Craft-Room Challenge - Picture Inspiration

Another fortnight has flown by and it's time for another craft-Room Challenge. This is the last challenge of the year and sadly it will be the last ever Craft-Room Challenge. It's been a difficult and busy year for some of the DT  and other members are moving to new pastures so we've decided to call it a day. Debi is the hostess of this last challenge and she has a lovely picture for us all to be inspired by.

Our sponsor for the challenge is The MDF Man

Inspiration Picture

For my DT piece I've decorated a frame and taken my inspiration from the roses, colour blue, snow and frost.

I gave the frame a couple of coats of gesso and then painted it blue, when the paint dried I dry brushed a paler blue over the top. I stencilled some snowflakes with modelling paste, when the paste dried I sprayed the frame with Glimmer Mist and melted some white Frantage embossing enamel. I printed the image and painted the edges with blue paint then I put it in the frame. I die cut the leaves and ivy and covered them with Stickles. I've had some red roses in my stash for a long time and I covered them with frosted lace Stickles. Then I glued them to the frame and added some silver cord.

A close up of the frame.

A close up of the flowers.

The rest of DT have been inspired by the picture and have made some gorgeous samples so why not visit the Craft-Room and take a look.

My First DT Post For Altered Eclectics

This is my first DT post for the Altered Eclectics challenge and I've made a Christmas Door Hanger. The challenge is Always Anything Goes As Long As It's Not A Card.

I found a plastic door hanger in a charity shop, it had a cute design on it. I started by giving it a couple of coats of gesso and then painted it blue.

I then stencilled some snowflakes with modelling paste and when the paste dried I gave it a wash of mermaid Fresco Finish paint and then I dry brushed it with snowflake Fresco Finish paint.

I put some stickles over the snowflakes and painted DecoArt Media Crackle Glaze over all the hanger when the stickles had dried, then I edged it with black soot
I die cut a Sizzix snowman and covered it with the crackle glaze, then I die cut the two Sizzix deer out of one of my monoprints and stamped some script on them, I also put some crackle glaze on them. I used a Spellbinder die and white card for the poinsettia and leaves and I covered them with red and green stickles. I glued everything to the hanger together with some silver cord, silver beads and die cut letters.

This is a close up of the crackle.

Tea Bag Folded Star And Felt Reindeer Christmas Tree Decorations

Two decorations to share with you today.

The first one is a tea bag folded star.

I got the pattern of the Internet but there's no link as I can't find where I got it from.
I made eight sections and glued them all together, then I covered it front and back with stickles, I embossed two wooden snowflakes with a glitter embossing powder and glued one on the front and one on the back.

This reindeer was a free kit in a magazine some time ago. It  was very easy to make.

Craft-Room Challenge - Christmas Decorations/No Cards

Good morning, it's my turn to choose the theme for the latest Craft-Room Challenge and I have chosen Christmas Decorations/No Cards.

Our sponsor for the challenge is Crafty Individuals,

For my DT project I've made a few Christmas tree decorations.

I wont show all the decorations today as my post will be too long so I'll share them with you over the next few days. I'll start off with the lantern as I was pleased with how it turned out..

I found the template for the lantern on Pinterest, here is the link.

I resized the template to fit on A4 card and printed it twice. I cut out one of the prints and cut out the windows, then I glued acetate over the windows. I scored and folded the sides and glued them to make the lantern shape.
With the second print I cut out the sides and top sections separately so that I could paint them.
I started by painting them with marlin Fresco Finnish and then covered them with Weathered Wood crackle medium. I left the Weathered Wood crackle to dry for a few hours and then painted Snowflake Fresco Finnish over it, this dried with a lovely cracked effect, I then sponged all the edges with weathered wood Distress ink, then I glued all the sides and top sections to the lantern. I put some Aleene's glitter snow on the top.
I die cut some ivy and leaves with a Sizziz die and green card and poinsettia flowers with a Spellbinders die and red card. I covered the die cuts with frosted lace Stickles. When the stickles dried I glued the flowers and leaves to the lantern and glued some beads to the centre of the poinsettias.

Vintage Tags

Good morning, I hope you're having a good weekend and have better weather than we have here, it's pouring down.
I'd like to share with you two Vintage tags.

Both tags were made the same way,
I use a couple of my mono prints for the tags and glued lace, die cuts, flowers, metal charms etc to them. I painted everything with acrylic paint and added the Gecko Galz images. I masked the images and sprayed the tags with Glimmer Mist.

Christmas ATCs

The theme for the November ATC swap at KCUK is Christmas, these are my ATCs for the swap.

