Go Tag Thursday - Beach Huts

I'm very pleased to be hosting this weeks challenge at Go Tag Thursday and the theme I have chosen is Beach Huts.
The challenge is fairly new and is run by Sandie, it would be lovely if you visited and entered the challenge.

I made two samples.

I used grey board as the base for this tag. I painted the tag with a dark turquoise acrylic paint and when it was dry I painted Weathered Wood crackle medium in lines hoping it would look like planks of wood, I painted white paint over the tag and waited for the crackles. I used a black pencil to try and make the planks of wood look like planks of wood. The door was painted with watered down paint. I coloured some gauze with distress ink and glued it to the bottom of the tag and added some shells and an anchor charm, I cut the oars out of a magazine and the Life's A Beach was made using a Crafty Individuals stamp.

I coloured this tag with distress ink and dry brushed some white acrylic over it, I used a Crafty Individuals beach hut stamp on the background and added some tissue tape. The main image was stamped with a Michael Powell stamp and coloured with pencils. I coloured some gauze with distress ink and glued it to the bottom of the tag together with some white ric rac ribbon. The boat was stamped with a Crafty Secrets stamp, cut out and glued to the tag. The quote is a Hobby Art stamp.

Thank you for looking - have a lovely day and I hope you can take part in the challenge.
xxx Hazel.

By The Sea

By The Sea is the latest challenge theme at Tag Along - this is my tag for the challenge.

I coloured my tag with salty ocean Distress ink and embossed it with a Spellbinders Impressibilities stencil, I then coloured the raised edges with vintage photo Distress ink. I layered different colours of organza for the sea and sand. I stamped the beach belles and  coloured them with pencils, then cut them out and adhered them to the tag. I added the sentiments, tiny plane, metal charm and ribbon.
The stamps that I used are
Crafty Secrets for the beach belles and plane banner.
Crafty Individuals for the seaside sentiment.
Creative Expressions for the tiny plane.

On The Runway

The latest challenge theme at Frilly and Funkie is On The Runway, they want to see sewing or fashion projects - I have made a tag.

I stitched some hearts onto some turquoise material and layered this with some pink material, lace, tissue tape and some pretty braid. I then adhered the Gecko Galz image, buttons [stamp unknown], sentiment [Crafty Secrets stamp], roses and metal charms.

Just For Fun Guest Designer

I was thrilled to be asked to be the October JUST FOR FUN guest designer, I've never been a guest designer before so I'm feeling very pleased with myself.
The theme this week is to recycle things from the bedroom/sewing box so I went straight to the bottom of my wardrobe where I keep charity shop frames waiting to be used, then I took some things from my sewing box and found some bits of material and this is what I came up with.
This is a side view.
This is what I started with.

I painted the frames with a pale blue emulsion paint then I attached the small trays[not sure where I got them from] to the inside of the box frame. I stamped images onto the sides of the frame with a mixture of Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps, Inkadinkado and Darcies stamps. I stamped some images onto white card using the Stampers Anonymous Haberdashery stamp set, coloured them with Distress ink, then cut them out and stuck them inside the frame. I attached some lace to the front edge of the frame and then added an Alterations dress form. I then started to add all the bits and bobs from my sewing box. I rolled up strips of materials and put them in the box to look like materials in a shop, some of the material was draped over the dress form with beaded ribbon around the waist. I filled a couple of small glass bottles with beads and buttons, there's a couple of toggles that came of some clothing years ago. I put my thimble in as it's been in my sewing box for years, it's never used because I just can't get on with thimbles. The large rose is of a cheap Primark bracelet that I bought last year. I found an empty bottle of my favorite perfume and put that in standing on top of a cotton reel that I've wrapped ribbon round. I added some charms and buttons, the orange button peeping out from behind the material at the bottom is of an orange trouser suit that I had when I was 17, no I'm not going to tell you how many years ago that was. The only things that I got out and forgot to put on was some safety pins and a needle threader.

Grungy Monday No 2

I made this hanging for the Grungy Monday No 2 challenge over at Studio L3. The challenge was to use Studio Multi Medium as a resist. You can see the technique here at Ranger
I started of with a 5"x5" piece of mountboard and I covered it with a page from a book. I didn't have any foam to make a stamp so I used a grungeboard cotton reel and button die cut from the sewing room Sizzix Alterations die, I used the die cuts later as embellishments. I coloured the hanging with various Distress inks, added some material and lace at the bottom, the die cut dress form from the Alterations die down one side and some tape measure ribbon down the other side, then added other bits and bobs. I don't know who makes the word stamp that I used on the dress form, but the other stamped images are by Crafty Secrets.
The Distress inks that I used are dusty concord, shabby shutters, dried marigold, mustard seed, milled lavender and rusty hinge.
I'm also entering this in the Simon Says  stamp and show anything but a card challenge.
