The Last Craft-Room Challenge of the Year.

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and are ready to do some crafting. The theme for the last CRAFT-ROOM CHALLENGE  of the year is Anything Goes.

My last DT card of the year is a very easy card to make.
I used a Penny Black stamp and dusty concord and peeled paint Distress stain.
I started by dabbing the Distress stain onto the stamp and stamping it onto a piece of white card I then matted this onto some mauve card, tied some ribbon round it and matted it onto a white card blank. I stamped the sentiment [Inkadinkado] in the corner.
I'm looking forward to seeing all your works of art and if you need inspiration why not pop over to the Craft-Room Challenge by clicking on the link at the start of the post to see what the rest of the DT have done.

Sentimental Art

This is my first DT piece for CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS using the fabulous Studio 490 Wendy Vecchi Sentimental Art stamp set.

I started by edging a white card blank with black soot Distress ink and then I attached a piece of pink patterned paper. I stamped the large image onto pink card using black Archival ink and attached it to the card. I cut a circle using a Spellbinders Picot Edge Circles die and stamped the sentiment, then I threaded some narrow black ribbon through the holes and attached it to the card. I used the Tim Holtz/Alterations Tattered Pinecone die to make the roses and for the flourishes I used the Tim Holtz/Alterations Festive Greenery die. The last thing I did was to add some black gems .

As this is my last post before Christmas I would like to wish you all a

VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS

Paris Postcard

Here is my latest DT piece for CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS using the Spellbinders JustRite stamp sheet, it should have been posted last week but life is still getting in the way of crafting and blogging.
I started by colouring a piece of card with milled lavender distress ink then I embossed it with a Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folder. I went over the raised areas and edges with scattered straw and walnut stain distress ink. All the images have been stamped with walnut stain, the two main images were stamped onto card that had been diecut with a Spellbindes die. I wrapped ribbon round the images and added a stamped fleur de lis to one and an Eiffel Tower charm to the other and I tied some ribbon along the fold.

Poinsettia Wreath

Thank you everyone that joined in with the Handmade Flowers challenge, we had some beautiful creations. The latest CRAFT-ROOM  challenge is Diecuts and Punches and has been chosen by Nikki.

For my DT piece I made this wreath using the Spellbinders Layered Poinsettias dies. This set of dies are great as they emboss the flowers as well a cutting them.
I started by cutting a cardboard ring and wrapped strips of patterned paper round it. I then covered some card with some sticky backed aluminium  and cut 7 of the large Poinsettia flowers and 7 of the next size down and 7 leaves. I covered the flowers and leaves with a black acrylic dabber and wiped of the excess paint just leaving black paint in the embossed areas. I coloured the flowers and leaves with Stazon. I attached a small flower to one of the larger flowers and then adhered them to the cardboard ring, then I adhered the leaves. I wrapped some gold ribbon round the wreath and made a hanger and bow. I adhered some gold beads to the centres of the poinsettias. The last thing I did was to shape the petals and leaves.

I'm looking forward to seeing your creations and don't forget to be eligible for the prize draw you must have the CRAFT-ROOM logo in your sidebar.

Paris

This is my latest CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS card using the JustRite Bon Voyage stamp set.
I covered a card blank with a piece of double sided paper, folded a corner over and added a fleur de lis brad, then I slipped a small piece of the paper behind the fold. Using the Spellbinders set of Fleur de Lis Accents I cut a couple of the long strips and coloured them with evergreen bough Distress ink and then adhered them edge to edge on a piece of the reverse side of the paper then I added some rivets and adhered it to the card. I put some ancient copper Cosmic Shimmer UTEE onto a none stick mat and melted it with my heat gun then stamped the Eiffel Tower in it, I adhered it to the card when it had cooled down. I stamped and embossed the Paris attached it to the card and added another fleur de lis brad to the corner.

A Couple of Christmas Cards

Here are a couple of Christmas cards that I've made for GECKO GALZ.

The image that I've used is from the Winter Wonderland collage sheet.
I started by edging a  white card blank with some blue ink and then I adhered some paper from my stash and I covered this with some angel hair. I matted the image on to some white card and coloured the edge with blue ink then attached it to the card. I cut some snowflakes out of some glitter card using a Martha Stewart punch and attached them to the card then I added the greetings and some ribbon.

