Try It On Tuesday - Guest Designer

I was thrilled to find that a tag I'd made had been chosen as one of the top 5 in the Try It On Tuesday Book Pages challenge and I was even more thrilled when I was asked to be a guest designer.

I have made a couple of postcards for my GD spot - the theme of the challenge is Sun/Moon/Stars.

For my sun postcard I used modelling paste with a Memory Box stencil, then I gave it a coat of gesso. To colour the background I used acrylic ink sprayed with water.

I kept adding more ink and water until I got the colours that I liked.

I stamped the PaperArtsy flower onto some white card twice, I coloured the flowers with the inks and cut them out, I glued one of the flowers to the card and then I cut the outer petals of the second flower and glued it over the first flower.

My moon and stars postcard was made the same way as the sun card.

I used a Crafters Workshop stencil with the modelling paste and used acrylic ink to colour it. I dry brushed some white acrylic paint over the top of the stars and then I added some stickles to the stars. The Clarity stamp moon was stamped onto white card, coloured with watercolours, cut out and attached to the card with thick double sided tape. I wrote the W. Clement Stone quote and added it to the card.

Please take a look at the challenge to see the fabulous samples that the very talented design team have made and I hope you can enter the challenge as well.

Tim's July Tag

Here is the tag that I've made for the July Tim Holtz Twelve Tags of 2014 - you can see Tim's tag here. I didn't have all the supplies but managed to keep it as close to Tim's tag with the things that I had.

This is the finnished tag.

This is the background'

I didn't have the dies that Tim used so I stamped the seahorse and drew the sand dollar and starfish then cut them out.

I used most of the things that Tim used but not the same colours, the things that are different from Tim's are
Seahorse and sand dollar.
Cuttlebug embossing folder.
Memory Box lorelai leaf die.
Metal charm.
Pee Wee glitter in the sand.
Ribbon.

Altered Notebook

Here is a little notebook that I altered for the Gecko Galz DT using the February products.

Gecko Galz Image from the Children's Hour Collage Sheets.
Two Background Papers from the Pocket Full Of Posies Paper Set.
Pink Card.
Notebook.
Memory Box Die.
Coloured Card.
Ribbon, Lace, Bird Charm.
Yellow Promarker.
Stormy Sky Distress Ink.
Adhesives of Choice.

Print one of the background papers large enough to cover the notebook. After the notebook is covered ink the edges with the stormy sky distress ink.
Cut the second background paper, pink card and image to size and distress the edges then matt them together adding the ribbon. Adhere to the notebook.
Embellish with the die cuts, lace, ribbon and charm. I used the yellow Promarker to colour the centre of the lace flowers.

Craft-Room Challenge/Alter It

Another fortnight has passed and it's time for another Craft-Room challenge. The lovely Julia has chosen the theme Alter It, she would like you to alter anything. For my DT piece I have altered a Plywood Frame.

For the lucky prize draw winner there is a £10 prize from our sponsors  Stamp Addicts.

Earlier in the year I went to a Helen Chilton workshop where we used Pebeo Prisme Fantasy Paint, I love the effect that the paint has so I decided to use it to cover the front of a plywood frame. I painted the frame first with black gesso before covering it with the Pebeo paint.
For the embellishments I covered some card with sticky backed aluminium and die cut the flowers using the Sizzix/Alterations tattered flower garland die, I also used the Memory Box delicate vine die. I put some little gems in the centre of the flowers.

Thank you all that took part in our Childhood Memories challenge, we had some fabulous entries. The rest of the DT have made some wonderful altered pieces so why not visit the Craft-Room to take a look.

Childhood Memories

Another fortnight has flown by and it's time for another Craft-Room Challenge. The latest theme has been chosen by Maria and she has chosen Childhood Memories.
For my project I decided to make a layout using a photo of me and my sister Pamela, that's me on the left. Sadly Pam died very suddenly about 12 years ago aged 50, looking through my childhood photo's deciding which one to use brought back lots of lovely memories.

Our sponsor for the challenge is Tando Creative.

My layout is 8"x8" and I used a dark pink card and Basic Grey papers. The stamps that I used are by Crafty Individuals and Paper Bag Studio. The dies that I used are Memory Box dies and the letters have been made with  the Sizzix/Alterations Chip Block die. I've also used a piece of ribbed kraft card and dry brushed it with white acrylic paint. I added lots of embellishments that I found in my stash.

I'm looking forward to seeing your Childhood Memory creations. The rest of the DT have made some lovely pieces for the challenge, you can see these on the Craft-Room Challenge Blog.
