Less Is More - Newsprint

Was just finishing this card yesterday when the two RAF jets flew through the sound barrier intercepting the Latvian cargo plane - it was very loud and a good job I'd finished with the scissors.

This weeks challenge at Less Is More is to use newsprint.

I've made a Christmas card using my favorite Christmas stamp [PSX], I've had it for years and always manage to use it every Christmas.

I stamped the script [stamp unknown] with festive berries and forest moss distress ink.
I stamped and embossed the image onto a book page, cut it out and adhered it to the card, then I added some gold beads, narrow ribbon and stamped the greeting.

A Vintage Christmas At The Craft-Room

Time for another Craft-Room Challenge. We do not have a host this time, following a group discussion we thought it would be fun to have a Vintage Christmas.  You are welcome to make anything Vintage Christmas Themed that strikes your fancy.

Crafty Individuals are our Sponsors for the challenge.

For my DT piece I've made a Christmas card using a Gecko Galz image.

I covered half the card with Christmas vellum and the other half with some paper from my stash. The image was edged with fired brick distress ink and matted onto a some patterned paper, I used the same patterned paper to die cut the holly leaves [Sizzix], I covered the leaves with stickles, I also put some stickles on the image. I dyed some seam binding green [wished I'd used a different green] and added it to the card then I added the holly, red beads and sentiment.

This is another card using a Gecko Galz image.

Again I used patterned paper and card from my stash. I put some stickles on the image and added some wooden snowflakes that I embossed with glittery white embossing powder, the glittery bits don't show up very well in both photos.

If you've started to make your Christmas cards and need some inspiration why not pop over to the Craft-Room challenge to see the fabulous samples that the rest of the DT have made.

Halloween Postcard

Good morning all and a big welcome to my new follower Carol, it's lovely to have you with me.

Halloween is the latest challenge at the Speed Craft Challenge, they have changed one of their rules, you now have 15 minutes to make your project instead of 10 minutes. It's nice to have a bit longer but I still didn't finish in the time.

Here is a photo of the items I used.

This is as far as I got in the 15 minutes - I used the stop watch on my phone.

I sponged distress ink on to the card and splattered with water, after drying it I stamped and embossed the skull and sentiment. I made a mask to cover the skull and stamped some crackle then I took some colour of the skull with a water brush, then I edged the card with distress ink.

After the 15 minutes was up I stamped some bats and cats.

Stamps used.
Stampers Anonymous - skull and sentiment.
Kaisercraft - crackle.
Cherry Pie Art Stamps - cats and bats.

Embossed ATCs

Good morning everyone and a big welcome to my latest followers Laine and Su Pi, thank you for joining me.

I'd like to share some ATCs with you today, I made them earlier in the year.

The backgrounds were made using Dylusion spray inks and Kaisercraft stamps.
I used Dreamweaver stencils and glossy black Embossing Paste for the main images.

Halloween Journal Page

Today I'd like to share with you my Halloween journal page - I had great fun making it.

I'm linking it to the following challenges
Artist Trading Post - Halloween.
That's Crafty - Spooky.
Order Of The Opus Gluei - Ghostly Goings On.
Make My Monday - Halloween.
Haunted Design House - Hellacious Halloween.

I started by painting the page with gesso and then I used an Andy Skinner skull mask with some modelling paste. When everything had dried I sprayed it with different colours of Dylusion ink. I used an orange Zig felt tip pen to make some flames at the bottom of the page. The bats and web were stamped straight onto the page, all the other images were stamped onto tissue paper and glued to the page. I made a wash with black acrylic paint and water and painted it over the skull, when I mopped up some of the  wash it took some of the inks away and I rather like the effect it had on the skull.

The stamps I used are
Stampotique - the spider.
Inkadinkado - the two graves at the bottom of the page, on says "I'll be back" and the other one says "Holy smoke, it's hot down here.
Cherry Pie Art Stamps - bats, skeletons, gravestones,

Let It Snow

I've made a Christmas card for the October challenge at Crafty Individuals, the theme is Halloween Madness or Christmas Frenzy.