I used inks on the background and splashed with water. I stamped the Crafty Individuals image on to white card and onto card matching the background, The white image was adhered to the ATC and I cut out the coloured star and adhered it to the image on the ATC. I added some silver stickles.

I adhered some patterned paper to the ATC and stamped the Sheena Douglas image onto white card. The image was watercolured with Distress ink. I added some die cut holly leaves, beads, ribbon. and some stickles.

Dream Tag

Another tag that I made earlier in the year.

The background has been coloured with Dylusion ink and I used a Sizzix diecut. The image was stamped onto some coloured card and cut out. I glued the waste from the diecut to the bottom of the tag and added gems. I stamped the dream and cut it out.
The main image is a PaperArtsy/Lynne Perrella stamp, I'm not sure who made the dream.

Harlequin Tag and Good News

Good morning all, a grim start to the weekend here, I hope it's better where you are.

Before I show you my tag I'd like to share some fabulous news that I received last weekend, I'm now on the Altered Eclectics Design Team - I'm so excited and will do my first project for them in December.

The tag I'm sharing with you was made earlier in the year.

I used one of my mono prints for the background and used a Stampers Anonymous stamp and distress ink to stamp the large harlequins. I used a mask and modelling paste for the small harlequins and coloured them with distress ink. I also used a Kaisercraft stamp on the background. The orange flower is of some handmade paper from my stash and I pust some tissue tape at the bottom of the tag. I used a Judikins stamp for the main image and it was stamped onto some coloured card and cut out. I think the Art stamp is Lost Coast Designs stamp.

Inspired By Rene Magritte

I  did this monochromatic painting of Rene Magritte's The Great War in 2002 when I use to go to watercolour classes, we had to find a painting and choose one paint to paint it with.

It was too big to go in my journal so I printed it and cut the image out but then I had to do a background so I decided on another Magritte painting The Empty Picture Frame. This is the result.
I'm linking it to the Art Journal Journey challenge - Inspired by the masters.

For the background I used watercolour pencils and a waterbrush.

This is a photo of The Great War

and this is a photo of The Empty Picture Frame.

Craft-Room Challenge - 3D

Good morning all, it's time for another Craft-Room Challenge and it's the lovely Christi's turn to choose the theme, she has chosen 3D. You can create anything as long as there's a 3D element on it.

Our sponsor this time around is Tando Creative.

For my DT piece I've made three 3D decoupaged Christmas cards. I use to do a lot of 3D decoupage years ago and it made a nice change to to do some again.

I've shown the front and side view of the cards, the side view is to show the layers. My photos aren't very good as the light wasn't very good when I took them.
There's not a lot to say about the cards - I cut out all the bits and used silicone glue to adhere them to the card.

.

The rest of the DT have made some great samples and would love you to visit the Craft-Room to take a look

Birdie ATCs

Good morning everyone, I hope you're having a lovely weekend, I had a fabulous day yesterday at a Mini Album workshop at the Craft Barn.

I'd like to share with you some Bird ATCs that I've made during the year.

I used a mono print background and stamped the hessian [Indigo Blu] and the branch [Inkadinkado]. Shabby pink Frantage was added to the card and I stamped the postmark [TJ Designs]. I stamped the bird [Lost Coast Design] onto a separate piece of card and cut it out.

I used Dylusions ink on the background and stamped the Inkadinkado branch. The Dina Wakley scribble bird was stamped onto a separate piece of card and cut out.

The background on this ATC is weaved pieces of handmade paper. The Sheena Douglas stamps were stamped onto white card and watercoloured and then cut out.

The background was made with Distress inks. The main image is by Crafty Individuals.

Inspired By The Masters

This month at the Art Journal Journey the challenge theme is Inspired By The Masters.

For my page I took my inspiration from Salvador Dali's Sleep. I decided that I didn't want crutches holding my head up but pretty butterflies that would let go of the strings as I woke up. In my sleep I'm dreaming of the countryside in the Summer.

I used acrylic paint and coloured pencils to colour my page, I think that if I ever did it again I wouldn't put the tiny flowers on.
Below is a photo of the original painting.

Jofy Birthday Cards

Good morning and what a lovely bright morning it is here today, I hope it's the same where you are.

Today I'm sharing a couple of cards with you that I made earlier in the year, I used PaperArtsy/Jofy stamps on both cards.

For the background I sponged Adirondack Brights ink onto some card and flicked water on it. I stamped the images and sentiment with Versamark and embossed it with white embossing powder. I used a punch that put nicks in the corners and wrapped some silver cord round, then it was matted onto some black card and then the card blank.

The background for this card was made using my Gelli plate. I stamped the images onto the background and stamped the flowers and tag onto a separate piece of card and cut them out. I added some  ribbon and dew drops.

