Altered Wooden Clock

Good morning everyone, it’s March 1st already and time for the latest  Altered Eclectics challenge, as always the theme is anything goes as long as it’s altered art/mixed media, paper crafts aren’t allowed.
I've altered a wooden clock for my DT project.

I found this wooden clock in a local charity shop.

I gave the clock a coat of gesso then a coat of Decoart paynes grey acrylic paint, I then gave it a coat of Weathered Wood crackle medium and a coat of Decoart spa blue acrylic paint, I waited for the cracks to appear, I wasn't happy with the crackle, I must have put the crackle medium on too thick as the cracks are quite wide.

I covered the clock with a napkin that has blue roses on it.

I sprayed some cofffee shop Glimmer mist at the bottom of the clock and added some washi tape.

To decorate the clock I used my finger to spread some Imagination Craft moonlight black wax over some silver metal flowers and a paper flower that had been sprayed with moonlight Glimmer Mist. I also used my finger to spread a little treasure pewter on the edges of the clock.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look, have a lovely day. xxx

March Bullet Journal

Hi everyone. This year I’ve started a bullet journal and am sharing some of my March pages with you. I never really saw the point of these journals until I watched some videos and thought I’d have a go - I’m now hooked.
I’m entering my spread in the Art Journal Journey challenge, the theme is the colour yellow.

One of the first signs of spring in my garden are the yellow flowers on my forsythia hedge so they are the inspiration for my March pages. I drew the flowers and coloured them with coloured pencils. I made a lot of mistakes with January and February and am learning with each month. Below are some more pages that are finished and ready to be filled, there are another eight not quite finished.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog, you're all very welcome, have a lovely day. xxx

SPA - Vintage Florals

Good morning all, I hope you’re all having a good weekend.
The theme for this weeks Sunday Postcard Art challenge is Vintage Florals.

My postcard is a collage of papers from my stash, washi tape and Tim Holtz Botanicals, I also used a script stamp and a Finnabair clock stamp.

It looks like it’s going to be another lovely day, my tortoise Harry has decided that spring is on the way, he woke up from his long hibernation yesterday.
Thank you for visiting my blog, have a lovely day. xxx

Valentine Card

Happy Valentines Day.

Today I'm sharing the card that I made for my husband, I was inspired by a video I watched on YouTube, sorry but I've forgotten the name of the artist.

I used watercolour paint to paint the hearts and when the paint was dry I splattered the card with some Kuretake gold watercolour paint. I used a Pitt pen to write the word love.

This photo shows more of the gold splatters.

I'm entering my card in the following challenges
Try It On Tuesday - Romance
Moo Mania and More - Love Is In The Air

Thank you for visiting, have a lovely day. xxx

Altered Art Journal Cover

It’s February already and time for the first Altered Eclectics challenge of the year. As always the theme is Anything Goes as long as it’s mixed media or altered art, no paper crafts allowed.

My DT project is an altered art journal cover.

This is the cover that I’ve altered. I started by removing the chipboard pieces to give me a flat surface to work on.

I found some embossed and die cut card and some wooden pieces that I thought I would use.

I painted the cover with gesso and adhered some of the embossed and die cut card, I decided to use the wooden butterflies, when all the glue was dried I gave it another coat of gesso and then painted it with Decoart acrylic paints, I also used gelatos to add colour.

I dry brushed the cover with some white acrylic paint and added splatters, then I added some metalic wax, the wax doesn't show up on the photo.

This photo shows the front and back, I used a napkin to decorate the back, I think I prefer it to the front.

Thank you for dropping by and enjoy your day, I'm off to the haidressers soon - I'd rather stay in my warm house though. xxx

SPA - Zebra

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Zebra is this weeks theme at Sunday Postcard Art.

For the background I used a Dreamweaver metal stencil with some Dreamweaver matte black embossing paste that I found in my stash - I must have had it for about 15 years and it hadn't gone hard. The zebra is a Miles Beyond The Moon digital image that I printed, I wrote the word zebra onto white card and edged the postcard with a black marker.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look and thank you for all the lovely comments that you leave me, they're very much appreciated. xxx

Your’e a Star

Good morning everyone. Geometric shapes is the theme chosen by Alison at Art Journal Journey

I would also like to enter my page in the Moo Mania And More challenge Cold and Frosty Colours.

The background was a mop up page in my journal. I stamped some stars with metalic glaze on the background but they don't show up very well. I stamped some larger stars [Carabelle Studio] and doodled on them with white pen. I adhered a Tim Holtz paper doll to a large star that I'd cut out of previously coloured card. I drew zig zag lines round the page to frame the image and coloured it with a silver Posca pen. The photo below shows the silver star sequins that I'd adhered to the page.

Thank you for dropping by, have a lovely weekend. xxx

SPA - Steampunk

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a good weekend. The theme for this weeks Sunday Postcard Art challenge is Steampunk.

I used distress ink to colour the background. The stamps used on the background are Graphic 45 and 7gypsies stamps. I stamped the main images (Graphic 45) onto the card to place them and then I stamped them onto white copy paper, coloured them with pencils, cut them out and adhered them over the stamped images on the card. I added some wash I tape.

Thank you for visiting, you’re all very welcome. xxx

SPA - Wings

This is my first post of the year and I hope it will be the first of many.

Wings is this weeks theme at Sunday Postcard Art, it was lovely getting into my craft room to have a play, it seems to be such a long time since I made anything new.

I collaged some patterned papers for the background and used my finger to spread some gesso in the centre of the card. I then added some splatters. The birds are an image from a Daphne’s Diary magazine, I adhered them to the card and added some remnant rubs.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look. xxx

AJSS 2018 JOURNAL PAGES

Good morning everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely weekend.
I’ve been looking through some photos of work that I did earlier in the year and didn’t post, I found a couple of art journal pages to share with you that I’d done for the Art Journal Summer School 2018.

This page was done for a lesson taken by Iris Fritschi - Cussens, we had to draw the figures with our left hand or right hand if left handed. I use acrylic paint and the quote was a sticker that I found in my stash.

Dina Wakley was the teacher for this lesson, I used a stencil, scribble sticks and Tim Holtz word stickers.

Thank you for visiting. Have a lovely day. xxx

Poppy Art Journal Page

Good morning everyone, a bright and sunny start to the day here, I hope it’s the same where you are.

I’m sharing with you an art journal page that I made a few months ago, I’ll have to try and remember the products that I used as I’ve lost the notes that I took at the time.

I used acrylic paint on the background and stencils, the poppy seedhead is a Paperartsy stencil and I used an Aall&Create stencil for the grass at the bottom. I stamped the poppy on some tissue paper and adhered it to the page, then I coloured the image with felt tip pens. I added some remnant rubs and some orange washi tape round the edges.

Thank you for visiting, you’re all very welcome. Have a lovely day. xxx

Art Journal Page

Good morning everybody. It's time for a new challenge at Altered Eclectics, as always the theme is Mixed Media/Altered Art.

I've done an art journal page for my DT piece.

I started by adding some colour to the page using watered down Dylusions ink, then I added some torn strips of washi tape, strips of book pages, a bit more colour and then I added some stamped script. I scribbled a circle on the corner and scribbled some writing round it. I die cut the circle using an Elizabeth entwined circle die and embossed it with some Frantage embossing enamel, the butterfly was made using a Sizzix stamp and die. I added a pen nib for the body and some stickles on the wings, the words are a Tim Holtz sticker.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look, have a lovely day. xxx
