For the latest Artful Times challenge Neet and Von want us to make a fabric tag - I decided to make a tag to hang on my Christmas tree.
There's not a lot to say about it really except that I used aida, red thread, felt, beads and ribbon.
I'd also like to share with you the very first piece of needlework that I ever made, it was made a very long time ago at school when I was five and it's the only thing that I have from my childhood besides photo's.
It's looking very tatty now and the threads have started to break.
You are so clever, Hazel. Love your bit of childhood memory,

Aw - wonder if they still do things like that? I have a needle holder made for me by one of my children (boys) and treasure it. Great idea to make an ornament, Hazel x
ReplyDeleteLove your material hanging hazel, will make a fab bookmark as well. Thank you for sharing your needlework from the past. xx
ReplyDeleteThe tag is very beautiful Hazel and look special on your tree. What amazing sewing you did when you were so young as well. Thank you for sharing that.
ReplyDeleteLove Chrissie xx

Gorgeous piece. I have a similar square to yours, worked at school about 60 years back! Valerie
ReplyDeleteIt is very sweet that you have treasured your first ever piece of stitch work Hazel.
ReplyDeleteThe tag is a lovely idea as a decoration.

A very traditional tag that we don't see enough of these days. I love it and it has made me think of getting some aida myself. A lovely example and something that will sit prettily on your tree.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us at Artful Times with this challenge. Hugs, Neet x
Your Ida tag is so cute for your tree. I think I could take a stab at making one from looking at the picture. I have most of the materials to make it. Would be very cute on a tree or pkgs.
ReplyDeleteYour needlework from childhood is something to treasure and share with grand kids if you have some. Looks like it held up quite well considering how long you've had it. Maybe it would be nice to frame it so it won't deteriorate any more.
Brilliant stitching, & what a wonderful childhood keepsake! xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tag Hazel. A future heirloom. Lovely childhood creation. It is great that you still have it. Thank you for sharing.

Lovely tag Hazel, it will look great on your Xmas tree. Fancy having your first piece of needlework, my mum would have thrown mine out ages ago, even though I was good at sewing.
ReplyDeleteLovely tag Hazel and I love your first stitching piece. I did one similar, which I remember being quite proud of. We brought them home, but I can't recall ever seeing mine again. Doubt mother was impressed!
