Seasonal Colour

Seasonal Colours is the theme that Zoe has chosen for the latest Craft-Room Challenge. She has given us an Autumn colour palette and a Spring colour palette - you only need to choose one but can do both if you wish.

Our sponsor this fortnight is Rogue Redhead Designs

For my DT piece I thought I'd have a go at some leaf printing. I've had a book for years and years called Nature Printing with Herbs, Fruit and Flowers by Laura Donnelly Bethmann, I thought it was time to read it properly.

This is the end result.

I sponged distress inks onto the backs of the leaves, sandwiched them between two sheets of watercolour paper and put them through my Big Shot.

This is the original print, I thought it was a bit pale so I lightly added some coloured pencil.

This is one of the prints that I decided not to use, I used a lovely juicy chrysanthemum and it made a bit of a mess which was a shame as the leaves were nice.

I used a cheap frame from a local charity shop.

I coloured it with black gesso and red and green emulsion paint.

I covered the frame with Weathered Wood Crackle Medium and when it was dry painted over it with a light coloured emulsion paint. Here is a snippet, you can just about see the colours showing through. I gave the frame a couple coats of matte varnish. The print was matted onto a piece of coloured card before framing.

As usual my teamies have made some fabulous samples and they would love you all to visit the Craft-Room to take a look,

Andy Skinner Workshop

Yesterday I spent a brilliant day at the Craft Barn doing an Andy Skinner workshop. We were given some supplies to create something, everybody created some fabulous pieces, all different. I was shattered last night with all the thinking that I had to do, my poor old brain.
This is what I made.

We used foam board, lot's of DecoArt products and lot's of different embellishments.

I started to create another piece but didn't get it finished, will try and finish it soon.

Spotllight Card

KCUK's two Septesmber challenges are a spotlight challenge and an Autumn challenge, I've made a card to fit both challenges.

It was my Wedding Anniversary this week, 31 years, so my challenge card is also for my Anniversary. Every morning hubby and me are out of the house by 6.30 for our two mile dog walk, we have two black cocker spaniels that's why I've added the dogs to the card. I love this Sheena Douglas image of the couple walking arm in arm, sharing the umbrella, unfortunately our walking arm in arm days are over, our walking sticks would get in the way, lol.

For the background I brayered some acrylic paint onto card. I stamped the main image twice and die cut part of one image then I coloured it in and adhered it to the main image matching the pattern.
I adhered the image to the background and added the bakers twine then I adhered it to a white card blank.
I stamped the two dogs and cut them out and adhered them to the card and added some die cut leaves and sentiments.

I used the following stamps
Sheena Douglas for the main image.
Katselkraft for the dogs.
Creative Expressions for the sentiment at the bottom.
Woodware for the Happy Anniversary.

I used a Spellbinders die for the shape and Tattered Lace Dies for the leaves.

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges

Bird Deco Pages

KCUK's 2014 deco swap is almost at an end, I've done everybody's pages apart from mine, these are the pages that I made for Dot, the theme of her book is birds.

I'm entering this page into the Stamping Sensations Things With Wings Challenge.

For the background I used one of my mono prints and stamped a couple of Dina Wakley's Scribbly Birds. I also stamped some Hero Arts feathers with a sticky embossing powder and covered them with gold foil. I used a Sheena Douglas stamp for the bird image and sentiment, I coloured the image with watercolours.

For the Background on this page I used Adirondack Brights inks splashed with water. I stamped the Stampers Anonymous flying birds and Sheena Douglas tiny flowers.
I stamped the branch and leaves and watercoloured them, I also stamped extra leaves and cut them out and adhered them to the branch.
The bird was stamped onto white card and watercoloured, after cutting him out I adhered him to the page. The bird and leaves are Sheena Douglas stamps.

Craft-Room Challenge - Forest Friends

Forest Friends is the theme for the latest  Craft-Room Challenge and it has been chosen by the lovely Amber.
Our sponsor this time around is Tando Creative.

I've made a hanging for my DT Piece.

I started by painting a piece of mountboard with acrylic paints and stenciled some leaves - I drew round the leaves with a black pencil and adhered a piece of green hessian.
I coloured some card with acrylic paint, when the paint had dried I used a Dreamweaver stencil and a brown pen to stencil the trees, I coloured the trees with watercolour pencils. The deer [unknown make of stamp] was stamped and coloured with pencils. I painted the chipboard tree and birds. I used Tattered Lace dies for the leaves.

As always my lovely teamies have made some fabulous samples and would love you all to visit the Craft-Room to take a look.

A Quick Card

I had a quick card to make this morning for a birthday tomorrow.

For the background I used a PaperArtsy stamp with vintage photo and fired brick distress ink.
The main image is a Crafty Individuals stamp that I stamped onto white card and coloured with the same colours that I used for the background and last but least I stamped the sentiment.

Hip To Be Square

This months theme at the One - Layer Simplicity Challenge is Hip To Be Square and I've made my first Christmas card of the year for the challenge.

I stamped the squares and then masked them before stamping the poinsettia and colouring it with watercolour pencils.
The stamps I used are
Rubbadubbado for the squares.
Joanna Sheen for the poinsettia.
Inkadinkado for the sentiment.

This is another CAS card that I've made. I'm not very keen on this card as I stamped the image onto pearl card and I don't like pearl card very much, the image didn't stamp very clearly.

The stamp is an Elusive Images/Chocolate Baroque one and I stamped it with black soot distress ink and embossed it with clear powder. I watercoloured it with distress inks.

Something Old, Something New

It's time again for another Craft-Room Challenge, the theme is 'Something Old, Something New' and it has been chosen by Annie.

This is what she has to say about the challenge.
Now about this fortnights challenge........we all have some old craft items in our stash and of course we have some new ones too............ so I would like you to make something which incorporates them both............not too hard............but you are required to list what you have used within your blog post.

Our sponsor this fortnight is Crafty Individuals

I've made a card for my DT sample and my new is an Impression Obsession dragonfly background stamp and my old is a Dreamweaver dragonfly brass stencil.

I stamped the background with the Impression Obsession stamp and various Marvi  Blending Blox inks, I also stamped some crackle with black ink.
I used a Sizzix courtyard die for the die cut and added some black gems.
I used DecoArt crackle paste with the dragonfly stencil and coloured it when it was dry.
I added some organza ribbon that I'd gathered.

My teamies have made some lovely samples so please visit the Craft- Room to take a look.
