put the crackle medium on too thick as the cracks are quite wide.

I covered the clock with a napkin that has blue roses on it.

I sprayed some cofffee shop Glimmer mist at the bottom of the clock and added some washi tape.

To decorate the clock I used my finger to spread some Imagination Craft moonlight black wax over some silver metal flowers and a paper flower that had been sprayed with moonlight Glimmer Mist. I also used my finger to spread a little treasure pewter on the edges of the clock.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look, have a lovely day. xxx

Altered Box

Good morning everyone, I hope you are having a lovely weekend. It's the first of the month and time for a new challenge at Altered Eclectics, as always the theme is Anything Goes as long as it's Altered Art/Mixed Media, no cards please.

For my DT piece I've decorated a round box.

I'm entering my box into the Try It On Tuesday challenge - Vintage Photo.

This is the box I used.

I painted it with white gesso and added some lace round the side. I also added lace to the side of the lid.

I coloured the box with gelatos and added some tissue wrap and cut out butterflies.

I stencilled some modelling paste to the lid and dry brushed it with white paint, I also dry brushed some pink flowers.

The next thing I did was to spray everything with Glimmer Mist.

This is a close up to show the glimmer.

I glued the flowers, twisted wire, a photo booth image of a couple, a piece of frayed material, charm and some micro baeds to the top. I also added flowers, micro beads and wire to the sides.

A close up of the flowers.

The finished box.

Please take a trip to Altered Eclectics to see the lovely inspirational pieces that my talented teamies have made.

Thank you for visiting.
xxx Hazel.

Queen Of Hearts

I cheated a bit with this journal page, I've used a topper that I made for a valentines card for my husband a few years ago, I make him a card every year but I'm sure if I gave him the same one every year he wouldn't notice.

I'm linking my page to the Art Journal Journey challenge - If Music Be The Food Of Love.

The only thing that I can remember about what I used on the topper is that the image is a Crafty Individuals stamp and everything was coloured with distress ink.
I painted the background with gesso and stencilled some hearts with modelling paste. When the paste was dry I sprayed some creme de chocolat Glimmer Mist and let it run down the page, when this was dry I then sprayed some turquoise blue Glimmer Mist and let that run down the page. I stamped round the edge with a Dina Wakley swirly stamp and some white distress paint, it doesn't show up very well - you can just about see it at the bottom. The last thing I did was to add a little bit of music tissue tape.

Have a lovely day.

A couple of ATCs

Good morning, today I'm sharing with you a couple of ATCs that I made earlier in the year.

I stamped the Ecogreen stamp onto some card and edged it with pink, I adhered the stamped image onto some black card that had been sprayed with gold Glimmer Mist and added ribbon.

I stamped the Crafty Individuals stamp onto card that I'd coloured with acrylic paint. I painted a wooden bird with acrylic paint and added stickles, I also edged the ATC with stickles.

Thank you for looking and have a good day.

Craft-Room Challenge - Picture Inspiration

Another fortnight has flown by and it's time for another craft-Room Challenge. This is the last challenge of the year and sadly it will be the last ever Craft-Room Challenge. It's been a difficult and busy year for some of the DT  and other members are moving to new pastures so we've decided to call it a day. Debi is the hostess of this last challenge and she has a lovely picture for us all to be inspired by.

Our sponsor for the challenge is The MDF Man

Inspiration Picture

For my DT piece I've decorated a frame and taken my inspiration from the roses, colour blue, snow and frost.

I gave the frame a couple of coats of gesso and then painted it blue, when the paint dried I dry brushed a paler blue over the top. I stencilled some snowflakes with modelling paste, when the paste dried I sprayed the frame with Glimmer Mist and melted some white Frantage embossing enamel. I printed the image and painted the edges with blue paint then I put it in the frame. I die cut the leaves and ivy and covered them with Stickles. I've had some red roses in my stash for a long time and I covered them with frosted lace Stickles. Then I glued them to the frame and added some silver cord.

A close up of the frame.

A close up of the flowers.

The rest of DT have been inspired by the picture and have made some gorgeous samples so why not visit the Craft-Room and take a look.

Vintage Tags

Good morning, I hope you're having a good weekend and have better weather than we have here, it's pouring down.
I'd like to share with you two Vintage tags.

Both tags were made the same way,
I use a couple of my mono prints for the tags and glued lace, die cuts, flowers, metal charms etc to them. I painted everything with acrylic paint and added the Gecko Galz images. I masked the images and sprayed the tags with Glimmer Mist.

Faces ATCs

Before I share the ATCs I'd like to thank you for your good wishes for Josh. He's still tender round his injuries but is a lot better in himself.

I made the ATCs for the Paperplay July ATC swap - the theme was Faces.

For this ATC I sprayed some kraft card with dylusions spray and then used a mask and some modelling paste, when the paste had dried I went over it with some gold acrylic paint. The image was stamped on some card that I'd coloured a while ago, I wrapped some gold thread round it before adhering it to the background. The word was done on my Dymo.
I used a Rubber Stampede stamp for the image.

