December Calendar

I've just made it for the Craft Barns December calendar challenge, the theme is Gold and/or Silver and Christmas Trees. December has been a bit fraught and I've not been able to do much crafting or blog hopping, things seen to be getting back to normal so I will be visiting you all in the New Year.

I used Brushos for the background, I sprinkled them onto card and sprayed with water. The PaperArtsy tree has been stamped onto coloured card, I cut out the pieces and glued them to gold card and then cut out the whole tree. I spread some gold Stickles onto the card and then glued the tree and presents, the presents and star have gold Stickles on, I also added red glitter glue dots on the tree. The calendar page and dates have been matted onto gold card.

A close up of the tree. The calendar is a lot more glittery than it looks on the photos.

Thank you for looking.

Music Deco Pages

Good morning, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Today I'm sharing some more pages that I did for KCUK's deco book swap, the theme was music.

I used Pan Pastels for the background, I also used Pan Pastels with the Tim Holtz stencil, the stars [Stampers Anonymous] were stamped with Distress ink. The main image and words are Graphic 45 stamps and were stamped and embossed. I stamped the music around the edge - I'm not sure who made the stamp.

The background was coloured with Distress inks and sprayed with water. I stamped the music - not sure who made the stamp. I stamped the main images [PaperArtsy] on to white card and edged them with distress ink.

Thank you for looking, have a lovely day.

SPA - The Holly and/or The Ivy

I'm happy to be hosting this weeks Sunday Postcard Art challenge. The theme that I've chosen is The Holly and/or The Ivy.

I sponged distress ink to colour the background and stamped the Crafter's Companion Holly Fairy stamp with black Archival ink, I also stamped some ivy leaves round the edge. I coloured the image and ivy with watercolour pencils and a brush. I put some gold foil round the edge, it doesn't show up very well in the photo apart from a little bit in the right hand corner.

Have a lovely Sunday.

SPA - Books/Reading

Today I'm sharing my postcard for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge, the theme is Books/Reading.

I looked through my old dictionary for the page with book on. I tore the page out and adhered it to my postcard, I sponged some vintage photo distress ink over it and drew some lines round the word book. I stamped some small holly leaves round the edge of the card. The image is a Gecko Galz digi stamp, I printed the image, cut it out and glued it to the card, I coloured it with pencils. The words were done on my computer.

Thank you for looking, have a good day.

Sunday Postcard Art - Trees

The theme for this weeks Sunday Postcard Art challenge is trees.

For the background I used Brushos with a stencil and sprayed water on it, when it was dry I stamped some trees [Crafty Individuals]. I coloured a piece of copy paper with Brushos and stamped and embossed the trees [Hero Arts], Instead of cutting round the image I cut a strip and glued it to the bottom of the postcard. I added the quote, no idea who made the stamp.

Thank you for looking.

Another Christmas Canvas

It's time for the December challenge at Mixed Media Mojo the theme is Sentiment and the twist is NOT to use red of green.

For my DT piece I've made a Christmas Canvas.

I used the same technique as the canvas on my previous post.
I covered the canvas board thickly with gesso and made marks in it, the tiny stars were made using a very small star icing cutter.

I scraped acrylic paint over the dried gesso.

I used my finger to spread some Treasure Pewter over it.

I decorated it by gluing some gauze to the bottom. I embossed the edges and the gauze with shabby white Frantage enamel, I also used it on the star. The words were done on the computer and die cut, I went round the edge with some distress ink and matted them onto die cut black card. I edged the canvas with Gelatos and a damp brush. I added some glass stars.

Here is a closer look at the star.

Thank you for looking at my project, please take a visit to the Mixed Media Mojo blog to take a look at the beautiful things that the rest of the DT have made.

Christmas Canvas

I can't believe its December already and it's time for Altered Eclectics last challenge of the year and as always the theme is anything goes as long as it's mixed media/altered art. This challenge will last for two months.

For my DT piece I've done a Christmas canvas.

I thickly covered a canvas board with gesso and used a pokey tool to make some marks, they're supposed to be holly leaves.

I scraped some green acrylic paint over the dried gesso .

Then I spread some Treasure Pewter over the canvas.

This is a close up of the canvas.

I decorated the canvas with die cut holly leaves and handmade roses and a decorated ATC size piece of stampboard. I covered the leaves and flowers with stickles.

Here is a close up of the roses.

For the centre piece I used an ATC size stampboard. I stamped the image [The Artistic Stamper] and coloured it with felt tips. I covered it with crackle paint and embossed the edges with gold embossing powder.

This is a close up of the crackle.

I hope you'll be able to join in with the challenge, the rest of the DT have made some fabulous samples and they would love you to take a look.

Thank you for looking.

Africa and Egypt Deco Pages

Good morning, I hope you all had a good weekend.

I'd like to share with you a couple of pages that I made earlier in the year for the KCUK deco book swap.