For this card I used an image from the Angels collage sheet and Unchainedmelody background paper.
I adhered the background paper to a card blank and edged it and the image with some gold foil. I adhered a couple of cupcake cases to the card and attached the image after matting it onto some red card. I then attached the greetings and a piece of gold mesh.

Snowflake Card

This is my latest DT piece for CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS using the Stylish Christmas  stamp set.

I stamped the scrolls four times onto a piece of white card with Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder, then I brayered over it with faded jeans Distress ink then cut it into a square and matted it onto some white glitter card. I brayered a white card blank with faded jeans then stamped the scrolls round the edge with the same ink. I adhered a piece of silver mesh across the middle then cut a couple of snowflake strips out of white glitter card with a Martha Stewart punch. I attached the square to the card and added a wooden snowflake. I'd embossed the wooden snowflake with a white glittery embossing powder before attaching it to the card.

A Postcard From Paris.

I can't believe that another fortnight has flown by and it's time for the next Craft-Room Challenge. The theme this time has been chosen by the lovely Debi and she has chosen Travel/Postcard.

I know I called my DT piece a postcard in the title but it's really a 9.5 inch by 7.5 inch canvas. I started by painting the canvas with a cream colour then adding a little bit of blue, then I stamped various images to do with Paris but my stamping kept going wrong and I kept adding more paint that mixed with the stamping ink until it became a horrid muddy background, fortunately I had a lot of images to cover it. The three main images are from the Gecko Galz Picture Perfect collage sheet, and all the other images were stamped and then coloured with vintage photo Distress ink. I attached some black lace to the sides of the canvas and attached some beaded ribbon to the middle image then I adhered all the images to the canvas and added some metal corners. When it was finished I decided that I wanted some touches of gold embossing so I applied some Versamark with a stencil brush to parts of the canvas and embossed with gold. I got a little bit heavy handed by the time I got to the bottom.
The Moulin Rouge stamps that I used are by Hampton Art and the Eiffel tower ticket is a Stampers Anonymous stamp.

Why not pop over to the Craft-Room Challenge Blog to have a look at all the fabulous work that the Design Team have done and don't forget that to be eligible for the prize draw you must have the Craft-Room logo in your sidebar.

Favorite Colour.

First of all I would like to say a big hello to all my followers and welcome my new followers. I really do appreciate you liking my work enough to follow me and I enjoy reading all your comments.

I've not felt like crafting or blogging for a few days because of a nasty little bug that sent me to my sick bed, but I'm feeling a lot better now apart from a cough and bunged up nose. I'm very behind with leaving comments on blogs but I hope to try and catch up some time this week.

For the challenge at JUST FOR FUN this week we have to use our favorite colour, so my card has to be green. Last week my Winter Distress inks arrived from the Craft Room so I used the colour evergreen bough to colour a piece of card using the direct to paper technique, then I stamped the trees with iced spruce, I distressed the edges before attaching it to a white card blank. I stamped the robin onto some of the coloured card and cut it out using a Spellbinders die, I matted it onto some white card that had also been cut out with a Spellbinders die. I attached it to the card with some gold ribbon so that it dangled. I stamped the greetings and added a snowflake charm.
The stamps that I used are
Artimio for the trees.
Andy Skinner for the robin.

White and Silver Christmas Card

Here is my latest DT card for CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS using the Stylish Christmas stamp set designed by Sam Poole.
This is a very straightforward card to make. I stamped the flourishes round the edges of a white card blank with VersaMark and embossed them with silver embossing powder. I embossed some silver card in a snowflake embossing folder then matted it onto some blue card, then I tied some ribbon round it and adhered it to the card blank. The robin was stamped onto white card and embossed with silver. I attached it to some blue card with brads then adhered it to the card blank. The greeting was stamped and embossed with silver and cut out with a Spellbinders die and then matted onto some blue card, this was attached to the ribbon.

