I fastened some chain to the wall with brads and put some jump rings on the ends. I used some quinacridone gold paint to make it look like the metal had rusted.

Try It On Tuesday - Guest Designer

I was thrilled to find that a tag I'd made had been chosen as one of the top 5 in the Try It On Tuesday Book Pages challenge and I was even more thrilled when I was asked to be a guest designer.

I have made a couple of postcards for my GD spot - the theme of the challenge is Sun/Moon/Stars.

For my sun postcard I used modelling paste with a Memory Box stencil, then I gave it a coat of gesso. To colour the background I used acrylic ink sprayed with water.

I kept adding more ink and water until I got the colours that I liked.

I stamped the PaperArtsy flower onto some white card twice, I coloured the flowers with the inks and cut them out, I glued one of the flowers to the card and then I cut the outer petals of the second flower and glued it over the first flower.

My moon and stars postcard was made the same way as the sun card.

I used a Crafters Workshop stencil with the modelling paste and used acrylic ink to colour it. I dry brushed some white acrylic paint over the top of the stars and then I added some stickles to the stars. The Clarity stamp moon was stamped onto white card, coloured with watercolours, cut out and attached to the card with thick double sided tape. I wrote the W. Clement Stone quote and added it to the card.

Please take a look at the challenge to see the fabulous samples that the very talented design team have made and I hope you can enter the challenge as well.

The Beatles is the new challenge theme at Sunday Postcard Art and it's being hosted by Marion.

I printed the image of the internet, cut it out and glued it to some card that I'd coloured with alcohol inks ages ago. I wrote some of the Beatles song titles on the card.

Thank you for looking, have a fabulous Sunday.

AJSS 2016 - Lesson 9

Rae Missigman was the teacher for lesson 9 - A Painted Paradise. For this we had to do an image transfer on matte medium using a picture of somewhere we've been or somewhere we'd like to go. I've done image transfers before but not on matte medium, when the paper was rubbed away the image was left on the matte medium and was transparent, you can't see this on the photograph. I've used an image of the Cote-dazure.

I glued my image transfer to the journal and used watercolours, neocolour and acrylic paint on the background and stencilling.

Thank you for dropping by - have a lovely weekend.

I added some colour with acrylic paints.

I used acrylic ink to add more colour by adding some different colour inks and spraying them with water.

I stamped the Stampotique bees onto card, coloured them and cut them out. I added some stickles to the wings. I glued them to the card along with the quote [PaperArtsy].

Coffee and Cream

I've made a card for the latest challenge at Try It On Tuesday - Coffee and Cream/Two Colours.

I'm also going to link it to the Craft Barns Two Weekly Challenge - All Around The House - I used instant coffee to colour my watercolour paper and also used my sewing machine that sits in my craft room not doing a lot.

I coloured some watercolour paper with instant coffee and water, when the paper was dry the coffee left on it was very sticky so I rinsed it of under the tap. I cut a pice of the paper to fit the card and stamped the La Blanche flower on the piece that was left. I cut the flower out. I put a piece of tissue wrap on the card and attached the flower and a heart [Clearly Impressed stamp] with some ribbon. The sentiment was done on my sewing machine, I frayed the edges of the material and attached it with staples.

Thank you for looking.

I covered the tag with a grey coloured gelli print, the cat and bats were stamped onto the tag, all the other images were stamped onto tissue paper and glued to the tag. I gave the tag a coating of matte medium, when this was dry I added colour with some pitt pens. I added some ribbon and the Creepy Lane.
All the stamps are Cherry Pie Art Stamps except the Creepy Lane which is an Inkadinkado stamp.

AJSS 2016 - Lesson 8

Joanne Sharpe was the teacher for lesson 8 at the Art Journal Summer School, we did painted lettering. The idea was to write the words with watercolour and then add more watercolour so that the words disappeared into the background - I didn't journal on them as I'm not very keen on what I'd done - you may see them again with some doodling on them.

Thank you for looking and have a lovely weekend - I was supposed to go to Ally Pally today but I've not felt too good this week so I'm giving it a miss - not very happy.

O Is For The Orpington Chicken

O is the latest letter in the Craft Barns Alpha/Dictionary challenge. I was looking at O words in my dictionary when I came across the word Orpington - I live in Orpington and wondered why it was in the dictionary, turns out it was talking about the Orpington Chicken.

This is what Wikipedia has to say about it.
The Orpington is a breed of chicken named after the town of OrpingtonKent, in south-east England, which was made famous in part by this breed. It was bred to be an excellent layer with good meat quality. Its large size and soft appearance together with its rich colour and gentle contours make it very attractive, and as such its popularity has grown as a show bird rather than a utility breed. Hens often become broody and are good mothers. Although rather heavy, they are able to fly small distances but rarely do so.
The original black Orpington was bred by William Cook in 1886, he chose a black bird so that it would hide the dirt and soot of London.

I got the images for my postcard of the Internet and found that the chickens come in a variety of colours now.

I covered my postcard with a copy of an Orpington road map, I used a credit card to scrape some acrylic paint over it. I left the top right hand corner clear of paint because my road is there quite close to the station.

Thank you for looking.

Mixed Media Postcard

At the beginning of the year I took part in a Mixed Media swap in the KCUK group, I made a postcard and never got round to blogging it as it's very similar to a canvas that I'd made sometime last year.

I started by colouring the background with Gelatos.

Then I added some cotton and painted it with gesso.

I stencilled some flowers with modelling paste and some shapes with crackle paste.

I added some colour with Gelatos and sprayed with water.

I kept adding colour with gelatos and water.

I stamped some black script and splattered some white paint..

I stamped the butterflies and cut them out after I coloured them, The small butterflies are a Martha Stewart stamp and punch and the large butterfly is a Stampendous stamp and die. The quote is an Artistic Stamper stamp.

Below are some close ups of parts of the postcard.

Thank you for dropping by to take a look, have a lovely day.