I started by spraying a piece of patterned paper from my stash with some silver Spray and Sparkle.
I distressed the edges and coloured with walnut stain distress ink.
I added some seam binding that had been coloured with peacock feathers distress ink and a punched snowflake  strip [Martha Stewart].
The two images [Crafty Individuals] were stamped onto white card and embossed with black embossing powder, I edged them with peacock feathers and vintage photo distress ink
I added a large die cut snowflake [Tattered Lace] and three wooden snowflakes that I'd embossed with some white silver sparkle [All Night Media] embossing powder.

Ten Minute Card

Hi everyone, before I show you my card I'd like to welcome my newest followers, it's lovely to have you join me.

Chrissie from Jumbled Crafts  put a link in one of her posts for the The Speed Craft Challenge. You are given a theme and you have to make something in ten minutes or under, for the latest challenge the theme is Ink Sprays or Spritzers so I thought I'd have a go.

To save time I got all my supplies ready.
Then I put the timer on. I sprayed the inks onto my craft mat with some water and smooshed a piece of card through it and dried it with a heat gun, then I stamped the images with Versamark ink and embossed with white embossing powder. I just managed to adhere it to a card blank when the timer went. The thing that took the longest was having to use the heat gun to dry the card and do the embossing.

This is the result after ten minutes.

After the time was up I added some ribbon, punched snowflakes [Martha Stewart] and pearls.

I think I prefer it with out the snowflakes.

Less Is More - Two Of Something

At Less Is More this week they want to see two of something on our cards, so I've made a Christmas card with two baubles on it.

I stamped the small bauble and masked it before stamping the larger bauble. I painted the baubles with Fresco Finish Paints and stamped the snowflakes and sentiment.
The stamps are Paperartsty/Jofy for the baubles and snowflakes and the sentiment is an Inkadinkado stamp.

Make Your Own Background

Another fortnight has flown by and it's time for another Craft-Room Challenge
Lovely Mervi has chosen the theme Make Your Own Backgroun, she doesn't want to see any designer papers.

Our sponsor for the challenge is The Stamp Man.

For my DT piece I've made a card.

I started with one of my mono prints.

I spritzed some felt tipped spots

I used a stencil with some distress ink and stamped some script [Dina Wakley] with distress ink.

I adhered my background to a card blank and stamped the image and sentiment.
The main image [Dina Wakley] and the sentiment [The Artisic Stamper] were stamped with Versamark and embossed with black powder.
I drew some lines and dots around the edge of the card.

My very talented teamies have made some beautiful samples so why not pop over to the Craft-Room to take a look.

Deep In The Forest

Good morning, I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

I'd like to share a journal page with you today, I haven't done much journaling and am always amazed at all the wonderful pages that people do.

I've made my pages for the Art Journal Journey challenge, the theme is Deep In The Forest.

I started of by covering the pages with gesso and stamped some leaves with archival ink. Earlier in the day I collected some fallen leaves and Sycamore seeds and using lots of glue adhered them to the pages then I covered the leaves with tissue paper.

This photo shows the background and the leaves covered with tissue paper

I painted the pages with lot of different green inks and some orange and red on the leaves, the leaves were given a final coat of gold Acrylic Artists Ink.
I stamped lots of animals onto tissue paper and coloured them on the back with acrylic paint and adhered them to the pages, the badger had two coats of white but some of the green ink came still came through.

I was pleased with how the leaved turned out.

Here is a list of the stamps and inks that I used.
Adirondack Colour Wash Sprays.
Dylusion Ink Sprays.
Distress Stain.
Acrylic Artists Ink.
Elusive Images/Chocolate Baroque - tree stamp.
Inkadinkado  - small leaves.
Large leaves unknown.
Hobby Art - badger, hedgehog, fox, deer and squirrel.
TJ Designs - nest.