Birdcage Layout

This is my latest DT piece for GECKO GALZ, it's an 8"square layout using the birdcage and bird digi stamps and an image from the Little Darlings Ephemera sheet.

I enlarged the birdcage and printed it onto patterned paper, then I enlarged the birds, turned one of them round and printed them onto white card. I rounded the bottom corners of the birdcage and attached it to a piece of coordinating card that I had used a Martha Stewart punch to diecut the birds at the top. I attached some lace to three of the sides before matting it onto the base card. I rounded the corners of the image and used Victorian velvet Distress ink on the edges then attached it to the card. The last things that I did was to add a bow to the top of the cage, cut out the birds and attach them with some flowere down the side.

Favorite Rubber Stamp

This month at Just For Fun it's Neet's turn to choose a theme and she has chosen Favorites. This week you have to use your Favorite Stamp. I have a lot of stamps I love but the one I've chosen is by Paper Inspirations, it's one of my all time favorites. Here are a couple of cards that I've made with it.

I started of by covering a card blank with some Anna Griffin paper then I went round the edge with peeled paint Distress ink and stamped butterflies down one side - I don't know who made the stamp. I embossed some green card with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and distressed it with a sanding block, tied some ribbon round it and attached it to the card with some gold brads. The main image was stamped onto some patterned card and I matted it onto some black card befor attaching it to the card blank. The happy birthday is an Inkadinkado stamp.

This is the second card that I made. All the ingredients are the same except that I added a Tando Creative frame that I'd coloured with some peeled paint Distress stain and then I added some galaxy gold Brilliance ink. I also added some Martha Stewart punched Butterflies.

Blooming Canvas

Last Sunday I went with my friend Alison to the Craft Barn for a workshop with the lovely Jo Firth-Young. We made a canvas and a door hanging.

This is the door hanging.
I painted the wooden base with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paints, then when it was dry I spread a layer of Fresco Finish crackle glaze and when this was dry I added another coat of a lighter paint, I love the crackle effect. When all the paint was dry I went round the edge with some Distress ink. The flowers and leaves are Claudine Hellmuth Blooms, stamped onto white card with the paint and then cut out and attached to the base, then I added a few buttons.

The canvas is 12" x 12" and I painted it with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paint. I stamped the Claudine Hellmuth blooms with the paint onto sticky backed canvas and cut them out, the fence and some of the flowers were stamped onto an old book page. I added some buttons and liquid pearl dots.and one of the things that I bought whilst at the Craft Barn was the Tim Holtz Sizzix/Alterations Decorative Strip die so I added a border to the top of the canvas.

Merry Christmas Card

This is my latest DT piece for CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS using the Stylish Christmas 1 stamp set.
I started by colouring the edges of a white card blank with fired brick Distress ink, then I tied a piece of red ribbon round some glitter card and attached it to the card blank. I stamped the flourishes onto white card with olive and crimson Archival ink then embossed it with a dotty Cuttlebug embossing folder, this was then matted onto some red card and attached to the glitter card. I used my Cricut to cut the red and white labels, I stamped the Merry Christmas with the crimson ink onto the white label and matted it onto the red label, then I covered it with stickles and attached it to the card when it had dried. The poinsettia was made with the Spellbinders layered poinsettia dies, I attached it to the card and added some gold beads.

A Card For A Man

It's time for another CRAFT-ROOM challenge. This time it's the turn of the lovely Mervi to choose the theme and she has chosen Fathers/Male.

For my card I covered a card blank with some coordinating papers. I've used Stampers Anonymous stamps and Spellbinders large circles and small scalloped circles dies. It was a very simple card to make, everything was matted and layered and embellished with brads, cogs and chains.

I'm entering my card into a couple of challenges:
Quixotic Inspirations sketch challenge.

A Christmas Card.

An 8" x 8" layout. I used a Martha Stewart border punch for the lacy edges, a Marianne Design die for the flourishes. The hat was cut using my Cricut machine and the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. I handmade the flowers and then added lace and some pearls to the side and to the hat.

A New Years card. The clock is a Tim Holtz Sizziz/Alterations die. I stamped and embossed the fireworks in the background using different coloured embossing powders that had glitter in it.