The background is acrylic paint swooshed with water. I stencilled the Tim Holtz rays stencil with glass bead texture gel mixed with orange acrylic paint, when this had dried I stamped the tree and animals. The figure was stamped onto white card, coloured in and cut out before glueing to the page. The letters are sticky backed ones from my stash.
All the stamps used are Clarity Stamps.

The background has been coloured with Gelatos. I stamped the main image onto the page and onto white card, I coloured the figure with felt tips and cut it out before glueing to the page, the beatles were stamped onto the page and coloured with felt tips. I coloured a piece of Stampboard with Versa Magic chalk ink and stamped the image.
I've no idea who made the stamps.

Thank you for looking, have a lovely day.

I used Gelatos to colour the background. The frame was stamped and embossed in gold, I stamped the large pear onto a book page and coloured it with Gelatos, the small pear was also stamped onto a book page and coloured with Gelatos.
The small pear and frame are Inovative Stamp Creations stamps, I don't know the make of the large pear and background stamps.

Autumn Colours

Last week I had a play with my alcohol inks on vellum and have made a journal page out of one of my samples.

The theme this month at Art Journal Journey is Autumn Colours.

I started with a piece of vellum that had green leaves printed on it, I dripped the alcohol inks and spread the ink by blowing through a straw, when I was happy with the result I stamped some leaves [La Blanche stamp] with black archival ink.

The words are printed on vellum and I've had them in my stash for years, I attached them to white paper with some brads and then attached them to my page with double sided tape. I drew the pumpkin, coloured it with coloured pencils and cut it out, I glued it to the page together with some punched out leaves.

SPA Challenge - November Rain

November Rain is this weeks Sunday Postcard Art challenge. I wasn't quite sure what to do for this one so I searched the web for quotes, there wasn't many but I found a Ray Bradbury one that I decided to use.

"They read the long afternoon through, while the cold November rain fell from the sky upon the quiet house".

I used Kaisercraft papers for the background and the house, I used pitt pens to give the house a bit of colour. I dry brushed the rain with a fan brush and blue and white acrylic paint and a PaperArtsy metalic glaze, unfortunately you can't see the metalic glaze from the photo.
I used an Invoke Arts stamp for the house.

Fabulous Fairy Tales

The theme for this weeks Sunday Postcard Art challenge is Fabulous Fairy Tales.

I've loved fairy tales since I can remember and Snow White was one of my favourites.

Gelli print background, the mirror was made out of embossed silver card and mirri board, I hand drew and coloured the face in the mirror. The evil queen is a Gecko Galz image that I printed, the quote is hand written.

Thank you for looking and enjoy what's left of the weekend.

Sunday Postcard Art - Paris

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Paris is the theme for this weeks Sunday Postcard Art Challenge.

I used a Gelli print for the background and all the images were stamped. I'm not sure if it was me or the Eiffel Tower that was tipsy when I stamped it. I added some white splatters and gave the postcard a coat of matte medium and added colour with Faber-Castell Pitt pens.

Stamps used:
Invoke Arts - Paris and background.
Creative Expressions - background.
Stampendous - flowers.
Clarity Stamps - Eiffel Tower.

Thank you for looking and have a nice day.

Flip Lid Mini Photo Box

Its the first of the month so it's time for the latest Mixed Media Mojo challenge, the theme is Fall and the twist is metal. For my DT piece I've made a boxed mini album. I take a lot of photos of the country park where I walk the dogs so the album is going to be used for these photos.

This is the decorated lid.

I used black chip board to make the box.

The next two photos show the opened box with the pockets and mini album.

This is the mini album that fits inside the box.

I covered the box with PaperArtsy decorated paper.

For the decoration I cut out some extra leaves from the paper and glued them to the lid. I also added some metal corners, burlap, die cut leaves, metal leaves and flowers, red beads and wire. I also die cut and embossed some leaves out of metal and coloured them with Stazon.

A close up of the decoration.

I covered the inside of the box with Kaisercraft paper.

The inside showing the mini album.

I have some journalling cards and tags to put in the pockets, I shall do that when I start adding the photos.

I hope you can visit Mixed Media Mojo to take a look at the rest of the teams fabulous samples.

Thank you for looking.

Christmas Banner

For my Altered Eclectics DT post this month I have a Christmas Banner to share with you. I made the banner at a brilliant Jofy workshop at That's Crafty. As always the challenge theme is Anything Goes as long as its Altered Art/Mixed Media, no cards are allowed.

The wooden pieces were painted and stencilled with Fresco Finish paints, a couple of the pieces were covered with book pages before being painted. I stamped the images with PaperArtsy/Jofy stamps and coloured them with Fresco finish paints. I added wooden snowflakes and some stickles. Below are close up photos of the pieces.

Why not pop over to Altered Eclectics to join in the challenge and have a look at the fabulous samples that the rest of the team have made.
