Down In The Dungeon

My latest piece for the Craft Barns Design Team is a Halloween journal page.

I used a piece of mixed media card and stencilled the Tim Holtz wall with modeling paste, then I gave it a coat of gesso.

I painted the wall with watered down acrylic paint and spritzed with water, drying the wall between each colour, I also used a little brimstone wings Color Bloom.

I fastened some chain to the wall with brads and put some jump rings on the ends. I used some quinacridone gold paint to make it look like the metal had rusted.

I stamped some Carabelle Studio images onto white card using black Archival ink , coloured them with pencil and cut them out, the glass dome was stamped onto acetate and cut out, the Flonz Craft skeletons were stamped onto card and cut out, the knife was hand drawn.

The Table was stamped with an Impression Obsession stamp and distress ink. I stamped the mad doctor with a Stampers Anonymous stamp, I cut him out so that he looked like he was holding the knife, I cut his head of and added the skull.  I added some gauze, die cut spiders, a Tando pumpkin, some red paint for blood and some graffiti on the walls

SPA - Skulls

This weeks Sunday Postcard Art challenge is Skulls.

I'd like to enter my postcard in the following challenges.
Moo Mania and More - Drips and Splatters.
Try It On Tuesday - Scary and Spooky.
Country View Challenges - All Things Spooky.

For the background I stencilled modelling paste through a Prima stencil and gave it a coat of gesso when it had dried. I coloured the background with acrylic inks and Color Bloom sprayed with water and let it run down. I stamped some skulls onto tissue paper and glued them to the background then I splattered some white paint. The large skull was stamped onto white card and cut out. The sentiment was stamped onto card that had been coloured with Color Bloom. I used pencils to colour the moth.

The stamps that I used.
Stampers Anonymous - large skull and sentiment.
Carabelle Studio - background skull and moth.st
Flonz Craft - background skull.

Thank you for looking.
xxx Hazel.

Vintage Stamping

I'ts the lovely Julia's turn to choose the theme for the latest Craft Room Challenge and Vintage Stamping is the theme she has chosen.

This is what she has to say about the challenge.
I love anything vintage, particularly in the craft world and I am in my element when working with this genre.  I would like to see any vintage stamping project, but just for this challenge  no cute please.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Tando Creative, who produced some of the best chipboard products (in my opinion) on the market, so a very big thank you to them.

Tando Creative
Our guest designer for July is very talented Helene aka 2amscrapper.

Here is my DT piece.

The card I used for the background is from a scalloped edged card blank that I'd messed up, I cut it to fit the card blank that I was using and I also rounded the corners of the card blank.
I started by stamping the background with Distress ink then I added some tissue tape.
I stamped the image onto white card and watercoloured it with Distress ink, I rounded the corners and edged it with vintage photo Distress ink, I also inked the edges of the background and the card blank. I adhered some lace to the image then adhered it to the background.
I added the flowers and embellishments, then I masked the image and sprayed pink, yellow and green mica spray over the flowers and lace.

The stamps I used are.
JustRite for the diamond background.
7Gypsies for the butterfly.
Flonzcraft for the main image.

As usual the rest of the Design team have made some fabulous samples so please visit the Craft Room Challenge site to take a look.

Something For A Man

Something For A Man is the theme that Julia has chosen for the latest Craft-Room Challenge.

Flonzcraft are our sponsors for the challenge. They are based in New Zealand and make wonderful stamps

Last year I went to an Andy Skinner workshop where we altered a book box so for the challenge I decided to alter a wooden calendar to go with it.

I painted the calendar with gesso then adhered some chipboard cogs. I then painted it black and when it was dry brushed it with some DecoArt metalic paint, I also added some gold Rub and Buff. I added a couple of metal cogs and a game spinner.
I coloured the month and date blocks with Distress stain but I don't like them so I'm going to change them - I'll probably give them the same finish as the base.

The rest of the DT have made some fabulous samples so why not visit the Craft-Room to take a look.

Alpha Challenge - Letter E

The letter E is the latest letter in the Craft Barns Alpha challenge.
The word I chose is Easel. I'm not very keen on what I've done - I don't think the watercoloured image goes with the background.

I painted the background with Fresco Finish paint. Years ago I use to do Parchment Craft and I have a lot of Pergamano Pintura Paint, it's a very runny paint so I decided to let some run down the page.
The image is from Flonzcraft and I coloured it with felt tips and water and then I sponged vintage photo Distress ink over it. I then stamped [unknown] the paint brushes along the bottom. I also scribbled lines around the edges.
I used a QuickCutz die for the black letters.

Craft-Room Challenge - Make A Tag

Another fortnight has gone by so it's time for another Craft-Room Challenge. It's my turn to choose the challenge and I'd like you all to Make A Tag. Your tag can be any shape and you can decorate it with whatever takes your fancy.

This is our last challenge this year as we are taking a break over Christmas so you have four weeks to create and enter your tag.

The sponsors for our challenge is Flonzcraft a stamp company based in New Zealand.

The rest of the DT have made some wonderful tags so why not visit the Craft-Room to take a look.

I used bundled sage and fired brick Distress stain to colour my tag, then I adhered some white hand made paper and lace. I used a Spellbinders holly motif die and coloured it with Distress ink. The stamp I used is a Flonzcraft stamp - I coloured the image with watercolour pencils. I added a Sizzix Stacked Word sentiment that I'd coloured with distress ink. I also used some Stickles but it doesn't show up on the photo. I added some gems and ribbon.

We had some wonderful entries in our Ooh La La challenge, thank you everyone that took part.