Last Halloween Project For This Year

I made these ATCs for a swap with my friend Hazel.

I used one of my previously made backgrounds to stamp the Magenta image on. I coloured the leaves with a Sakura pen and matted it onto black card.

I stamped some script on another ready made background.
I stamped the Stampers Anonymous images onto white card and cut them out. I stamped some dots [PaperArtsy]  on the label and edged it with vintage photo distress ink. The skull was covered with Glossy Accents.

Less Is More - Newsprint

Was just finishing this card yesterday when the two RAF jets flew through the sound barrier intercepting the Latvian cargo plane - it was very loud and a good job I'd finished with the scissors.

This weeks challenge at Less Is More is to use newsprint.

I've made a Christmas card using my favorite Christmas stamp [PSX], I've had it for years and always manage to use it every Christmas.

I stamped the script [stamp unknown] with festive berries and forest moss distress ink.
I stamped and embossed the image onto a book page, cut it out and adhered it to the card, then I added some gold beads, narrow ribbon and stamped the greeting.

A Vintage Christmas At The Craft-Room

Time for another Craft-Room Challenge. We do not have a host this time, following a group discussion we thought it would be fun to have a Vintage Christmas.  You are welcome to make anything Vintage Christmas Themed that strikes your fancy.

Crafty Individuals are our Sponsors for the challenge.

For my DT piece I've made a Christmas card using a Gecko Galz image.

I covered half the card with Christmas vellum and the other half with some paper from my stash. The image was edged with fired brick distress ink and matted onto a some patterned paper, I used the same patterned paper to die cut the holly leaves [Sizzix], I covered the leaves with stickles, I also put some stickles on the image. I dyed some seam binding green [wished I'd used a different green] and added it to the card then I added the holly, red beads and sentiment.

This is another card using a Gecko Galz image.

Again I used patterned paper and card from my stash. I put some stickles on the image and added some wooden snowflakes that I embossed with glittery white embossing powder, the glittery bits don't show up very well in both photos.

If you've started to make your Christmas cards and need some inspiration why not pop over to the Craft-Room challenge to see the fabulous samples that the rest of the DT have made.

Halloween Postcard

Good morning all and a big welcome to my new follower Carol, it's lovely to have you with me.

Halloween is the latest challenge at the Speed Craft Challenge, they have changed one of their rules, you now have 15 minutes to make your project instead of 10 minutes. It's nice to have a bit longer but I still didn't finish in the time.

Here is a photo of the items I used.

This is as far as I got in the 15 minutes - I used the stop watch on my phone.

I sponged distress ink on to the card and splattered with water, after drying it I stamped and embossed the skull and sentiment. I made a mask to cover the skull and stamped some crackle then I took some colour of the skull with a water brush, then I edged the card with distress ink.

After the 15 minutes was up I stamped some bats and cats.

Stamps used.
Stampers Anonymous - skull and sentiment.
Kaisercraft - crackle.
Cherry Pie Art Stamps - cats and bats.

Embossed ATCs

Good morning everyone and a big welcome to my latest followers Laine and Su Pi, thank you for joining me.

I'd like to share some ATCs with you today, I made them earlier in the year.

The backgrounds were made using Dylusion spray inks and Kaisercraft stamps.
I used Dreamweaver stencils and glossy black Embossing Paste for the main images.

Halloween Journal Page

Today I'd like to share with you my Halloween journal page - I had great fun making it.

I'm linking it to the following challenges
Artist Trading Post - Halloween.
That's Crafty - Spooky.
Order Of The Opus Gluei - Ghostly Goings On.
Make My Monday - Halloween.
Haunted Design House - Hellacious Halloween.

I started by painting the page with gesso and then I used an Andy Skinner skull mask with some modelling paste. When everything had dried I sprayed it with different colours of Dylusion ink. I used an orange Zig felt tip pen to make some flames at the bottom of the page. The bats and web were stamped straight onto the page, all the other images were stamped onto tissue paper and glued to the page. I made a wash with black acrylic paint and water and painted it over the skull, when I mopped up some of the  wash it took some of the inks away and I rather like the effect it had on the skull.

The stamps I used are
Stampotique - the spider.
Inkadinkado - the two graves at the bottom of the page, on says "I'll be back" and the other one says "Holy smoke, it's hot down here.
Cherry Pie Art Stamps - bats, skeletons, gravestones,

Little Creatures

Little Creatures is this weeks theme at Less Is More.

I stamped the web and spider with black archival and then embossed it using a Cuttlebug folder. I matted it onto black card and adhered it to a card blank and then stamped the sentiment.
I used Inkadinkado stamps for the web and spider, the sentiment is a Cherry Pie Art Stamp.