An altered notebook. I covered the book with a patterned paper and I also covered a card frame with a coordinating paper. I went round the edges with dusty concord Distress ink and stamped the flourishes in the corners of the cover with a Creative Expressions stamp and dusty concord Distress ink. I embellished it with lace, ribbon, flowers and metal corners.

I hope you enjoy the hop and I wish you all Good Luck.

Creative Expressions Card

I received a fabulous set of stamps from CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS a couple of days ago, it's a new set of Christmas stamps designed by Sam Poole called Stylish Christmas 1.

This is my first DT piece with them.
I started of with a white card blank and stamped the flourishes round the edge with fired brick Distress ink then went round the edge with brushed corduroy Distress ink. I swiped some fired brick over some corrugated card then spread some stickles over it and tied some raffia round it, then attached it to the card. I stamped the robin onto some white card with brushed corduroy, then distressed the edges and coloured them with brushed corduroy then stamped NOEL with fired brick. I coloured the robin's breast with a red pencil and added some stickles. I made the poinsettia with red card and the Spellbinders layered poinsettia die. I covered them with stickles and added some gold beads.

Halloween ATC

I made this ATC for the Oh La La group October challenge at Bella Creations. We were given the lovely witch image to use by Gecko Galz.
For the background I used a piece of card that was left over from a previous project, it had been coloured with butterscotch, lettuce and terra cotta Adirondak sprays. I stamped a web in the corner and did a black blob and added a couple of red gems to make it look like a spider head. The purple is a piece of material from one of my daughters discarded dresses. The witches brew is an Inkadinkado stamp. For the cat I used a Tim Holtz Sizzix/Alterations die. I added a couple of red gems for the pumpkin's eyes and a green gem for the cat's eye.

Creative Expressions Christmas Cards

For my CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS DT piece this week I decided to make a Christmas card.

I started of with a piece of black and white dotty paper and die cut the edges with Martha Stewart punches, I attached it to a white card blank. I stamped the trumpets and masked them before stamping the music, then I tore the edges. I stamped the carol singers and sentiment onto white card and then cut them out using the Spellbinders small labels set of dies. I wrapped a piece of music ribbon round the music and attached the sentiment, then I attached it and the carol singers to the card. I put a little bit of glitter glue to the images and added some of the snowflakes that were left from when I die cut the edges.
The Creative Expressions stamp sets that I used are
Partridge In a Pear Tree set for the trumpets and music.
Vintage Christmas set for the carol singers and sentiment.

Here is another Christmas card.
I started of with a fancy edged card blank and edged it with teal ink then I attached a piece of background paper from my stash. I stamped the image and sentiment onto turquoise card and embossed it using white embossing powder that has some glitter in it. I distressed the edges and coloured them with the teal ink. I wrapped some turquoise ribbon round the top and then tied a piece of silver mesh around it. I added some die cut snowflakes that I'd covered with stickles, not sure if I should have put them on.
The stamps are from the Winter Wonderland set.
I used a Martha Stewart punch for the snowflakes.

Just For Fun Guest Designer

I was thrilled to be asked to be the October JUST FOR FUN guest designer, I've never been a guest designer before so I'm feeling very pleased with myself.
The theme this week is to recycle things from the bedroom/sewing box so I went straight to the bottom of my wardrobe where I keep charity shop frames waiting to be used, then I took some things from my sewing box and found some bits of material and this is what I came up with.
This is a side view.
This is what I started with.

I painted the frames with a pale blue emulsion paint then I attached the small trays[not sure where I got them from] to the inside of the box frame. I stamped images onto the sides of the frame with a mixture of Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps, Inkadinkado and Darcies stamps. I stamped some images onto white card using the Stampers Anonymous Haberdashery stamp set, coloured them with Distress ink, then cut them out and stuck them inside the frame. I attached some lace to the front edge of the frame and then added an Alterations dress form. I then started to add all the bits and bobs from my sewing box. I rolled up strips of materials and put them in the box to look like materials in a shop, some of the material was draped over the dress form with beaded ribbon around the waist. I filled a couple of small glass bottles with beads and buttons, there's a couple of toggles that came of some clothing years ago. I put my thimble in as it's been in my sewing box for years, it's never used because I just can't get on with thimbles. The large rose is of a cheap Primark bracelet that I bought last year. I found an empty bottle of my favorite perfume and put that in standing on top of a cotton reel that I've wrapped ribbon round. I added some charms and buttons, the orange button peeping out from behind the material at the bottom is of an orange trouser suit that I had when I was 17, no I'm not going to tell you how many years ago that was. The only things that I got out and forgot to put on was some safety pins and a needle threader.