Inchie ATCs

I'd like to share with you today some ATCs that I made earlier in the year. They were for an inchie swap at Paperplay.

I used stampboard for all the inchies.

For this ATC I use a mono print and stamped some swirls. The stamp I used for the image is an Inkadinkado stamp coloured with distress ink.

Again I used a mono print and stamped some paw prints [Craft UK] with gesso. The main image is an Inkadinkado stamp and the meow is andother Craft UK

The background for this ATC was made using acrylic paint on an acrylic block. The main image is and Inkadinkado stamp and the sentiment is a Paperartsy stamp.

Have a lovely weekend everyone and I hope you're having better weather than I'm having here.

Halloween Time

I wasn't going to do anything for Halloween this year but I didn't get my second project finished at the Andy Skinner workshop that I went to a couple of weeks ago.  I brought home the painted foam board and clock from the workshop and found some plastic skulls in my stash so it ended up being a Halloween project.

I'd like to enter my project in the following challenges.

Mixed Media Mojo - Halloween/Fall with fabric, I used hessian for the background.
Rhedd's Creative Spirit - Halloween or Not.
Altered Eclectics - Anything Goes.

Here are a couple of photos of the skull.

I used mostly DecoArt products.
The clock was covered with Crackle Paste.
I used Modeling Paste on the edges to give some texture.
The round bit at the top is the center of the clock, I painted it with acrylic paint and covered it with Crackle Glaze.
I used a Kaisercraft crackle stamp on the background.
Everything was painted with acrylic paints and I used some olive bronze and emerald Treasure Gold and Treasure Brass on the raised areas and also on the skulls.

Here is a closer look at Mr Poe.

I did an image transfer with a Gecko Galz image and stamped some script. The edges were done the same way as the skull section.
I painted some hessian with gesso and adhered all the bits to it.
I added some die cut ravens [Sizzix], the clock is a Sizzix die as well.

A CAS Card For Autumn

I have a CAS card to share with you today, I've made a few CAS cards now and still find them difficult to do.

I first stamped the image [Inkadinkado stamp] and then masked the card leaving a strip that I coloured with Distress Ink. I then drew black lines along the edge of the strip of colour.

I'd like to enter the card in the following challenges.

One Layer Simplicity Challenge - Turning To Fall.
That's Crafty Challenge - Keep It Simple.
Less Is More - Autumns Bounty.
Pan Pastel - Autumn

Altered Notebook

KCUK had a Butterfly Mingle a couple of months ago, we could make anything we liked as long as there was a butterfly on it, my partner was Darlene and this is the altered notebook that I made for her.

I started by brayering different coloured acrylic paint onto a piece of copy paper and stenciled some leaves with acrylic paint, I lightly drew round the leaves with a black pencil.
After covering the notebook I added some frayed fabric and a piece of a Sizzix die cut with some ribbon threaded through it.
The image was stamped onto coloured card two times and I fussy cut one of the butterflies and covered it with stickles.
I embellished the cover with a couple of stick pins that I'd made, some roses and some tiny butterfly charms.

I'd like to link my notebook to the following challenges.
Artist Trading Post Exchange Anything Mixed Media Goes.
Altered Eclectics Anything Goes.
Rhedd's Creative Spirit Halloween or Not.

This is the notebook before I altered it.

This is the background paper that I made.

I then covered the notebook with the paper.

This is the back of the book. I'm not sure who made The Indian Butterfly Legend stamp.

Sparkle and Shine

Good morning. I've a Christmas card to share with you today and I'd like to link it to the following challenges.

The dies that I used are
Die'sire - This is a 6" square die that I used on the front of the card, it also embosses.
Tattered Lace for the snowflakes.
Tonic for the sentiment.

I used some silver paper behind the aperture and covered the snowflakes with stickles.

This photo shows the sparkle a bit better.
