S Is For Sea Shore

S is the latest letter in the Craft Barns Alpha/Dictionary challenge, but there is a twist this time we  have to add a shell.

Here is my postcard.

I covered my postcard with a yellow gelli print and brayered some blue acrylic paint for the sea and sky. I stamped the pier, letter S, corner shell, seagulls and quote directly onto the postcard. The girl was stamped onto white paper, coloured with pencil and cut out before being glued to the card. I added the dictionary definition and coloured the seagulls with a white marker.
The stamps I used are
Creative Expressions - pier and seagulls.
Crafty Individuals - shell.
The Stamp Bug - quote.
Elusive Images/Chocolate Baroque - the letter S.
The girl I'm not sure about.

Have a lovely day and thank you for looking.

Aloha Hawaii

Hawaii it this weeks challenge theme over at Sunday Postcard Art.

I went on the internet to search for images of Hawaii, there were lots of beautiful photos, eventually I found one to use.

I used a watercolour postcard to copy the image onto and coloured it with Faber-Castell Art Grip Aquarelle pencils and a water brush. I wrote the words and added a little bit of white at the waters edge with a white marker.

Thunder Bolts and Lightning

Linda has chosen the theme for this months Art Journal Journey challenge, the theme she has chosen is For The Record/Inspired By A Song. I couldn't decide what song to choose and then we had a storm one night and the words "Thunder bolts and lightning, very very frightening" came into my head so my song is Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.

I had a very dark gelli print that I wasn't sure what too use it for, it looked stormy so I decided to use it for the background and glued it to my journal page. I used a Dylusions umbrella stamp and patterned paper, after I stamped the umbrellas I cut them out and glued them to the page. I used a white pen to draw the thunderbolts and lightening and scribbled round them with a white pencil, I think I put to much white on as it got rid of too much of the dark background.

Thank you for looking.

SPA - Famous Artists

Famous Artists is this weeks Sunday Postcard Arts challenge theme. The artist I have chosen is Leonado Da Vinci.

I covered my postcard with a book page and coloured it with distress ink, I then dry brushed some white gesso over it. I stamped Leonado, the Mona Lisa and words onto a Gelli print, I tore round them and glued them to the card, the other images were stamped directly onto the card.
The stamps I used are Katzelkraft stamps.

Block Printing at Ally Pally

Yesterday I spent a wonderful day at Ally Pally, it was lovely meeting crafty friends that I haven't seen for a while. There are two shows a year and last year I was very disappointed, I didn't think the shows were as good as previous years, but this year there was lots of new exhibitors and I really enjoyed looking round. There were a lot of make and takes and I managed to get on a Block Craft make and take. I used wooden printing blocks and fabric paint to print on onto a bag.

There are lots of mistakes on my bag but I really enjoyed doing it, needless to say I bought some blocks, they can be used on paper and card as well as fabric.

Thank you for looking.

D Is For Dance

The letter D is the latest letter in the Craft Barns Alpha/Dictionary challenge, we have to use the colour pink as well.

For my postcard I have chosen the word Dance.

Again I've covered my postcard with a gelli print, I stamped some script and ballet shoes onto the background. I stamped the dancer straight onto the postcard and onto another gelli print and cut the dress out, I glued this over the image on the card. I stamped the quote and added the dictionary definition, I also stamped the edges.

The stamps I've used are Stamp Addicts stamps.
The edge stamp is unknown.

Thank you for looking and have a lovely day.

Altered Fridge Magnet

The theme for the latest Mixed Media Mojo challenge is to recycle with a twist of using metal.

I'd like to enter my magnet in the That's Crafty challenge - All Things Bright And Beautiful.

For my DT piece I've altered a postcard size fridge magnet that a local estate agents put through our door.

I also used three metal butterflies of this necklace that I found in a charity shop.

I covered the magnet with copy paper and painted it with gesso and acrllic paint.

I then glued some butterflies taken from a paper napkin and added more acrylic paint and some stencilling.

I stamped the Paper Inspirations image onto white copy paper, coloured it with pencils and glued it to the magnet. I splattered some black and white paint. I used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch and stamp for the small butterflies.

I cut three butterflies from the necklace and left the chain on. I coloured them with alcohol ink, bent the wings up and glued them to the magnet. I added the words.

I hope you can join in with the challenge, why not take a trip to Mixed Media Mojo to see the fabulous samples that the rest of the DT have made.

Thank you for looking.

Altered Greeting Card Book

It's April 1st already and time for a new Altered Eclectics challenge, as always the theme is Anything Goes as long as it's altered/mixed media, no cards allowed.

For my DT piece I've altered a Greeting Card Book.

These cute pups were on the front of the book.

The book has pockets on the inside to store greeting cards.

Inside the book were these adorable cards.

I covered the covers with paper, then I painted them with gesso and acrylic paint.

I stamped and stencilled the covers.

I stamped the PaperArtsy poppies on to paper and cut them out, I glued them to the covers and painted them with matt medium. I coloured the poppies with Faber-Castell Pitt Pens and blended them with my finger. I doodled round the edges with a black pen. I haven't done the inside of the book yet but I shall cover parts with paper and do some stamping.

I hope you will be able to join in with the challenge, my teamies have made some wonderful samples and they would love you all to take a look.

Thank you for looking, have a lovely day.