Nevermore

Time for another CRAFT ROOM CHALLENGE. This week the theme is Black and White.
I started with a black card blank that was white inside and I used a Martha Stuart punch on one edge so that the white inside showed through. I then stamped and embossed Edgar onto a piece of white card, punched out the top edge and wrapped some black thread round it then I attached it to the card blank. I then stamped various images onto another piece of white card and attached this to the card blank. The Nevermore was stamped and embossed onto white card.and then matted onto black card, then I printed the verse from  the poem on my computer and matted it onto black card. The birds were die cut with a Tim Holtz Sizzix Alterations die.
All the stamps that I've used are Cherry Pie Art Stamps.

Why not visit the Craft-Room Challenge Blog to see the lovely samples that the rest of the Design Team have made.

To do this 8" x 8" layout I used an image from the Little Darlings Ephemera sheet and the Chalkboard Sentiment background paper.
The pink card and patterned paper is from my stash. I used a Marianne Designs die for the green flourishes
The sentiment is stamped using a Hobby Art stamp and the corner flourishes are done using a Stamp Bug stamp. The flowers and embellishments are from my stash. I think I've put two too many flowers on it.

Stampboard Pendant

I made this pendant for a Stampboard Mingle at KCUK and now that Ann has received it I can blog it.
I started of by getting hubby to drill the holes, next time I do anything like this I shall make the holes a little larger. I stamped the image, not sure who's stamp it is, then masked the image before colouring the background with blue Brilliance ink then a little galaxy gold round the edge. The hair and flower were coloured useing Promarkers. I tripple embossed with clear UTEE and on the second embossed layer I added some gold micro beads. After each layer I had to make sure that the holes didn't get clogged up with the UTEE.  After it cooled down I added some jump rings, chain and charms then added the cord.

Graffiti Card

This is my latest DT piece for CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS using the Vintage Typewriter stamp set, I also used a Creative Expressions embossing folder.

I started of with a white piece of card and coloured it with frayed burlap Distress Ink then I splatted Distress Stain over the card, the colours I used are faded jeans, fired brick and wild honey. I then stamped various images from the stamp set and did a bit of doodling, then I cut the card to the size I wanted and embossed it. Before attaching it to a card blank I went over the bricks with rusty hinge Distress Ink  and attached a ribbon. I stamped the typewriter keys onto white card and punched out the letters that I wanted, adhered them to the card and put some Glossy Accents on the top. The last thing I did was to make a paperclip flower.

Craft-Room Challenge. Felines

Thank you everyone that entered our Anything Christmas Challenge. We had a lot of wonderful entries and it's going to be difficult to choose the top three.

The CRAFT ROOM CHALLENGE this week is Felines and it has been chosen by the lovely Zoe.
I love cats and have a few beautiful cat stamps but for my DT piece I decided to use my Bagpuss stamps and decoupage sheets. I'm a big fan of Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin and I love Bagpuss, the saggy old cloth cat.
For the background I used paper out of the decoupage kit and stamped Bagpuss onto some pink card. The main image is 3D decoupaged and the mouse and bird I just used a single image.
I used my computer to do Bagpuss's poem.
Don't forget to be eligible for the prize draw you need to have the CRAFT-ROOM logo in your sidebar with a link to the Craft-Room shop.
The rest of the Design Team have made some lovely inspirational samples, so why not take a look.

I'd also like to share with you a couple of pieces of needlework that I did over 20 years ago.
This is a piece of blackwork that I made for my mum and now have inherited back.
This cross stitch piece I made for me and it lives on one of my kitchen walls.