I stamped the face onto white card then made a mask to mask the face. I stamped the background and sponged some distress ink, I then cut the hair from the mask and added some more colour to the background. I removed the mask and made another to cover the ATC leaving the face showing and stamped the spots. After removing the masks I embossed some cosmic shimmer powder round the edge. I used my Dymo for the word and attached it with some staples.
The stamps I used are
Stampers Anonymous for the face image and the spots.
PaperArtsy for the background.

I coloured some card with Glimmer Mist, stamped some script, wrapped some gold thread round it and then matted it onto some black card. I stamped and embossed the image and adhered it to the background and added some gems.
The stamps I used are PaperArtsy.

Altered Notebook

This altered this notebook will be used as a stocking filler at Christmas.

I covered the notebook in a yellow background paper and sprayed it with Glimmer Mist, then I adhered black and white card and added the ribbon. The image and quote were stamped a very long time ago and sorry I cant remember who made the stamps. They were stamped onto card that I'd sprayed with Glimmer Mist. I matted them onto white card. I embellished the notebook with white flowers with a black gem in the centre.
I'm entering the notebook in the Out of a Hat Creations challenge, I should just about make it in time. The challenge is to make a Christmas Gift or Stocking Filler.

A Tag For Autumn

I'd like to share the tag that I've made for the KCUK October tag swap, the theme is Autumn/Fall colours.

I sprayed the tag with Glimmer Mist and stamped it with the oak leaf image from the Stampers Anonymous mini blueprint stamp set. I also stamped extra images to cut out the leaves.
I stamped the tree [Crafty Individuals] onto white card and coloured it with distress ink, then I adhered it to the tag together with the cut out leaves and embellished it with charms and sari ribbon.

I'm entering the tag in the following challenges.

UK Stampers ATC Swap

The UK Stampers September ATC swap was to use stamps that we haven't used before, I don't know about you guys but I have rather a lot to choose from but I managed to sort out three and the results are below.

I sprayed the background with Glimmer Mist and stamped some swirls with an Ecogreen stamp then I adhered a piece of patterned hand made paper to it. I stamped the PaperArtsy stamp onto white card and edged it with worn lipstick Distress ink, I also used it round the edge of the ATC. The eye and cheek were coloured with coloured pencil. I embellished the ATC with a sun charm.

The PaperArtsy stamp was stamped onto white card using Black Archival ink. I used blue card for the ATC and embossed the edges with shabby pink Frantage embossing enamel. I adhered the image and words and added a silver charm.

I coloured the ATC with Distress Stain and stamped the PaperArtsy stamp with black Archival ink. I'd stamped the image twice and cut the butterfly out of the 2 image and covered it with stickles, when it was dry I adhered it to the ATC with some black gems. The image was matted onto black card.

Chunky Alphabet Book J K and L

Feeling fed up as I was supposed to be having a crafting day with friends but I don't feel too good so I've decided to catch up with some blogging.

J is for jigsaw.
I coloured the card with broken china and stormy sky distress inks. For the images I used vintage photo. I did the jigsaw piece the same way but triple embossed it afterwards. The main image is by Crafty Individuals, I'm not sure who makes the jigsaw stamp. I went round the edges of the stamped jigsaws with a quickie glue pen and some foil. I added an alphabet brad and some words cut out of an old dictionary.
K is for kimono.
I coloured the background with broken china distress ink and edged it with stormy sky. The bamboo is stamped with stormy sky distress ink. I matted the oriental paper on to black card and attached it to the main card. I stamped the kimono on to some gold metal with black Stazon and embossed a pattern onto it and then added a little bit of colour with some green and blue Stazon. The letter K was stamped onto gold metal with black Stazon and I went round the edge with an embossing wheel.
L is for laughter.
There's not a lot to say about this one. The background I made sometime ago using Glimmer Mist. Again I'm not sure who made the stamp but I stamped it onto some tissue paper. I added some daisy ribbon, an alphabet brad and the word laughter.

Corset

I really enjoyed making this for Lynne, it was for a corset mingle on KCUK. I stamped some pink roses on to some cream card and then embossed it with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. I coloured some white lace with pink Glimmer Mist and used it to edge the corset, then I added some pearl beads and some roses. The rose stamp is by Clarity Stamps.

Another Card

Here is another card using the same image as the last post. The background paper is by Basic Grey and I embellished the card with some gold thread and some green jewels.

Birthday Card

Here is a card that I made a earlier in the month. I've no idea what make the stamps are that I used. The image is stamped on to card that has been coloured with glimmer mist and the background paper was stamped with worn lipstick Distress Ink.

18th Birthday Card

Last week my friends daughter was 18 and this is the card I made for her. All the stamps used are by Stampotique and all the colouring was done with Glimmer Mist. I matted the stamped image on to Black Magic Card and sanded it so that the colour underneath came through.
